Chapter 138: Sold Out
"Why are you doing this?" she asked, perplexed.
"Helping an enemy out," Mo Qingchen bit out. "People will jump at the opportunity to comment. Make it a big issue. You'll get ad revenue like never before and a recommendation for your brother."
Silence. "I will let you know about this." Nothing more.
Mo Qingchen hung up and went back.
So far, he knew that all the gossip magazines would be covering this. Financial news outlets were slowly reducing how much they covered this matter. So, he had to give a little push, knowing than Yun Qian Meng wouldn't go that route.
It seemed forced but he felt like he should help out a little.
He pushed his phone back into his pocket and went back into dressing room.
Qian Meng followed him closely as she spoke to Daniel about business.
"Done?" she asked.
"Yes," he said without explaining further.
They looked like an old couple as they picked out his new wardrobe. The shirts they tried on were soft and comfortable. And at the end, Qian Meng slapped her hand on her knees and got up.
She pulled out her wallet and gave her card to Daniel. "Go ham. I'll make the deposit now," she said with a smile.
"What are you doing?" Mo Qingchen growled. He grabbed her wrist and pulled it back. "Don't take it," he warned Daniel.
The man looked between the couple and took a step back. "You two decide who is paying and I will be downstairs." He crawled away and looked over his shoulder at the man and woman who were now glaring at one another.
"Why are you paying?" Qingchen demanded to know.
"I am the one who asked you to get a new wardrobe, so I should be paying for it," she replied firmly.
"But I am the one wearing all those clothes!"
"I am the one who sees it on you every day," she countered.
"That makes no sense," he protested. He was still holding her hand, his grip was light and she didn't hurt in the least, so she let him hold her a little longer.
"It does. When we watch a movie, we pay for the ticket to do so." Mo Qingchen huffed.
"Did you even hear how that sounded?" he questioned.
"It's a gift," she prompted. "Do I need to spell it out for you? In a way, I want you to look good for me, so I am buying you these clothes. What's so wrong with that?"
Mo Qingchen drew his hand back, suddenly confused about how he should counter. He didn't know how to react. He nodded numbly and raked his hand through his hair as he composed himself.
"Good. Let's go pay!" she chuckled.
And she did just that. Her phone rang and she looked at the screen and her body grew tense.
"What is it?" she asked, worry lacing her voice.
"Boss, the sales team reported a spike in sales. And more people added the sold out goods to their carts and watchlists for when they come back in stock."
Qian Meng sagged with relief. "I thought our share prices plummeted," she admitted.
"It's after hours. The market isn't even open yet. Why did you think the price fell?" Mo Qingchen snickered. Qian Meng turned to glare at him.
"Give me the figures," she whispered. She crossed her fingers and waited.
She heard the clicking in the background before Li Min spoke.
"We currently have over two million page visits today. There are currently one-fifty-five thousand people on the website. This is not including the people at the sub-website. We are literally talking about the shop page." There was silence. "And we are selling out on most collections."
Qian Meng groaned. "When do we get the final sales reports?" she asked. She was tapping her foot impatiently.
"Tomorrow morning at eleven," Li Min said quickly.
"And if everything sells out, when will the restock come?" she asked. "We need to keep everything ready and ride the wave, okay?" she asked.
"Restocks are due in a week," Li Min informed quietly. "I am formulating a post on behalf of the company asking people to head to our twenty-four-hour physical outlets. They are still stocked. And asking them to stay tuned for restocks and upcoming collections," she said.
Qian Meng could hear the furious typing in the background and breathed in relief.
"Okay, great. Once you are done typing it out, send it to me. I will edit it once and then you can post it. Anything on the IT front that I need to be aware of?" she asked.
"The site went down for a couple of seconds because of the overflow of traffic, but we got it up quickly," Li Min was all business. "The IT team is rationing the incoming traffic right now. The marketing team is keeping tabs on what people are saying about the company and there is slight frustration."
Qian Meng hummed. "The post should dissuade that and divert traffic to the stores." She looked at Mo Qingchen helplessly. "Okay, we need to rush restock, don't we?"
Mo Qingchen nodded. "Don't get overwhelmed. Think carefully. How do you ride it out? How do you increase the sales?"
Qian Meng screwed her eyes shut. "We can restock in a smaller quantity. Limited goods mean driving up demand," she analyzed slowly.
"Good. It would decrease the time needed to restock on your website and warehouses, too, right?" Mo Qingchen prompted.
She nodded. She snapped back on the phone. "Call the factories. We should have one-third of the total orders ready. Wait for a day after we are all sold out and then start selling the new stocks, understood?"
"Relaying the information to the team," Li Min said in a professional but calm voice.
"Okay, I am hanging up now," Qian Meng said quickly. She did just that and stared at Mo Qingchen.
"I change my statement. It was not beautifully done. It was perfect," he said with a smile.
