[You have selected the ‘Warrior’s Bloodline’ rune. As it’s an epic rune at max level, it is registered without any level decrease.]
[From the rune’s attributes, you gain 2 Strength, 2 Speed, and 2 Toughness.]
The first rune I acquired while defeating the Termen warriors is [Warrior’s Bloodline].
As evident from its max level from the start, this rune is related to inherent attributes or racial characteristics. In terms of my owned runes, it’s equivalent to [Trace of Dragon Clan (Lv.Max)]. For Ripley, it would be comparable to [Noble Bloodline (Lv.Max)].
In other words, it’s the bloodline that Termen warriors possess as a tribal characteristic. This rune is necessary to use the Termen power called ‘Will’.
Thanks to this, I was able to replicate and utilize the abilities of Termen warriors through this rune.
[The Termen’s Will ‘Greed’ is manifested. You absorb part of the magic attacks used by the opponent. When the absorbed magic accumulates, it converts into actual magic power.]
[Your ‘Greed’ has accumulated a massive amount of magic! The absorbed magic that overflows the container is converted into actual magic power.][You gain 1 Magic Power from the rune’s special effect.]
‘This is really overpowered, seriously.’
Among them, the one showing the most insane performance was this [Will of Greed].
[Will of Greed] is literally the will to covet and seize what belongs to others. But the target is not material things, but the ‘magic power’ contained in the opponent’s attacks.
When this Will is manifested while defending against certain magic attacks from the opponent, the corresponding magic is naturally absorbed into my body and accumulates. When this accumulated magic exceeds a certain amount, it is converted into actual magic power stats and returned to me.
In short, it’s a means to increase the general ability stat ‘Magic Power’.
Although the rune’s performance itself only has this special effect, it was an epic rune that gave a feeling comparable to [Effort of the Seekers] due to its excellent effect.
‘Of course, it’s not quite on the level of Effort of the Seeker.’
Looking at the effect, it seems like you could gain magic power almost infinitely, but when you actually experience it, that’s not the case.
First, the amount of magic you need to absorb and accumulate to raise 1 magic power is enormous, and after that, the absorption container itself gets bigger.
In other words, it was easy to gain the first 1 magic power, but the required amount increases dramatically for the next 1 magic power.
That’s why I only managed to raise 3 magic power while conquering the neutral territories. From 4 onwards, I just gave up because the required accumulation amount became too large.
Anyway, I started to accelerate my conquest of the neutral territories, enjoying hunting these ‘Wills’ one by one.
“Th-this is Edred’s Will of Greed? How on earth did you…!!”
“This? I just got it when I defeated him.”
The Termen warriors I encountered in the new neutral territory were bewildered by my power.
It’s understandable.
From the upper-rank Termen warriors, ‘Will’ takes a unique form.
In other words, [Will of Greed] was an epic rune that only Edred, who I just killed, possessed.
For a challenger of the neutral territory to copy and use such a unique ability of a comrade…
From the Termen warriors’ perspective, it must have been quite absurd.
[Challenger ‘Do Jae-hyun’ has defeated owner ‘Dobred’ and all his defensive forces, and acquired ownership of the neutral territory ‘Kaliman’! This is a suitable result verified by the noble vampire judge ‘Chloe’.] ŕÄΝȱ฿Ë𝙨
[Special achievement! You have acquired ownership of the neutral territory ‘Kaliman’ in Beltane. Acquiring ownership of a neutral territory is one of the great honors for challengers. Your abilities respond to this honorable achievement and achieve growth.]
[You gain 1 in all general and special ability stats, and resistance stats.]
[Sometimes, clashing with strong warriors motivates you to train! Your physical requirements as a warrior and available enhancement techniques greatly develop.]
[The level of the ‘Warriors’ Enhancement Technique’ rune has increased.]
[The level of the ‘Descendant of the Barbarian King’ rune has increased.]
The gains from this conquest were quite substantial.
The neutral territory showed a stat copying bug that raised all abilities by 1 each time it was conquered, and the Termen upper-rank warriors gifted new ‘Wills’ with each defeat, filling up my possessed runes.
That’s not all.
From the upper ranks, most Termen warriors show skills equivalent to S-grade monsters.
Fighting such strong beings under the pretext of a challenge greatly helped in increasing the proficiency of my possessed runes.
Mainly, runes like [Warriors’ Enhancement Technique] and [Weapon Master] showed a big increase, and [Descendant of the Barbarian King], which had been stagnant for a long time, also leveled up quite a bit.
“…Challenger, will you proceed to the next neutral territory?”
“Yes. Why do you even ask?”
The face of the vampire judge Chloe changes from expressionless to a look of shock.
Some madman applied to challenge 9 neutral territories simultaneously, and he’s continuing the execution in just one day.
Moreover, he’s succeeding in conquering all of them.
Even for him, who has been active as a judge for a long time, this result seems unbelievable.
‘…Not all judges are stiff, I see.’
I chuckle at his slightly human-like appearance.
Seeing this pale face often, I felt a strange sense of familiarity.
Anyway, I continued to conquer the neutral territories one by one, gaining unexpected benefits.
Today’s goal is to conquer all 9 neutral territories.
And that goal soon came into view.
“…The challenge to conquer the neutral territory ‘Pullin’ has ended in success. With this, the immigrant ‘Do Jae-hyun’ now owns a total of 8 neutral territories.”
It seems in <Beltane>, they refer to humans and other races like me as ‘immigrants’.
Anyway, Chloe’s declaration confirmed that my conquest had succeeded up to the 8th territory.
Once I gained momentum, conquering additional neutral territories happened in an instant.
And when I defeated the Termen warrior who owned the 8th neutral territory, <Pullin>,
The information window I had been secretly expecting appeared to greet me.
[‘Will of Sloth’ rune has been selected. As it’s an epic rune at level 18, its level decreases and is registered at level 9.]
[You gain 3 Willpower from the rune’s attributes.]
[There are currently combinable runes! You can obtain a superior rune using the mysterious power of the Rune Hunter.]
[Superior Rune: Warrior Who Manifested Will / Sub-runes: Will of Despair, Will of Pride, Will of Fear, Will of Curiosity, Will of Greed, Will of Obsession, Will of Sloth]
“Finally, it appeared.”
The power of ‘Will’ possessed by Termen warriors is the same in kind, only different in details.
So I thought that a superior rune would appear someday as I acquired them.
It was unexpected that it took as many as 7 to create it, though.
I combined the superior rune without hesitation.
[You have combined the superior rune ‘Warrior Who Manifested Will’. A total of 7 runes including Will of Despair, Will of Pride, …, Will of Sloth are selected as sub-runes. The judged level of the superior rune combining the sub-runes is 9.]
[You have obtained a new rune.]
[You gain 2 in all general ability stats from the rune’s attributes.]

*Sub-skill: –
Gaining 2 in all general ability stats.
As expected of combining a legendary rune, the reward stats were certain from the start.
Moreover, there were quite a few good special effects of the rune.
The ‘Noble Warrior’ effect was definitely a plus for me, who often hunts solo, and the effect of assisting the performance of abilities related to ‘will’ by 20% was also useful considering my runes.
Just off the top of my head, there’s the ‘Indomitable Will’, a special effect of [Warriors’ Enhancement Technique].
It’s a special effect that increases strength, speed, and endurance by 20% each when all internal magic power is depleted, but with this performance assistance, it increases by 24%.
It might seem like a small percentage, but in actual combat, these small percentages often determine victory or defeat.
“Strike of Will… I’m sure it’ll be useful somewhere.”
[Strike of Will] is a mental-type skill similar in nature to a curse.
It’s unique in that it’s not a skill that uses holy power, but reading it over and over, it doesn’t seem like a skill that would particularly suit my combat style.
Still, just as I had used the [Barrier Break] skill before, I felt like this skill would come in handy someday if I just left it alone.
Anyway, as it’s a derived skill from a legendary rune, its performance should be excellent if the situation is right.
“The challenge to conquer the neutral territory ‘Dekelt’ begins. This conquest challenge is observed by me, Chloe, a vampire judge, and is a legitimate challenge under the rules of Beltane.”
And the 9th neutral territory, <Dekelt>.
I pushed through to the end of the last neutral territory with unstoppable momentum, feeling the power of the newly acquired rune.
And at the edge of <Dekelt>, a Termen warrior named Feltaned was waiting.
‘Was he… The strongest one?’
According to Orland’s explanation, Feltaned is a ‘top-tier warrior’ of Termen.
He has the most powerful force among the Termen warriors who came to <Beltane>, and is acting as the chief warrior here in place of Tashmad, who was the former chief warrior.
But that’s about it.
His subordinate warriors had long since been cut down by my sword, and his fellow warriors had all their neutral territories and ‘Wills’ taken away.
Now all that’s left is him alone.
…Is that why?
“What the hell are you! You use a sword, but you also use magic, summon some wolf pup… And even my comrades’ abilities…!! Damn it!! What the hell are you doing?!”
His face, flushed red with anger as he pointed at me, was filled with what could be called desperate rage.
