I took few quick breaths, then started running, and shadow walked back, to immediately go full sprint. He spotted me maybe a second later. The dance started again, but he didn't go for another hudge spell, instead added a barrage of fire bolts, that joined the rubble bullets in the mission of taking me down.
He was tearing the city apart in his pursuit to get me, but his tactic wasn't good enough, and he realized it. This led to him stopping his assault. Instead, he used the psychic powers to restrain my movements, but they were only good enough to somewhat slow me down. Still enough for him to have a shot at unleashing another devastating spell.
I panicked a bit, and almost ran back to Loistavadvaar, but then I realized that's not the way to win this fight and stopped tor him. The reason was simple, to bait him into using mana. And he did, almost killing me in the process, as a scorching blast of energy fell from above. I shadow walked a split second later, but still, I got hurt badly.
I immediately cast 'Renewal' on myself. Only thanks to my 'Dreadnought' skills, that would keep me conscious no matter the damage. I ended up on my knees, shivering from the fact that I almost just died, but it wasn't fear. It was an excitation. I just stepped right on the edge and managed to survive.
I still needed to use the device, to replenish the lost energy, just in case. It was quite pricy since the magic used quite a lot of force.
I used 50k points, but after that, I was ready to return.
The situation repeated, itself. I took few quick breaths, and started running, but naked, just to shadow walk back, and immediately go full sprint again.
He kept trying to kill me, but from the brutal force, he switched to a more clever tactic, attempting to block the path ahead of me, piling up the rubble, he was still trying to kill me with, but with my strength, speed and agility, climbing it, shadow walking past it, or jumping over was not a problem.
From that point, it still took me above four hours to wear him off, and then I finally got a shot on blasting him from the sky. I started with locking him a bit with my psychic powers, to then trap him inside few walls created through my barrier skills. Only then I could blast him with a scorching ray of energy, that knocked him down the sky, shattering my own trap, and melting through the ceiling of a building below.
I was so tired, that I just sat on the ground where I was standing, and send the shadows to pick up my trophy. It was a dark red crystal.
I sold it immediately after my return to the city of gates, earning 699 749 611 060 000 regular points, a new record, and 9660 class ones. I used the points to upgrade my 'Arcshadow' skills, and finish the class, unlocking the fifth tier 'Wrath of the void'. I couldn't afford to buy it though.
Then I went for maxing 'King of shadows', unlocking 'Shadow emperor' which I also couldn't afford.
Since the fire magic during the fight gave me so many problems, I decided to concentrate on it and upgrade my arsenal to never feel like that again. I bought the 'Infernalist'. The class gave me the following skills: 'Control flame IV', 'Create flame IV', 'Mana IV', 'Fire resistance III', 'Combustion III', 'Chained combustion II', 'Living flame II', 'Scorch II', 'Spontaneous combustion', 'Flame mastery'.
'Spontaneous combustion' was the skill that allowed the ghost to create the explosions out of the blue, without having to throw the fireball, or use 'Living flame' to deliver the 'package'.
'Flame mastery' on the other hand further developed my ability to control flames. Making it possible to create glyphs on the ground that would cause an eruption of fire. That was how he mined the path ahead of me. I could also now change the color of flames or make other crazy stuff with it.
I immediately upgraded the class fully, unlocking 'Archinfernalist'. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go for it, so I didn't, and instead fully upgraded 'Peerless Master', unlocking 'One with the blade', which I also didn't buy.
I came to this decision after analyzing my fight. Normally I wouldn't be able to win that fight, but since I was so versatile, I had plenty of options. Maybe I was lacking firepower and could do some stuff I actually didn't try, like for example using the Molochs to knock down the ghost from the sky, since those monsters could definitely reach up there, but I still came on top. Just like I always did, using my brain, which maybe wasn't the brightest one on earth, but was doing its job just fine for me.
This led me to also finishing 'Barrier grandmaster' since it was so important in how I managed to achieve victory. It unlocked me the fifth tier of the class, 'Blocker of paths', but I, again, didn't buy it. Instead, I fully upgraded a class that literally saved my life, the 'Grand Hierophant', and unlocked 'Bringer of life'.
I didn't get it though, mainly because I wanted to expand my options, but since I didn't have any immediate good ideas, I decided to call it a day and return to shopping tomorrow, with a fresh mind. I still had plenty of time until my return and the fourth-day fight really drained everything from me, since the enemy was the strongest so far.
Probably on a similar level to the one who chased me all the way to Loistavadvaar in the first place. Still a bit weaker, but at least I could compare them.. This brought me to the realization of how much of a calamity I became myself, and I was only getting stronger.
