Shi Lang was shivering in excitement while Bhairava was shocked. He could not quantify the reason behind why this young man knows the verse about the Chronos City. He narrowed his gaze and asked, “How do you know this?”
The Terran sensed the change in the demeanor of his new friend. He was not a fool, so he smiled and said, “It was mentioned in an ancient scroll that I found. The scroll was covered with spiritual runes. The people could not understand it, and thinking that the scroll was something important, I stole it. When I inspected the scroll I met the remnant conscious of the person who wrote that scroll. He was the one who imparted the knowledge of this wonderous city of yours.”
Bhairava did not relax. Shi Lang sighed and asked, “Do you want me to take an heavenly oath?”
The guard chief shook his head and said, “We will know if what you said was the truth, soon enough.”
That said, Shi Lang followed the guard chief while shaking his head. The city was populated, but what surprised the Terran was the fact that all these people had strong Dao Fluctuations. It was as if they were made of Dao itself.
Shi Lang used his sensory ability and found that the population of this grade city was just thirty thousand. After moving around the streets they came to stand before a person who was sitting on the curb with a black cloth under his butt.
The person seemed to be a normal human, however, he wasn’t what he seemed like by any means. Bhairava bowed and said, “Elder Paashu, Lady Sutra told me to guide this traveler to your side.”
The elder had a milky white beard that almost touched the ground, and his hair were the same. His face riddled with wrinkles and his frame looked bony. The old man opened his eyes and cast a gaze over Shi Lang and gave a faintly smile as he said, “I did not expect to meet a supreme today.”
Bhairava was surprised and looked at Shi Lang to reevaluate the young man. Shi Lang bowed his head slightly and said, “Greetings, Elder. I am Shi Lang.”
Elder Paashu smiled and said, “Shi Lang, Scavenger King, Captain Ace, General Shi Lang, Supreme General Shi Lang, Shura, Hall Master Shura, Alchemy King Shi Lang, Dao Forger Shi Lang. You are know to the world by many names, and you have played many roles in your life as well.”
Shi Lang faintly smiled, he wasn’t shocked to meet someone who could see through his soul with just a glance. Elder Paashu asked, “You seek guidance on many paths, be is soul, time, or strength. However, the Chronos City will only give you chance to choose one such paths. What would it be?”
Shi Lang replied with a smile, “The path of time.”
Paashu raised his brow and asked, “Why not soul? Don’t you wish to revive your better half, anymore?”
The Terran smiled and replied, “I will find a way for that on my own. The one thing that humans or anyone cannot understand with ease is Time, if I can peek at time, I would be able to save some of it. I think.”
Paashu smiled and nodded as he said, “You do have unique insights. Since you have made your choice, you will enter the chamber of Time, and stay there until you have managed to master the Dao of Time to some extent.”
Shi Lang nodded and said, “Thank you.”
Paashu looked at the Guard Chief, “Bhairava, bring him to the seventh chamber.”
The latter asked back, “For how long, Elder?”
Elder Paashu smiled and replied, “For as long as he needs. He passed the trial, and this is what he has earned.”
Shi Lang bowed to the old man and Paashu chuckled as she said, “You should not bow before me. You are a supreme. Go ahead.”
Bhairava nodded and led Shi Lang to the depths of the city. The Terran asked, “Can you tell me what is even going on here? What is the seventh chamber?”
The guard chief replied, “In the core of Chronos City there is a circular array of chambers, and inside these chambers there are the laws of Daos engraved on stones. The seventh chamber is where the Time Dao Laws are recorded. If you wish to comprehend that law, then you need to stay inside that chamber.”
Shi Lang thought about it and asked, “If that is the case then how can people comprehend these laws outside the city as well?”
Bhairava replied, “The stones vibrate on a special frequency which creates Dao Fluctuations. If these stones were to be left unchecked, they would cause the people here to go berserk from too much Dao Fluctuations. The rooms manage to lower down these frequencies, but some wavelengths still manage to travel far, as you said, outside the city.”
Shi Lang raised his brow as he caught on something and asked, “Wouldn’t closing me inside the chamber expose me to the risk of going mad?”
Bhairava nodded and said, “It is true, however, without risk there is no reward in this world.”
Shi Lang nodded and asked, “One last question. How did your city change the realms? The scroll I found belonged to the lower realm.”
Bhairava replied, “It is because the city exists in the fold of dimensions.”
Shi Lang felt confused and asked, “How did I manage to find this place in the fold of dimensions?”
Bhairava smiled and said, “The mystery of Dao Resonance is like that. None one knows how it works.”
Shi Lang nodded after thinking about this situation because he did not know how these things worked as well. Soon he found himself standing before the stone room and the door was marked with red seven. Bhairava stepped forward and placed a jade stone on the door. The next moment, the door slid open and the guard chief told Shi Lang to get inside. The Terran nodded and walked inside the relatively dark room.
Gradually his eyes adjusted to the surroundings, and he found a stone as big as a football was levitating in the center of the room, and it was radiating a warm glow. Shi Lang walked up to the stone to see what it was, but he found that the stone was a normal molten crystal.
He closed his eyes to feel the Dao Fluctuations coming from the stone and he realized that the fluctuations were coming from the stone, and suddenly, his spiritual energy was activated and then Shi Lang sensed the stone rotating at a high speed.
The entire place was flooded with a high pitch whistle, and after ten seconds Shi Lang’s body began to shiver. If someone was to look carefully they would find that under his eyelids, his eyes were flickering at a high speed. The young man did not give up, he stayed on to comprehend as much as he could.
The Dao was immense and Shi Lang knew this, that was why he endured. However, understanding something did not mean mastering it. The time that seemed like a few seconds to the rest of the people was akin to centuries for Shi Lang.
Gradually he lost the sense of time itself and was immersed in the comprehension of the knowledge in his mind, Shi Lang did not realize that this comprehension was overwhelming his mind to the point where if he did not give up, he would forget who he was.
…
Bhairava stood at the square of the city, he had just finished his patrol, and came over to the spot where Elder Paashu was sitting. He bowed in respect before he asked, “Elder, do you think Shi Lang would be able to handle the burden of the knowledge after all this time? It has been over a month since he entered the room.”
Elder Paashu smiled and opened his eyes, as he said, “You think I would assign the privilege of staying inside the room to just anyone? You underestimate the caliber of a being who can push his way to the realm of the supremes. Everyone says that Chronos city is a wondrous place, but did we ever have a supreme emergence among us?”
Bhairava shook his head and said, “Supremes only exist when the balance of the world is in chaos.”
Paashu smiled, “How strong should be a man capable of restoring the balance of the world? What do you think?”
Bhairava froze in his spot and at this moment, the lady in an emerald green Hanfu appeared before the two. She bowed to Elder Paashu before looking over to Bhairava and said, “Go, open the door of that room, he is done.”
The guard chief raised his brow, and Paashu chuckled and said, “Indeed, see Bhairava, I told you that you underestimate how the mind of that man works. You did not notice anything because no one even approaches the core rooms unless they wish to go in. Or you would have understood how clever this guy is.”
Bhairava was perplexed and thinking about what he should do, however, since he was instructed to open the doors, then he would, and thinking about it he charged to the core region.
