- You know who I am! - he said loudly, almost shouting.
Nobody dared to answer.
- There are rules in this city. Rules made by me. You have to register all duels, and they have to be supervised. This one was neither registered nor supervised. It's unlawful, so it won't happen - he informed everybody.
- You are already here, then why don't you supervise this? - he heard in response from the young asshole.
A lot of people jumped on those words from the safety of being among others in the crowd, so we heard a couple of loud voices agreeing with what he said, which kinda spread around even more.
I guess it pissed Will off, although he didn't let it show on his face. Instead, he snapped his fingers, and suddenly there were like a thousand swords in the air, all pointed at the poor guy, whose eyes got wide. I took it as an indicator of my friend's anger.
- It's fine, dad! I can do it - suddenly Leonel joined the conversation.
I guess he was doing Will a favor, since he was not talking to him, making the crowd angrier at the guy in charge of the whole city. Instead, he used a middleman, me, to smooth things out.
I turned to whisper to my friend.
- Leonel can take him on, so maybe just accept this? You can supervise this, don't you? I also wouldn't like you to come out as a bitch of some random who just violates your rules or something, so it's up to you to decide.
He looked at me briefly, then nodded.
- Fine. I'll supervise. There are not many opportunities to see the hunters fighting, so I guess that's what made this crowd so excited about this, but despite the outcome, you might pack your things and leave the city. This place is not for you - he said.
- What?! What about this guy? He is as much in this as me! - he yelled, pointing at Leonel.
- From what I've been informed, you dragged this man into this. You are the initiator of the whole thing, which started yesterday. Argue with me more, and I'll go down there, and kick the shit out of you by myself, then drag you to the portal, like the spoiled brat you are - Will said.
- Well, you could leave him alone if he wins - I murmured under my breath.
This made my friend look at me once again.
- I'm just confident in Leonel, and wouldn't mind seeing a good fight - I shrugged my shoulders.
He leaned to whisper to my ear:
- And what if he really wins? This guy's family bought a lot of crystals for him, and he hunts them all the time.
- If he wins I'll throw him to the void, the moment he gets alone - I whispered back, then smiled.
It was quite a sinister smile.
- We are nod going that - Will concluded. Then he turned to face the pit once again. - Come on, I don't have all day to waste here. Do your shit, and leave the city.
- It's not fair, The loser should leave - yelled somebody from the guy's friends who were still with him in the sandpit.
- I am the rules in this place - Will replied. - You disobey them, and you get kicked out. You can go with your friend if you don't like it here.
This made the guy shut up. It also worked on the crowd, since they realized that you can't just fuck around with William. It made the famous group mentality disappear because people realized that even in the crowd they weren't safe.
Meanwhile the group in the sandpit, mainly because of their leader, which is the guy who actually picked the fight, decided to, after all, go with the gear.
- You are using a weapon?! - screamed somebody from the bystanders. - Fight like a man! The other guy is unarmed!
- Fuck you! - he heard in response. - He agreed to fight me with to without a weapon, so it's on him.
He clearly had nothing more to lose, so he want full 'I'll bring you down with me' mode.
- Peter - I heard Celestine's voice a moment before she touched my shoulder. - You have your weapon on you? Maybe you should lend it to Leonel?
I nodded but didn't even look at her, I immediately focused on my son.
- Hey, Leonel! Do you want a weapon? I could lend you mine! - I shouted.
- I'm fine! - he responded.
- You need your daddy's help? Maybe he should hold your hand too - said the asshole, as he was equipping himself.
I just couldn't help but roll my eyes. It was beyond ridiculous. At this point, I myself wanted to wipe the floor with him, and make him swallow all those insults back. He was a hypocrite beyond belief. You wouldn't believe somebody like this could exist if you haven't actually seen it with your own eyes, and there he was, right in front of mine.
- You know what, dad? I'll take that weapon! - Leonel suddenly changed his mind.
His words made me smile. I leaped into the air, landing heavily in front of him, causing a few surprised reactions in the crowd. Then I pulled from my vault the new pudao I made for myself.
It had enough magic in it to destroy the guy completely, but it was synchronized with me, so it wouldn't work for my son anyway. For him, it was just a heavily enchanted, durable, and very sharp, but still regular weapon.
Leonel took it from my hands.
- You've got this? - I asked him, looking straight into his eyes.
- Yes - he nodded.
- Good. Make your family proud. Wipe the floor with that idiot. He deserves a proper beating - I said to him, then shadow walked to my previous spot, next to Will.
Leonel looked at me for a moment, then switched his focus to his, now fully geared, opponent on the other side.
The crew who was with him left too, some were looking at me because it became clear that I was not your ordinary guy, which, I guess made them nervous.
With this, the only two guys left in the sandpit were the two who were supposed to fight each other.
