Chapter 1900: Old Acquaintance?
“Take the children and go, we will hold them back.”
“You’ll end up dead.”
“A better outcome than everyone dying.”
The conversation between a man and lady could be heard as the man fought to hold back a Puppet, while the lady held onto a little boy who looked to be around three years old, while there was another girl who looked to be around eight holding her hands in fear.
They were currently inside a cave with a narrow opening, and the exit was blocked by these Puppets. The smell of blood covered the whole area, as screams could be heard from outside the cave.
“Go now!” The man forced back the Puppet and urged the lady to leave with the two children.
With tears running down her face, the lady turned around and tried to run deeper into the cave. This was their only hope, outside the cave was even more dangerous as there were just too many enemies.
As the lady ran deeper into the cave, she suddenly felt everywhere tremble, as if the cave was about to collapse. Looking back, she realized that the cave had inadvertently been blocked by rocks. She knew this was the handiwork of the man, trying to make sure nothing chased after them.
On the other side of the cave, the man steeled his mind, prepared to fight to the death. Now that the lady and children had left and he had blocked the tunnel, he knew all he had to do was to make sure no one got past this place, even if it cost him his life.
As he fought with the Puppet, another approached him, forcing him to take on a defensive position. Back against the wall, he knew his chances of survival were bleak.
At this moment, he noticed something odd, after the first Puppet came in, the next thing to rush into the cave was a Necromancer, and the Necromancer had fear all over his face.
The man was caught off-guard by the situation and could not help but be curious as to what could make these merciless Necromancers show so much fear. It did not take long for him to notice the fighting outside had stopped.
The Necromancer that ran into the cave rushed straight for the path that he had blocked, seemingly trying to escape through that path. Knowing the lady and children were running on the other side of the rocks, the man pushed his strength to the limit and tried to force the Necromancer back. However, his efforts did not bring any result, rather, he was sent flying by the Necromancer, crashing into the wall and coughing out a mouthful of blood.
With a wave of his hand, the Necromancer destroyed the rocks blocking his path. Just as he was about to continue his escape, a light streak flashed past, before a figure appeared in front of him.
As soon as the Necromancer saw this figure, he jumped in fright and turned around, hoping to escape through the exit for the cave while sending the Puppets towards the human figure that just appeared.
The figure was partly covered in lightning, staring coldly at the Necromancer, he sent out two bolts of lightning at the Puppets, destroying them with one attack.
The man who was sent flying watched wide-eyed as the Necromancer that sent him flying with a casual wave of his hand was scared witless by the person who just arrived. Seeing how easy it was for the person to deal with the Puppets made him realize that this was a top expert. He was exhausted after the long battle he had been fighting, but he still hurriedly stood up.
“Thank you for saving my life, Sir.” He quickly bowed to the figure covered in lightning. Raising his head, he was surprised to see a young man staring at him, the young man nodded at him before going after the Necromancer.
The man wanted to see what was happening outside, but recalling that the lady and two children were still running for their lives, he rushed into the depths of the cave. He did not go too far before he caught up with them. After catching up to them, they came out of the cave together.
When he came out of the cave, he was stunned by the sight before him. All the Necromancers were dead, and even the Puppets had all been destroyed. Some of these Puppets were people he was familiar with. Thankfully, he did not have to face them again.
Taking the lady and children, he rushed to the place where the other survivors were gathered. In the middle of the survivors were four youths. He recognized one of the youths as the young man who chased a Necromancer out of the cave. He was about to talk when he noticed that two of the youths looked oddly familiar.
The four youths who showed up were naturally Grey and his friends. When they got here, the Necromancers had the upper hand and if they were a few minutes late, these people would have all lost their lives.
While they were discussing with the survivors, they noticed the man, lady, and children coming over.
Klaus moved closer to Grey and whispered, “Don’t you think that guy looks familiar?”
The man looked to be in his mid thirties, and being covered in dried blood did not help his looks, but he found the man’s face to be quite familiar.
Grey nodded, agreeing with Klaus, “Now that you mention, he does look familiar. Do you think we’ve had dealings with him before?”
He did not know where or when, but he was certain that they had seen this man before.
As the duo brainstormed on where they had seen the man before, the man came forward with the lady and bowed to them, “Thank you for saving me and my family.”
“My name is Gregory Robertson.” The man introduced himself to the group, making them even more confused.
