Chaos Heir

Chapter 1299: List

Chapter 1299: List

“I am of ice,” Liiza’s voice resounded from the ship’s control desk while a recording played on the big holographic screen hovering above it.

The video kept playing, showing more familiar images that Khan obviously recognized. He couldn’t possibly forget one of the best days in his life, but a frown remained plastered on his face.

It turned out Zalpa had truly recorded Liiza and Khan’s marriage with Carlos’ help, going as far as making and keeping copies of the celebration. The group of five was now watching it, standing in front of the holographic screen while the images triggered various reactions.

Deni and Wayne were captivated, albeit for different reasons. The former looked on the verge of getting emotional seeing his daughter’s marriage. Meanwhile, the latter was simply a mixture of excitement and curiosity.

Somehow, the video enthralled Zalpa, too. She was slightly behind the group, but her gaze was almost dazed while she peeked at the holographic screen.

Liiza also allowed herself to be emotional, clinging to Khan’s hand while leaning her head on his shoulder. She couldn’t refrain from snuggling closer, smiling at those loving memories.

Khan appreciated the recording, too. He shared Liiza’s emotions and wanted a copy of that video for himself, but his frown couldn’t disappear.

Despite that generally positive outcome, Khan couldn’t help but wonder about how Zalpa had even achieved that feat. After all, he had total control of Carlos’ ship back then, so missing that recording in the system would have been impossible.

‘I was only looking for anything leaked outside the ship,’ Khan recalled, ‘But still.’

Khan temporarily ignored the white and red straight hair on his shoulder to peek past Liiza’s head. His blue eyes illuminated Zalpa, but she didn’t mind or notice that light. The holographic screen seemed able to claim her entire attention.

‘How did she accomplish this when she is worse than I am at technology?’ Khan wondered. ‘I’m never calling her Zalpa again, am I?’

“[Aunt Zaza],” Khan called, and the old Niqols finally snapped back to reality, glaring at him.

“[Thank you],” Khan continued, earning himself a displeased groan from Zalpa. Still, a chuckle resounded on his shoulder, accompanied by a white light.

Liiza didn’t say anything, but her cute, blushing face told a story Khan could read. He didn’t hesitate to nod, knowing what Liiza wanted.

“[I’ll send it to my Uncle],” Khan confirmed. “[The entire universe will see it and know what it means].”

Liiza instantly went for a short kiss, biting her lower lip once she retracted her head. She had wanted to showcase her union to the world, and that recording could act as an official declaration.

“[All those big-chested women might give up on you if you do],” Liiza teased, half-warning Khan.

Khan wanted to reply, but Deni’s presence made him hesitate, giving Liiza’s smiling face a chance to captivate him. He was about to dive into another kiss, but the video reached a critical point, generating an interruption.

“[They left to have sex]!” Wayne exclaimed, proud to have understood that part without requiring confirmation from anyone else.

The recording’s perspective was from the hall’s ceiling, so it captured the moment when Liiza jumped on Khan, forcing him to hurry outside the place to avoid being undressed before the mixed crowd of guests.

The video didn’t stop at that moment, but Wayne still seized the chance to declare his understanding of the matter.

“[I’ll cut the recording at the kiss],” Khan groaned, lifting his gaze only to see that Deni and Wayne were looking at the married couple.

Despite Deni’s presence, Liiza wore a proud expression, showing it to the group. Her father didn’t complain about it, only mustering an affectionate smile, and that reaction told Khan it was time to move the meeting forward.

“[Why don’t you and Aunt Zaza talk with your father]?” Khan suggested. “[I’ll catch up with Wayne in the meantime].”

Everyone heard the suggestion, but only Deni commented on it. “[I wish to speak with you, too, Khan. You are my daughter’s Husband, after all].”

“[Of course],” Khan agreed, leaving a quick kiss on Liiza’s lips. “[We’ll return in a bit].”

Liiza threw a knowing glance at Khan, refraining from making her usual joke. Afterward, Khan nodded at Wayne, and the man luckily understood him without needing additional explanations.

Khan and Wayne walked into the cargo area, bringing their drinks with them. The former didn’t bother to seal the entrance since he had nothing to hide, and a question escaped his mouth as soon as they stopped.

“So,” Khan exclaimed, switching to the human language. “How are you?”

“I’m the happiest soldier in the Global Army!” Wayne laughed. “My time with Mister Ildoo’s family has been wonderful. I’ve been rehabilitated to exist in the light.”

“Why are you still calling him Mister Ildoo?” Khan wondered, unable to suppress the smile broadening on his face. “Don’t tell me he tricked you into calling him like that.”

“I was showing respect toward Mister Ildoo in front of Deni,” Wayne explained. “Many things went wrong around me during my rehabilitation, but George never gave up.”

“He is a true friend, isn’t he?” Khan chuckled, happy to learn that.

“Madam Ildoo, Miss Wildon, helped, too,” Wayne revealed, tilting his head in confusion, “But for some reason, I don’t want to call her Anita.”

“George has caught a scary one,” Khan commented. “Not that I can talk.”

“Your Wife is powerful and beautiful, brother,” Wayne exclaimed. “You truly make me jealous.”

Khan instinctively grew wary. Usually, those feelings would trigger a reaction in Wayne’s element, but nothing happened. Either he truly had control over his powers now, or his mana acted on levels Khan couldn’t sense.

“You’ll get there, too,” Khan reassured. “You are good-looking and strong. I’m sure someone will eventually fall for you.”

“That’s my next step in following your footsteps,” Wayne laughed, crossing his arms. “I’ll surpass you by having five alien girlfriends under my belt!”

Khan opened his mouth but promptly closed it. Wayne did look better, and he was happy for him, but the man clearly still had a long way ahead of him.

“You just need one,” Khan eventually said. “The right one.”

“George said that there’s strength in numbers,” Wayne pointed out, tilting his head in confusion again, “But his answers always changed when Madam Ildoo was around.”

“Well, that doesn’t matter, does it?” Khan smirked. “The whole point behind your rehabilitation was to make you choose what you want.”

Wayne thought about the matter for a while before asking a question. “So, should I take the five alien girlfriends off my list?”

“Only if you want to,” Khan said, his expression stiffening a bit since a chilling sensation seeped through the mental connection. It seemed Liiza could hear that conversation.

“Free will sure is hard,” Wayne admitted, excited at that prospect. “There’s still much I don’t understand.”

“It’s not a race,” Khan reassured. “Take all the time you need and ask for help if you are stuck. I might not show it, but I appreciate you coming here to support me.”

“I know you couldn’t have been happier about me being here!” Wayne laughed. “Though, what did your Wife and the other Niqols mean about my element?”

Wayne’s genuine confusion revealed how little he had understood about that talk, and Khan couldn’t really blame him. Wayne had received an excellent education, but his teachers remained human.

“There might be more about your element than we understand,” Khan summarized. “Sadly, I don’t know for sure either, but it must be true since Liiza said it.”

“Fate,” Wayne muttered, nodding to himself while his excitement took over, triggering another laugh. “I understand! I’m the chosen one like the characters in those fairy tales.”

The fact that Wayne knew what fairy tales were slightly surprised Khan, but they probably had been part of his education.

The idiotic statement didn’t affect Khan, and his thoughts started wandering into more serious topics. Wayne still sounded quite socially inept, but his noble lineage would eventually become a factor in his life, and Khan now had the authority to address it properly.

Princess Rebecca’s situation crossed Khan’s mind, but he dismissed the issue for now to focus on more pressing problems. There would be time to decide what to do with Wayne’s bastard status. Wayne also had to grow enough to make his own choices.

“Liiza will give birth soon,” Khan announced. “We’ll have to complete a trip right afterward, and we can’t bring the baby with us.”

“I see!” Wayne laughed. “You want to ask your brother, the chosen soldier in the Global Army, to take care of your child.”

“You do realize that being with me means you aren’t part of the Global Army anymore?” Khan teased.

Wayne’s eyes went wide, but his broad smile didn’t disappear. Still, it was clear he had never considered the matter.

“Anyway,” Khan continued. “You are correct. I need someone trustworthy and strong to protect my child in my absence. I can find a replacement if you don’t want to, but you would be perfect.”

Khan did his best not to make his request sound like an order. He didn’t want to interfere with Wayne’s newfound free will in the end.

“You told me to focus on myself,” Wayne exclaimed. “Am I right to assume that your request is of critical importance to you?”

“Nothing could be more important,” Khan confirmed.

“Then,” Wayne added, his smile disappearing, replaced by an uncharacteristic serious expression, “I must ask for something equally important in return.”

“Of course,” Khan responded, his eyebrows arching in surprise. That wasn’t entirely correct since favors existed, but Khan let Wayne do as he wished.

“I need your serious advice,” Wayne revealed, looking at Khan with all the intensity he was capable of. “Can I really take the five alien girlfriends off my list? I think I’m more attracted to human women.”
