Chapter 1261: Lie
“[I’m surrounded by horny kids],” A hoarse curse resounded from the cumbersome ship’s entrance, but Ilman couldn’t mind it while Jenna was exploding with passion on his face.
Meanwhile, Khan and Liiza turned to inspect the newcomer descending through the metal ramp. Zalpa was taking firm but slow steps, warily inspecting her surroundings and the sky, seemingly angry about something.
The old Niqols was rarely happy. Khan believed the closest he had come to seeing Zalpa in a mood other than grumpy was during his marriage. Still, there seemed to be something else to that crankiness now, and he could guess what.
Actually, Zalpa wasn’t alone in that. The environment and emotional scenes had kept the Nele and two Niqols busy, but they all possessed heightened senses, allowing them to notice something strange in Coravis’ symphony.
A long time had passed since Khan’s battle against the Great Old One, but the latter remained a universal overlord. Moreover, its carcass was still floating in Coravis’ sea, filling the planet with its mana and bottomless vitality.
That energy dispersion was still ongoing, but Coravis had made significant progress in absorbing it, improving its overall vitality in the process. Yet, traces remained, and an expert eye could also gain insights into its fearsome source by studying them.
“[What exactly died here]?” Zalpa wondered. She had always been more comfortable with her native language, but her suspicious behavior ended up alerting the remaining Nele on the scene, and Khan didn’t want to explain things twice.
“I took this planet from a powerful creature,” Khan revealed, nodding at a seemingly random spot past the landmass. “I’ll take you to see its carcass later.”
Zalpa responded with a snort but added nothing. The Niqols dealt with blood, so the offer aroused her interest, but she was too proud and grumpy to accept it with actual words.
Instead, the Nele mostly disregarded the matter. It wasn’t impellent anyway, and they had far more pressing things to care about. The landmass was the priority, but their companion’s actions claimed a close second spot.
The Nele knew Jenna was quite eccentric. One of the aliens still in the area had even witnessed her kiss with Liiza, but she was clearly different when it came to Ilman. Her actions had been self-explanatory, but she had even added that one-sided request, setting the matter in stone.
Of course, the species had no restrictions or biases toward interspecies relationships. As long as a Nele fell in love, their companions would respect that feeling. Jenna clearly was too far gone, so none of the aliens complained or said anything.
That led to a quite hilarious development. Jenna eventually calmed down, freeing Ilman from her passion. She also stopped clinging to his neck, only for her hands to slide over his chest and softly squeeze his grey robe.
“I have to check the area personally,” Jenna explained. “I’ll come back soon.”
Ilman was still stunned from the previous request and kiss, but Jenna tilted her chin toward him, making a face Khan didn’t recognize. Instead, Ilman did, and a sense of duty invaded his expression as he leaned forward to kiss Jenna.
Jenna looked satisfied with that short kiss and finally let go of Ilman, walking back to the group of Nele to give additional orders. Ilman followed her with his glowing gaze, but confusion spread on his face when he saw the alien group nodding at him.
Khan had to hold back from exploding into a laugh, and Liiza also covered her mouth to suppress a similar reaction. Their efforts even demanded more of their self-control when Ilman looked at them, searching for answers in his dear friends, but Zalpa worsened everything when she snorted again.
“Alright,” Khan cleared his throat, but a chuckle escaped anyway. “Let’s leave the Nele to their thing. I’ll handle something else in the meantime.”
The landing area was near the landmass’ edge, and Khan planned to head there to handle personal business. Yet, he stopped even before taking his first step, glancing at Liiza as an awkward expression rose to his face.
“We should probably do this together,” Khan mentioned, and Liiza seemed to understand something. She straightened her hair, but looking down at her ragged hoodie made her white eyes go wide in panic.
“Should I change first?” Liiza wondered, experiencing some cute anxiety.
Khan couldn’t help but smile, but Liiza’s slight panic set his priorities straight. He took her left hand and led her away, leaving the two Niqols behind. There would be time to introduce Ilman and Zalpa, but his wife had to come first.
Liiza couldn’t stay put while Khan walked forward and drew his phone. She adjusted her left sleeve, pulling it as high as possible to expose more of her white tattoos. Liiza tried to wear a firm stance afterward, but her free hand kept going to her hair, doing her best to straighten it even more.
“We are just meeting one of my lead scientists,” Khan reassured, sending messages on his modified phone.
Obviously, Liiza didn’t listen to Khan and kept trying to improve her appearance throughout the walk. Meanwhile, Khan’s forces started receiving and obeying his orders, so the ships in the second escort left the landmass to return to orbit.
Liiza stopped adjusting herself only when the couple reached the shore. That edge of the landmass featured a beach-like environment that managed to distract her. Her glowing eyes wandered over the seemingly endless shimmering sea stretching from her position, and her grasp on Khan’s hand instinctively tightened.
Nevertheless, the scenery didn’t remain pure much longer. A black dot appeared in the distance, growing closer and bigger. A military ship flew over the sea, approaching the shore at high speed and reaching it in no time.
Liiza simply stiffened while Khan went through the topics he needed to discuss. He trusted Zalpa, but making Garret double-check Liiza’s state had to be worth it. Also, Khan wanted to know how the preparations for his trip toward the danger zone around the Nak’s home were going.
However, when the ship landed in front of the married couple, Khan realized that he had inadvertently lied to Liiza. All his confidence vanished once the vessel’s doors opened and showed familiar faces he didn’t expect to see on such a remote planet.
Somehow, Khan’s Uncle, Aunt, and Grandfather were standing right before him.
