200 Ch. 200 A Mysterious Girl
Anxia decided to get some fresh air after dancing once with her brother-in-law. Her head was spinning looking at the crowd of people and not to mention the many women who wore dresses so elegant came to ask questions. They were all curious about how she managed to win the heart of one of the twins.
Anxia felt like she wanted to silence them with a deadly answer. ‘Oh, it was super easy, really. I drugged him up with an aphrodisiac and had a daughter. Thanks to that, he was forced to marry me to give his baby a complete family.’
Anxia almost answered as she had in her mind to all the womenfolk there. But she managed to restrain herself and only gave a smile that didn’t reach the eyes without intending to satisfy their curiosity. Thus, she decided to be alone on the balcony outside while enjoying the cool night breeze.
“Isn’t this a crowded party?”
Anxia frowned, hearing a voice from behind her. She didn’t even know someone was approaching her! Not to mention, this individual spoke in her mother tongue, which stunned her. Did Leonard Heinest also invite eastern people?
Anxia investigated the voice owner, who turned out to be a girl in her early twenties.
“Well, you could say so. And you are….”
“Oh, don’t mind me. I’m just an insignificant guest here.”
Anxia no longer spoke and decided to ignore the girl and turned in the opposite direction to look at the night view.
.....
“Heaven is fair, and no one is exempt. The only one who can help you is yourself.”
Anxia gasped at the saying and immediately turned back to look directly at the girl. But, oddly enough, she couldn’t find anyone there. She stepped out to look for the girl. She wanted to ask where the girl had heard this phrase. She also wanted to ask if the girl knew her. Did the girl know her mother?
The only person who taught her this phrase was Loraine Shu, her biological mother. Anxia wished she could find the girl and ask her this. She hoped her mother was still alive and wanted to meet her soon.
However, she met another breathtaking teenage girl when she turned into another corridor. The teenage girl looked at the moon through the open window with both hands leaning on the sill.
As if the girl could feel her presence, the teenage girl looked at her, shocking Anxia to death. Not because of the girl’s pretty face but because of the color of her eyes. Previously she was sure she saw that the teenage girl’s eye color was brown, but why did it suddenly turn green?
Unbeknownst to her, Anxia stood rooted to the spot as the teenage girl slowly walked towards her.
For some reason, Anxia felt something dangerous about the girl, but her legs wouldn’t listen to her brain, as if something was holding her back.
Anxia could only swallow nervously when she saw the teenage girl standing right in front of her with one hand raised.
Reflexively, Anxia shook her head away, but her legs still couldn’t move. She instantly felt her breath catch when she felt the skin of the girl’s palm touching her cheek. And she was even more astonished when she saw tears from the corner of the teenage girl’s eyes.
“Poor soul. Don’t be too sad.”
Anxia was confused by the girl’s weird statement. Why should she be sad? “Uhm… I’m not. Are you lost? I’ll take you—” her words were cut off when she felt someone approaching them and pulling the teenage girl’s hand away from her face.
The person pulled the girl and hid her from Anxia’s view as if Anxia wanted to hurt the teenage girl. Anxia wanted to scold that second individual but swallowed it when she recognized the guy who had grabbed the girl’s hand.
Kendrich Alvianc. What is he doing here?
“Sorry, it’s her first meeting with many people. I hope she doesn’t bother you.”
Anxia blinked a few times at the young man’s apology. Kendrich did say sorry to her, but why did all his actions seem to protect the girl from her?
“She didn’t bother me. Aren’t you Kendrich Alvianc? I heard that you are my husband’s cousin.”
“Your... Who is your husband?”
“Richard Calvin.”
Kendrich gave a big smile when he heard her husband’s name, which made Anxia astonished. “Ah, so you’re Richie’s wife that I’ve heard a lot about. That’s right; I am his cousin.”
One of Anxia’s eyebrows rose, noticing this young man’s change in demeanor. Previously, the man had been aloof and reluctant to talk to her. However, once he found out who her husband was, the man changed by being warm and friendly towards her.
“This is the first time we have met. Nice to meet you,” Kendrich added, then held out his hand for a handshake with Anxia.
Anxia greeted the handshake with a small smile. Shouldn’t it be… her husband who introduced her to her cousin? Why do they even present themselves to each other?
“Have you met the twins? They are playing a silly game.”
“I haven’t met them yet, but I can see why they look like that.” Kendrich’s smile vanished when he heard a sob behind him. “I’m sorry. We have to go now. But it’s nice to meet you… uhm…”
“Just call me Anxia.”
“Okay. Nice to meet you, Anxia. I hope we can meet another time again.”
“You don’t live here?”
“No. I came to pick someone up. If you’ll excuse me...” Then, Kendrich took the hand of the little girl who sobbed and left Anxia alone in her confusion.
Don’t tell me… Kendrich came from the states to pick up the child. What is their relationship, anyway? Imagining a twenty-something man with a minor... was too unbelievable, and Anxia couldn’t even dare to imagine it.
Well, that’s none of her business. After all, all her husband’s cousins ??had their own nature and were one of a kind.
