A Farmer's Journey To Immortality

Chapter 507: Gaining Verdant Elder’s Cooperation P02

“What… what are you going to do with me?”

The Verdant Elder asked, his voice unsure.

He looked at the floating shell with wide, uncertain eyes.

Aksai gave a small smile. It didn’t carry cruelty, only calm control.

“I’m turning you into an Aether Wisp,” he said.

The Verdant Elder blinked in confusion. Aksai continued, his tone steady.

“Aether Wisps are made from souls like yours. Refined, shaped, and merged with my essence. You won’t die. In fact, you’ll live on inside me.

We’ll grow together. Your power will become part of mine, and you’ll still have your thoughts. I’m offering you a chance to avoid destruction. Join me instead of wasting energy on a fight you can’t win.

Let me tell you, with or without your consent– I’m turning you into an Aether Wisp. With or without your help, your soul will become a part of my power.”

Aksai didn’t hold back after gaining full control of the situation.

The demon beast stared at him, frowning. His voice was softer when he asked, “Will I ever be free from your grasp?”

Aksai didn’t look away. He shook his head.

“No. I won’t lie to you,” he said.

“Once you become an Aether Wisp, your soul will merge with mine to some extent. You’ll lose your independence. You won’t survive without me, and you’ll never be able to control me.

You won’t have any power over my choices. But I will allow you to keep your memories. You’ll still be able to think and offer your opinions, and I will consider them when needed.”

He spoke with quiet authority. There was no anger, no pride—just truth.

The Verdant Elder lowered his head. He was silent for a long moment, his face full of thought. Then he looked up again.

“Human,” he said, his voice steady now, “thank you for being honest with me. Since I don’t have many options, I’ll choose the one that gives me a chance to keep existing. I…”

He paused, then took a deep breath. “I accept. I will become your Aether Wisp.”

One had to say that the Verdant Elder was no immature beast. He could think for himself and prioritize his benefits. After learning from Aksai’s words that there were not many ways to harbour resistance, he chose to be submissive.

Aksai let out a small laugh. “That’s an excellent choice,” he said. Even though whatever he had said to the demon beast was indeed true, it was also a fact that gaining the Verdant Elder’s cooperation had its own set of benefits.

Firstly, there won’t be any pressure on Aksai’s soul during the process if the Verdant Elder cooperated. Secondly, the grade of the Aether Wisp would also increase if the beast willingly cooperated on its own.

Aksai raised his hand again, and the Aether Shell began to move.

It pulsed once, and the vines and whips around the demon beast faded away. The beast was free—but he didn’t resist. He stood calmly, letting the Aether Shell enclose him.

The shell began to shine brighter, the light turning a deeper purple. Strange runes appeared on the surface of the shell, glowing faintly.

These runes moved like slow, twisting serpents across the smooth, semi-transparent sphere.

The Aether Shell started to shrink again, pulling itself in. The demon beast inside didn’t flinch or move. His body glowed softly, merging with the light around him.

The sphere became smaller and smaller, until it was the size of a football. It hovered gently, shining with a dark purple glow. The runes on its surface moved in smooth, endless patterns.

Inside, the Verdant Elder was no longer visible. His form was hidden completely, wrapped in the energy of the Aether Shell.

Aksai looked at it in silence. Then he lowered his hand, the sphere floating beside him like a calm, glowing moon.

Without saying anything, Aksai turned his gaze toward the endless sea in front of him—the sea made entirely of his dormant Aether Essence.

He raised his hand slowly and let the Aether Shell drop.

The sphere sank into the waters without resistance, slipping into the sea as if it belonged there. A soft ripple spread outward from the point of contact, then everything went still.

For a few seconds, nothing happened.

Then the sea began to churn.

Aksai felt it first—a strange tug deep within his soul. The Aether Shell had begun absorbing his dormant Aether Essence at an insane rate. The calm sea was no longer calm.

Waves started forming, crashing and rolling in all directions. Aksai’s eyes widened as he realized that the sea level had dropped ever so slightly. It was hard to notice, but he could feel it.

It was as if the Aether Shell had turned into a bottomless pit.

Suddenly, countless glowing runes rose from the surface of the sea. They floated into the air, spinning and dancing like fireflies.

The dark blue sky above, which had never held a sun, was now being covered with massive Aether runes. They stretched from one end of the horizon to the other, being drawn by some invisible force, like an unseen brush painting symbols across the heavens.

The pressure in the Soul Space increased. It was more than what Aksai had initially expected after studying the modified Aether Wisp method obtained from New Dawn.

After all, the method had insisted that the user should select a compatible beast to turn into an Aether Wisp. The Verdant Elder’s 3rd Order demon beast status changed many things for Aksai, making him suffer the consequences of choosing a technically higher tier beast for his Soul Space.

That being said, Aksai didn’t regret going ahead with the plan while knowing the risks. Instead, he did one things he could do to calm his nerves and offer him instant relief to some extent.

“Aaaaargh!”

He screamed.

He clutched his head as pain shot through him. It wasn’t like any normal pain.

It felt like his very mind was being split apart and melted into the boiling sea of Aether.
