I kept quiet until we got around a hundred meters from the house. We were standing, surrounded by flower beds and rockeries covered in colorful plants.
- I wasn't sure if I wanted to talk about this with you, Will, but I decided to do it - I started.
- Are you planning to confess? Because I'm divorced, so we actually could get married legally.
- Shut up. I'm serious here.
He smiled at me, showing his white teeth.
- Squeeze it out, Peter, squeeze it out.
I sighed.
- Let's go further. I don't want to be seen from the house.
- Are you going to propose? Finally. I've been waiting for so long.
- Shut up. I swear you are sometimes so damn annoying...
He kept smiling, as we went further, eventually turning a bit to get behind some bushes and trees. Then I grabbed him, dropped an anchor, and shadow walked us to Loistavadvaar.
- What the fuck? - he asked, as we suddenly appeared surrounded by the alien architecture.
The silver light was coming from the top of the cavern, illuminating the whole city of strange, jade houses. I immediately pulled out one of the red crystals from my vault and gave it to him.
- Use it before I change my mind?
His eyebrows rose, as he was clearly confused.
- What the heck is that? - He looked at the crystal he had just taken from my hand.
- You know exactly what is it. Sell it, and use points. You need to get stronger for what's to come.
- And what is coming exactly? You know something, don't you?
- No, I don't. And that is the exact reason I'm giving it to you. I have no idea what might happen, but we need to be ready.
He nodded slowly and went straight to the device located nearby. The big levitating ball, elevated by the small altar underneath it.
I watched as he placed the crystal on the glyph, and touched the sphere. The stone disappeared.
- What the fuck - escaped his mouth almost immediately. - That many points?
He turned around to look at me.
- Just use them. We can talk later. There is not much time. We should return as soon as possible. Something might happen when we are gone, or somebody might look for us.
- Ok, ok... But I have a shit ton of questions, Peter. Shit ton.
He then turned back to the device and started managing the points. I waited patiently as he bought stuff, which caused changes in him. Sometimes quite painful. It took him several minutes and then he finally left the sapling and came back to me.
- First of all, where the fuck did you get that? Second of all, how many did you get?
I just grabbed him and shadow walked to the garden.
- Ghosts, and it's risky as fuck. They are unbelievably strong. Not to mention it's a gamble. I encountered a few times individuals that almost killed me, even after The Great One helped me boos my skills on the weak ones, so you might forget about hunting them yourself unless you are feeling lucky. And how many did I get? At least a dozen.
- Dozen? How strong you really are?
- Let's say that the stuff you saw so far is not even half of it.
He laughed.
- You know what, Peter? It's actually great! I was worried about this alien shit, but if you are this powerful, then maybe we can just smash them.
- Maybe - I agreed. - I guess we will have to see. I'm actually not that concerned about it myself. What's more mindboggling for me is The Great One. He is not responding. I'm really starting to worry.
- You think he might have something to do with the aliens? - asked Will.
I shrugged my shoulders.
- Maybe. It's not like I know everything he was up to. I knew some things, but there was plenty of secrets with him. For example, I knew there are other cities like us, with people in a similar situation, but except for one, that I was sent to fix, I didn't know anything about the rest.
Will nodded.
- I guess we have to sit tight and wait. Let's deal with one problem at a time and for now, focus on the aliens. Then we might start thinking about The Great One.
- Yeah. You are right. Let's go back before others will get too curious. I believe that fact that you have to keep your mouth shut about the red crystals goes without saying.
- Sir, yes sir - he saluted me and then winked.
I shook my head, and we slowly returned talking about different stuff. Will was good with directing the conversation, and as we entered the mansion, we were talking about my relationship with Tihana, so for others, it looked like I pulled him on the side to ask for advice.
I realized his genius as I was admiring the large anteroom with two sets of stairs leading to a mezzanine that was connected to a corridor on a second floor, leading to the left and right wing of the building.
There were two big couches on both sides with tables, a large candelabra hanging from the ceiling that looked like a bunch of hanging crystals. The floor was covered in light brown large plates polished and reflecting the sunlight.
It all worked very well with the coloration of the furniture.
On one of the couches, Martin was already laying and looking at me and Will. Up above, on the mezzanine, Boris was leaning over the balustrade. Both of them clearly were waiting for the news.
Nil also showed himself quickly, with a sandwich in hand, but he immediately turned around and left as he saw it was just us who entered the house.
Will went upstairs to find his room, and leave the bag that was standing in the middle of the room. I on the other hand went to occupy the other couch. Then we waited, and waited some more, until the late afternoon when Vikram and a few others assignments showed up to inform us that there was no new development on the matter and that we should go to sleep, because we might need to jump to action at any moment, and we should be well-rested.
We followed this advice, and that's how the day ended.
