In the skies, projections appeared all over the First Haven World, some above populated cities, some above important places, some above deserted areas, and some in isolated mini realms. Even the likes of Grand Beginnings Continent and Grand Sea Continent had these over.
Most of them were clueless as to what was going on in isolated lands and spaces, but the gist of it was understood.
It was some kind of martial competition between heavenly geniuses. They could see each and every one of the people present radiate some kind of charm, whether it be heroic, charismatic or even devilish.
Amidst the projection were many screens displaying and constantly changing between characters.
To their surprise, if they imagined someone, then the projection would make that screen bigger for them as though it was an illusion. To be able to do this on such a massive scale, many scholars and researchers had their jaws drop, wondering what kind of existence was capable of this feat.
And at this moment, most of their attention was caught by Fairy Thunderblaze. Her movements and the way she conducted herself had a significant attraction on the populace and some of their toad eyes that had never got to lay their eyes on such a beauty drooled while countless women imagined how they could be like her, beautiful yet dangerous.
They could see the inheritors and the Immortal Emperors move aside, giving way for her as she moved towards the staircase, none daring to attack her carelessly.
As soon as she was in front of the stairs, she leaped calmly, placing her feet on the first step, but without a stop, she moved to the second step, the third step, and the fourth.
At this point, the eyes of the inheritors narrowed, wondering if she was daring enough to go up. They still couldn't understand what she meant by the higher they climbed, the harder they fell.
Did she mean there was a trap on the seventh step and above?
Is that why they felt fear swell inside when rising above?
Fairy Thunderblaze paused slightly on the fourth step.
Despite everyone thinking that she would stop here, she moved one more step, entrenching herself on the fifth step.
There, she closed her eyes, seemingly contemplating what she was feeling, yet everyone saw how defenseless she looked. Perhaps a single powerful attack could take her life.
But even after three seconds, nothing happened other than Fairy Thunderblaze opening her eyes and taking a step forward again. This time, she didn't stop to feel the fear rushing inside her on the fifth step but skipped straight towards the sixth step, finally arriving beside Atsuo, who glared at her.
This woman had left everyone questioning themselves while facing their fears, so why had she climbed up all the way to the sixth step?
Her words and actions collided, making it controversial, yet he could see she wasn't scared at all. Her gaze was indifferent, even devoid of excitement, so he couldn't understand her intent at all.
However, his lips couldn't help but curl.
"What? Are you scared shitless enough to remain here? Why don't you set an example for all of us and climb up to the seventh step?"
Atsuo spoke in a mocking tone, his voice resounding throughout heaven and earth as he didn't bother to suppress himself.
Fairy Thunderblaze didn't respond nor turn to look at him.
She looked above, staring at the Immortal Dreams Palace beyond the platform as she saw her own visage on the screen. However, when she focused her gaze, she could see Evelynn, Isabella, and Shirley.
They remained there, still refusing to move, but most importantly, she would've loved to face the purple-robed man behind them.
"A pity… I'd have really loved to compare our fortitude."
Fairy Thunderblaze uttered before she heaved a sigh. Her heaving bosoms left Atsuo a bit stiff before he saw her take a step forward to his shock, causing his eyes to widen.
The inheritors held their breath as they watched Fairy Thunderblaze raise her feet and glide above like a fairy, stepping onto the seventh step. It was as though she didn't feel any pressure stemming from the sense of fear telling them not to step further, making them wonder if the sense of fear at the seventh step stopped.
If that was the case, then what was awaiting them?
They keenly gazed at Fairy Thunderblaze, wondering if something would happen to her, but even after five whole seconds, nothing happened.
Fairy Thunderblaze turned around to look, "This is as far as I will go now. Is there any man or woman bolder than me?"
She voiced out in a melodious voice as though her face was full of smiles, causing the crowd to become dumbfounded.
"What the…"
"All that talk, and she fails to provide anything of value?"
"Don't underestimate her. Either she discovered something, or she's at a loss as to what is going on. Even if she discovers something, she isn't going to share it with us. She's a competitor, for heaven's sake, so get on moving!~"
Many inheritors grumbled before proceeding by themselves.
In a few seconds, eighty percent of the inheritors were on the staircase but most remained on the first step in order to not incur any attacks or confrontation.
Some began moving up until they felt a sense of danger that started invoking their fears. It could be the third step or the fourth step. It seemed that it depended on one's fortitude.
"Mother, save me…"
There was one youth among them whose legs shook at the fifth step.
It was none other than Yi Feng.
He wasn't even twenty years old and was only at Level Seven Immortal King Stage, the weakest of them all, yet he managed to climb up to the fifth step and appeared to be shaking from head to toe.
Many inheritors couldn't help but feel pity.
They heard Yi Feng's ascendance to the First Haven World had started the Candidacy, so in essence, he got the short end of the stick due to having little time to grow and hone his skills.
"Hahaha! He's a cowardly kid. Why didn't someone kill him on the ground? Useless retards who take pity on him shouldn't even be participating in the Candidacy!"
A male inheritor cackled with schadenfreude before he moved up the fifth step and got to the sixth step. He was clad in golden armor and shone like an ardent warrior, yet the words that came out of his mouth were anything but ardent.
Perhaps it was his own way of granting mercy to a suffering soul, but the next words that came out of his mouth shook that all away from people's thoughts.
"Get down here and kneel under my crotch, Fairy Thunderblaze, and perhaps I will go up in your stead."
He pointed at her and grinned with utter arrogance, causing numerous people to be taken aback with disgust on their faces.
Fairy Thunderblaze didn't react. However, from where she stood, her eyes coldly looked down on him.
"You're a Divergent, aren't you? Don't act like some beautiful and innocent fairy that is deserving of the title of Celestial Fairy. Who knows what kind of crimes you have committed to be this powerful?"
He finally asked what everyone was thinking, and it quickly became apparent to the inheritors who he was.
He was a fey who had the blood of the Golden Ray Toad and the Golden Armored Rhinoceros, having two bloodlines that made him a variant fey which made him immensely powerful. Currently, he seemed to be radiating King-Tier undulations, giving him an overwhelming sense of superiority towards others and even fellow King-Tier entities like Fairy Thunderblaze.
With how he looked at her with his big eyes that blinked like a toad's as he changed his features, he seemed to believe that he was capable of battling her.
