Death... and me

Chapter 3611: Run, Run Again, and Run Even More

Chapter 3611: Run, Run Again, and Run Even More

As the twins’ group and Hian’s group walked away from the portal, the other groups behind slowly began to understand what they intended to do.

However, it wasn’t like they could simply go and stop them. Fight? Why would they go after the twins’ and Hian’s group and fight? That would only put them on the back foot. It was a situation completely different from the lake issue, where only the twins’ group could go through it. Right now, everyone there could do the same and leave the portal area.

As a matter of fact, everyone there also knew about how to use Light Element to stop the time slow issue. Some would have to manipulate yang energy to do it, others had other methods. There was only one question. How many of them were confident they could stay out there without their Self-Defense Globes and still prevent themselves from being trapped?

At the moment, the answer to that question was five!

Yes, right after Roan and Hian’s groups began to walk away, another three groups joined them. Since they couldn’t take the portal, they might as well try to cross this region normally. Besides, was this truly the only portal? Worse even, was that portal really the right choice? What if it is nothing but bait to keep them occupied? Thus, those with enough confidence took the same approach as Roan and Hian, leaving the area.

Of course, there was plenty of space in this region. If you didn’t need to get near others, you usually wouldn’t. Hian’s decision to stay close to the twins’ group was a weird one. The other three groups, which included the Camaztz Bats one, left in different directions. They just made sure they weren’t going back from where they came from and instead were moving away from it.

For the first days, the time power used to manipulate the slowdown diminished. After all, the center was that area around the portal the twins’ group had reached initially. However, once a week went by, the slowdown began to get stronger again.

There were two conclusions one could take from it. First, it is that the portal from earlier wasn’t the only place the time power could lead the groups. The second was that there were probably more portals in the direction where the time power was getting stronger again.

Rean and the others kept running nonstop. Walking would take too long, after all. Still, Rean leisurely talked to his companions and even played a few games on the way when he got bored. The same went for Kentucky when it came time for him to take up the mantle and protect everyone against the slowdown.

Not far from them, the Purple Sponge Bettas were also running while in their humanoid forms. It’s just that their expressions were very different from the twins’ group. Being out of water truly wasn’t the best environment for them.

Still, Celis could feel it. Those Bettas weren’t anywhere near as good as him, but they were definitely the best ones he had seen so far when it came to the absorption of Divine Energy, or any energy for that matter. ’Quite an interesting race. I wonder what kind of laws they use... can’t be too different from my absorption laws,’ he thought.

Two weeks went by, and Rean noticed the Bettas seemed exhausted. It wasn’t that they were running out of Divine Energy. They were taking turns, just as he and Kentucky were doing, but relying on all their ten members to do that. They weren’t running out of Divine Energy at all, even though they were being forced to control Yang Energy to gather Light Element. What made them exhausted was simply the Gravity of this place. They were feeling too heavy, and the fatigue of their bodies began to appear.

"Hey, are you guys doing fine?" Rean asked from afar.

Hian looked at Rean, bitterly smiling. How was the twins’ group so good at running without getting tired? He could understand Royer and Elsie’s case, as it was very obvious those two were spirits and only had a core each. Gravity posed little threat to them. But the rest, they looked just as fine, if not even better than the spirits. On the other hand, even he was starting to feel the effects of the past two weeks of constant running. "We are fine. We can still go for a while."

Kentucky laughed from high in the skies. He was checking the path ahead as always. "Hahaha! You better think about it straight. If you get too tired, we might have the chance to take you down."

"Thank you for the reminder," Hian nodded, but he didn’t seem worried about that fact. He was truly just tired.

"Hum?" At that moment, Kentucky sighted something. "Hey!"

He quickly came down, pointing forward. "There is indeed another portal ahead. This one seems empty, though. There is no one around it."

Everyone nodded while Hian’s group sighed in relief. They could finally get some rest.

Unfortunately...

*Puff!*

They got there, Royer threw another Divine Stone, and it was pulverized. Thus, Roan ordered. "Waste of time. Next!"

And so, they began to run again! Rest? What rest? They weren’t tired to start with, so why should they stay and rest? Completely ignoring Hian and his group, they charged ahead and pretended the portal didn’t even exist.

Hian’s companions looked with teary eyes at him. However, Hian gritted his teeth, passing them the order to continue. They just would need to spend some extra Divine Energy to alleviate the burden on their bodies for the time being, that’s all.

Another three weeks, another portal, and another...

*Puff!*

"Piece of shit! Next!" Roan ordered again, and the running continued. Rean and Roan were more and more certain that these portals were nothing but bait to keep them in place, wasting time.

As for Hian’s group... they probably wouldn’t attempt to run on foot ever again after leaving the Golden Palace.

It was then that the environment finally changed. It wasn’t a barren ground anymore. Instead, an ocean appeared, forcing the twins’ group to stop in front of it.

Hian’s companions were delighted. They might have suffered on the ground, but it was now time for the twins’ group to suffer in the water. Karma truly came around.

"No reason to stop running," Rean commented, and his changed his approach towards Light Element. "Let’s go!"

And so, they entered the ocean... or did they?

"FUCK!"

In the end, Hian’s first curse in many years came out of his mouth. He truly felt like being let down this time.
