Davis and Natalya were accommodated in a luxurious chamber designed for guests. It had all the amenities required for daily life and even a hot spring within one of the compartments.

Natalya told him that they accommodate the men of Emperor Sword Sect here, and these guest chambers were the only place they were allowed to do intimate things, only if they were married, though. Otherwise, they would be executed or exiled.

"Sigh, a pity… if I were only here in my main body…"

Natalya sighed as she sat together with him on the sofa and made herself comfortable by leaning on him.

Davis softly held her waist. If he brought out his soul body and superimposed it, he was sure he could begin dual cultivation right now, although Natalya's soul body would disperse from being unable to withstand the pleasure.

It was considered an attack on the soul body, and hence exhausting, and with a soul like his, Natalya's soul body would crumble the moment he made her feel pleasure with his soul, so that was why the support of the fleshly body was required during soul dual cultivation.

He could use his physical body to play with her, but that would only be willful and not pleasurable to both parties. It would be like grinding on a bland surface.

Even spirits had dual cultivation with their fleshly bodies.

Nonetheless, he struck her butt lightly, eliciting a moan from her that was obviously fake.

"Natalya… I'm warning you. Don't put strange ideas on any women you meet. Even if not for me, you would be offending your fellow sisters."

Davis uttered as he waved a finger at her, but his voice couldn't be any more gentle.

Natalya pouted, "She's not any woman, is she? Otherwise, there is no point for me to be here."

"…"

Davis thought a lot within that second, but he was unable to refute that point. His Natalya was dumb enough to do anything for him, but she had always been a bright individual who had values until he crumbled them, so he guessed she must have her own reasons for doing so.

"Tia told me… that she and Ivy are very important to us, and you told me that Tia might not be the same ever since you came back from the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm. Putting the two together, I decided to stay close to Tia to check if she was truly one of us. So far, I haven't seen anything malicious about her, so I believe she truly must be doing this for our sake. I don't see how saving Jade Aurora and Ivy benefits her, so the eventual conclusion I came to is that they benefit us… or you."

"…"

Davis couldn't help but smile as he heard her words.

Even without knowing the whole story, Natalya had been able to come to a conclusion that was close enough.

"Clever, but still-"

"I swear. I haven't done anything other than say a few things about you. Whether that might have had her heart racing or not is beyond me." Natalya righteously uttered.

It made Davis want to slap her butt again. This was nuanced manipulation, whispering every bit here and now and then to change a person's opinion on any subject or object.

"Natalya, you grew too much on yin with your cultivation method. I must pour you with yang in order to balance things out."

Davis clenched his fist and closed his eyes as though he was crying, causing Natalya to giggle.

She understood what he meant, as yang was all about violence, and yin was all about manipulation. However, the way he said it clearly carried another meaning that made her inwardly quiver with expectation.

At this moment, the door to their chamber was knocked, causing Davis to speak out.

"You can come in."

The door that was like a gate opened, and Jade Aurora entered with a few disciples who carried fruity delicacies and tea.

Jade Aurora took the opposite side of the tea table and had the fellow disciples place the delicacies. They were quick on their foot as they glided about before leaving the three of them as they gently closed the doors.

However, to Davis, it seemed like they were afraid enough that they wanted to get out as soon as possible.

Davis didn't stand on ceremony and grabbed a fruit to eat, closing his eyes as he relished it for a few moments. Jade Aurora waited until he opened his eyes to speak.

"I hope that it suits your taste. It is harvested from-"

"Valley Master Jade, let's get to the main point. Ivy Aries is my teacher's descendant, so I'm worried about her. Do you think she can be saved through your methods, or should I plunder the core of the formation from the current Matriarch?"

Jade Aurora pursed his lips as she heard Davis asking her.

"The Matriarch is long dead, and the core is hidden by the Elders. Some Elders take my side, but most want Faeri to inherit the Jade Lotus Valley. Faeri is not a bad person, but she is a bit pretentious and vengeful, so I can't trust her to release my disciple since I'm not in her good books. If it weren't for Ivy, I couldn't be bothered to pursue the status of Matriarch, so please understand that I'm doing my best to save her."

"I'm not chastising or disappointed in you. You see, I'm an impatient man when it comes to saving someone. The longer you wait, the greater the risks or consequences."

Davis said, causing Jade Aurora to nod, "I understand. The Elders themselves agree they can no longer wait to see who is better, so they intend to settle this through a battle between me and Faeri in a week. But with your appearance, even the Elders on my side are starting to wonder if I really should be the Matriarch."

"Haha," Davis couldn't help but chuckle, "Anyone who sides with me is bound to have a difficult life. My sworn brother, Starlight Jade Wolf King, also defied tradition and common sense to be allied with me but ended up incurring so many losses. I won't blame you if you choose to kick me out right now."

"H-How can I do that?"

Jade Aurora raised her voice lightly as though she was offended he would think that way.

"I'm not such a person. Since I made the decision to welcome you, then I'm prepared to see through the consequences. If they do not make the Matriarch, I'll just steal the core from them as Ivy's life is more important to me than this sect."

"Very good."

Davis appeared pleased by her answer, "As expected of the Valley Master. You are not indecisive."

"…"

Jade Aurora didn't know what to say about that praise, as her actions would be no different than betrayal. However, she didn't have much misgivings since her stay here was for less time and was only filled with difficulties rather than harmony.

She longed for there to be dependable people around her, but whenever she did that— the silhouette of a purple-robed man would always enter her visage. Remembering that now caused her to blush ever so lightly as she finished pouring some tea and served it to him.

Davis graciously accepted and sipped slowly, relishing its aroma and taste.

Davis didn't go too far in pushing Jade Aurora. He knew she needed to acquire the inheritance of the Jade Lotus Valley for her powers to become phenomenal or at least begin her phenomenal journey, so other than saving Ivy, it was of the utmost importance that she become the Matriarch.

He was prepared to support her but imagined that it was only going to let her down as people didn't sit well with being allies with an Anarchic Divergent.

For all he cared, he didn't need to change their perception as they weren't wrong. People could be evil, and that was no different for Divergent. As long as Divergents possessed the ability to swivel fate bubbles, then they are inherently chaotic. In other words, they are wicked existences to the heaven and earth.

That much he understood. So he didn't bother himself with changing people's perspectives as long as they didn't try to harm him or his family although in the latter's case, there was nothing to speak about other than reaping lives.
