Chapter 251: Divine Body Arts
“Divine Body Arts”
Jayce looked upon the words with a sense of awe and anticipation flowing through his body. Of course he had heard of body cultivation in the martial arts novels he used to read, but to think that he would find something like this in real life.
Before he even read the contents of the technique, his mind was already going wild with all sorts of scenarios and fantasies. Just by the prefix of “Divine” he could already tell that this would be a formidable technique.
Much like what he had read in those novels, cultivating the body usually put the user through tremendous amounts of pain. This would not only temper their body, but would also test their will.
The first person that came to mind from his group that had the willpower to practice this other than himself was Colin. Despite having a few screws loose, the big man had an indomitable will once he had made up his mind.
There was also the coincidence that he was named Divine Shield. What would the Divine Shield be like if he also had a Divine Body? Jayce couldn’t help but wonder.
Jayce spent the next few hours before dawn reading the Divine Body Arts. His body was not tired, considering he had spent what felt like the whole day in bed.
The technique was broken down into 3 realms; namely 1 star, 2 star and 3 star Divine Body.
The first realm focused on the muscles, the second was bones and ligaments, while the third and probably the toughest was organs. As Jayce read on, he began to cringe at the thought of the pain he would have to endure in order to cultivate this secret art.
The manual was almost like a Karma Sutra for torture. Pictures and descriptions of techniques to best cultivate the realms were depicted inside, leaving a bad taste in his mouth.
Jayce let out a sigh and shook his head, trying to shoo away the negative thoughts. He should not complain, judging by the title and the comprehensive training manual, there was no doubt of this techniques strength. Especially since it came from the Golden General.
“It might be easier to achieve if I have someone to suffer alongside me.” Jayce murmured, a small grin appearing on his face.
The vestiges of light came shining into the room softly as dawn broke over the horizon. He had been so immersed in the Divine Body Arts that he had not realized the time already.
Considering he had spent most of yesterday in bed, he quickly got up and decided to do something productive. He opened up the system window which had all been forgotten as of late and began to type a faction message.
“Breakfast in the Central Square in 2 hours. All are required to attend.”
With that he made his way to the bathroom and freshened up. Thankfully, Lianna had managed to save his young and handsome face, not even leaving a scar after Colin’s Donkey Kong sized fists had given him a makeover.
He smiled in the mirror only to notice something. Well… Something missing.
The smile quickly turned sour as he looked upon two of his teeth that had been knocked out. Thankfully they were two of his molars and the wounds had been healed by Lianna in the process, but that did not change anything.
“Heh. Knock my teeth out eh?” He muttered into the mirror, his calculating eyes planning his next move.
Lianna slowly stirred awake after hearing the sound of the door close. She could have sworn she had heard a few maniacal chuckles as well, yet it was probably her imagination.
Her first instinct was to check on Jayce, however after seeing that he was not in bed next to her she finally noticed that a notification had appeared. After seeing the contents she smiled briefly.
’He must feel guilty for staying in bed all day yesterday.’ She thought, deciding to get out of bed and lend a hand.
Colin had been laying awake in bed for a while, listening to the soft snores of his wife next to him and watching the sun peak over the horizon. Unlike yesterday, he was in a good mood now.
He had been contemplating how to make it up to Jayce today, despite being satisfied with how the altercation had ended. Now that he looked back on it, he had been quite presumptuous after all.
If anyone would have a bone to pick with Jayce, it would surely be Zane or one of the others who had lost loved ones during the attack. However, the fact that they had not intervened or challenged him, meant that they still considered him as a worthy leader.
Perhaps it was because he had grown so close to Jayce personally that he had forgotten what type of peerless General and Leader he was, thus he had ended up challenging him in haste.
Colin let out a sigh. He could not change the past, therefore he had to move forward and do his best until Jayce could trust him once again.
As these thoughts circulated in his head, he suddenly saw a notification pop up in front of him from the system. He quickly opened it with confusion. After all, Jayce had told them to stop relying on the system for anything in recent times.
It was there that he saw the summons from Jayce. Almost immediately, Colin’s stomach growled as if it were anticipating the hearty breakfast that was coming.
He turned over to the sleeping beauty who was next to him and let out a chuckle. The “beauty” in question was currently laying on her back in the shape of a starfish with her hair splayed out in every direction and her mouth open.
Colin did her the service of wiping the drool from the side of her mouth and leaned forward to kiss her on the cheek, only to receive a reflexive slap in response.
The big man tried his best not to laugh out loud at the comical situation.
