- I'm serious, Peter. What you did was almost a suicide. I know the matters are important, but we could wait for another opportunity. If I knew you would go this far, I would never send you there - he said, finally standing next to me.
I kept laying on the ground, too tired mentally to move.
- I couldn't even hit that thing properly. What else I was supposed to do? You were the one to tell me I can handle this one.
- To tell you the truth, the opponent was slightly stronger than you. I was counting on your ability to finish him off before he gets his momentum going. I was wrong, and that's why I'm so upset. You should have escaped.
- Then you should have told something.
- I didn't want to shift your focus from the fight... No, those are all excuses. I send you there because I wanted to make you stronger faster than the circumstances were allowing me to. It was a mistake, and I realized it when you were casting that spell. I should have taken you back here, but instead, I gambled with your life. I'm sorry, Peter.
I didn't expect those words from him. To be honest, I didn't expect him to be capable of making mistakes, for some strange reason. Maybe because he seemed to have answers to every single one of my questions? Definitely not because he didn't make mistakes in the past, because he did...
- I accept your apology. I knew the risks, so I was prepared for this to go south. Still, it's not the first time you gambled with people's lives, but I hope it's the last one.
- Sadly, I can't promise you that, but I will try to have more faith.
I nodded, and he turned around, to walk away. I didn't stop him.
I needed to lay down for a moment. I relived the whole fight in my memories, then suddenly laughed. The fact that I just almost died hit me, and it strangely felt great. This balancing on the edge of life and death was making me feel more alive than ever.
It was dangerous, and I knew it, but I couldn't stop laughing anyway. Eventually, I did, and then picked myself up from the ground. My body felt like nothing ever happened to me.
I approached the glyph on the ground and pulled the crystal out of the vault. It was slightly darker than the ones I had before. I threw it on the symbol, and then touched the device to cash in. The stone was worth 3 069 class points, and 414 833 308 000 regular ones. Incredible amount.
So big, that my greed kicked in. I was almost halfway to getting myself a fourth-tier unlocked, combined class. Yes, I had in mind the 'Arcshadow'. Having that would make me way stronger than I was. The difference between tier one and tier two classes was significant. The difference between tier two and tier three was big, but the difference between tier three and tier four was immense. Not to mention it was not only unlocked class but also combined, which was making it even stronger.
Achieving that, though, was impossible. I needed to take at least two other ghosts just as strong as that one, and there was nothing indicating that I would win again if it came to a coin toss. It was better to focus on regular classes instead, which I could push to the fourth tier.
I decided to start with unlocking 'Unstoppable Dreadnought' because not only would it make me tougher, but also one of its skills was preventing me from aging, which was something I couldn't just pass on.
I unlocked the following skills: 'Incredible strength III', 'Incredible endurance III', 'Toughness III', 'Vitality III', 'Natural armor II', 'Unbleeding II', 'Relentless II', 'Regeneration', 'Immortal'.
'Immortal' had only one upgrade worth 10 000 000 000, and I started with buying it. Then I upgraded the rest to the seventh level.
Then I finally finished 'Weapon Grandmaster' skills, and unlocked 'Peerless Master'.
The class gave me access to the following skills: 'Peerless weapon mastery', 'Peerless technique III', 'Power strike III', 'Increased stamina IV', 'Eyes of Duelist III', 'Empowered body III', 'Parry IV', 'Hundred cuts II', 'Peerless form II', 'Formless blade', 'Untouchable'.
'Formless blade' was allowing me to basically ignore laws of physics when I was using my weapon. Of course to some point. I could make my weapon bend, or lose all the force behind it, to just stop as I wanted it to stop, or change angles in a similarly impossible way.
'Untouchable' on the other hand was all about dodging. Now I could use minimal movements to avoid the attacks. It was pushing my ability to dodge to extremes. We are talking millimeters, depending on the skill level.
Speaking of which, I immediately upgraded all of those to eighth.
I thought for a moment of unlocking 'Prince of shadows' but I decided to save the points, and do something stupid instead. You will find out what very soon.
Finished with all of that, I bought myself some clothes and food. I ate not too long ago, but all that fighting made me hungry again, so I just went for two pizzas, and some burgers with coke. What can I say? I missed the junk food I couldn't have for all those years.
I started by changing, then I filled my stomach. I wanted to proceed with my idea immediately, but then I realized it will be better to wait a day, so the emotions would fade a bit.
Yes, you guessed correctly, I wanted to ask The Great One to get find me another ghost. Two, to be precise.
I needed those points, and with my new upgrades, I was pretty confident I will win again. Not to mention the points I still could invest. Those needed to be spent, but I had enough shopping for a day.
Another day in Loistavadvaar came to an end with 176 358 846 060 regular points and 1 350 class ones.
