272 Disadvantaged!
Listening to what Silver said, Alex frowned as he clenched his fists but he didn’t move. His fierce gaze was pinned on Silver who was seated at the other end of the room and for a while both sides were silent.
“We cannot let these innocent people die” Alex said and Silver sneered at him disdainfully.
“Innocent? More like useless... You save them, what next? Will the women and children fight for us? Will they be as effective as these suicidal folks? You have changed in this little time spent here. I don’t know how they managed to soften you but your emotions are irrelevant in this matter. We will proceed as planned... you will lead your forces and capture all unexplored planets and gather their forces to form a formidable army. I will gather all the Danite and human forces together... Then we will join hands and strike when the time is ready. You do not have enough leisure time to save people irrelevant to our goal!” Silver said coldly.
It sounded like an order and not a request. Everyone in the room, including the twelve elders paled. While they have been working with Silver for a while now they never thought much of him. In fact, they were just as surprised as the members of the culture when they found out Silver was the one who saved Alex.
Everyone felt wary of this person who was shrouded in mystery and secrets. Unlike him, Alex was straightforward, bold, and direct. Everyone knew his intentions and his plans, it’s just that it was close to impossible if you planned to stop him.
It was natural for them to feel more relaxed when around Alex than Silver. One was a dragon who had nothing to hide, while the other was no different from a snake.
“And what if I refuse?” Alex asked with a raised eyebrow.
“You can’t” Silver’s eyes flashed with hostility.
“If you are entertaining the thoughts of beating me in combat, then you must be delusional!” Alex’s eyes flashed with hostility as a fierce aura exploded from his body.
.....
Everyone felt immense power surging from his body as energy from all parts of the city began surging toward Alex.
His burnt hair quickly withered away and began regrowing. The seat he was in shattered as his body levitated off the ground and his new long gray hair fluttered in the wind fiercely while he looked down on everyone in the room.
“Do you truly wish to offend me for the sake of people you do not know? Are you willing to risk the life of your real family for the sake of these strangers?” Silver asked as immense silver light exploded from his body while he remained seated.
His aura was extremely fierce and just as everyone predicted it was on par with that of Alex.
“I made a promise to the soldiers who saved my life. Alex Briggs does not go back on his word ” Alex said coldly.
“Circumstances change! These are not people you can protect now!” Silver growled in anger.
“Hmph! Whoever Alex Briggs decides to protect, not even God can harm them. Unless you are confident you can win against me, I suggest you return to Earth and focus on your problems. I will keep my own part of the deal. Our operation on the target planets will not be affected by my actions but one thing is certain, I will save them and keep my word!” Alex declared with a cold look in his eyes.
The entire room fell silent as everyone present waited and mentally prepared for what may come next. Silver sat silently for a few minutes before the rage in his eye vanished, returning to its old, indifferent form.
“Your actions will kill the fighting spirit of the people working for the alliance.... It may cause a revolution amongst their ranks which in turn brings chaos and destruction. With the chaos, the alliance will turn on each other. In turn, they will be easily defeated and the planets in their possession will be eradicated as well. By that time, do you think you will have what it takes to kill these invaders alone? Do you think you can win with just the forces of the Estos race and the culture? Navie! This is not something you should get involved with if you wish to see all of us survive” Silver said with a cold look on his face.
His words shook the entire room and everyone who once disagreed with him began contemplating on his words. Silver has always been the smartest amongst all of them and he wasn’t the type to lie over things. At worst he would give out half-truths. But as half-truths, it also meant there is a possibility this would happen.
If there is a possibility, isn’t it wise to avoid it all together?
Was a mere promise truly worth the life of an entire race?
They all gazed at Alex now who stood above them like an ancient deity with pleading eyes. For the sake of this universe, it was necessary he let things go as planned, and secure the future of the younger ones and the unborn children.
“What will you do? Alex Briggs... Give me a negative answer and I will consider you an enemy of the entire human race and universe... I will kill you and have you replaced....” Silver said coldly, this time his killing intentions exploded, filling the entire city.
He was not joking this time since the fate of not just everyone but the entire universe is at stake. For that reason, he refused to let Alex tamper with an already concluded an almost perfect plan.
For a minute or so, Alex stood in mid air with his eyes shut tight as he pondered on Silver’s words. His eye dilated with emotions as he found his hands tied down after the entire situation was analyzed by Silver.
But no matter how much he tried he couldn’t get rid of the images of those soldiers taking their lives right after giving him a second chance at life. Was it truly right to dishonor them?
