Evelynn patted her stomach and nodded approvingly as she saw the immortal crystal was safe within her and didn't release any kind of undulations.
The inner world of immortals could only hold items that didn't have Will or items that had accepted them as their master, but at the same time, the energy capacity of the item also mattered.
It shouldn't exceed the cultivator's own capacity. Otherwise, problems would arise, including sickness and nausea, before they would throw up like they were spitting out food if they could withstand the pressure.
That was why spatial rings were always used to store things instead of inner worlds. The space inside spatial rings was more stable, and they wouldn't be affected by any kind of energy. The items in their inner world would affect them for better or worse.
Then again, the items Evelynn absorbed were just amalgamation of heaven and earth energy, so there was any real need for concern but with the amount she took, she guessed that she could only take a few dozen inside her.
However, Evelynn held her breath, ready to escape.
The strange crystal creatures could've noticed such a huge piece of their immortal crystal being taken away.
But still, Evelynn was prepared.
This place was closer to the edge, so she had already made another exit in case one of them was exposed. If all escape routes were blocked, she was ready to use the Escape Talisman.
She only had thirty percent of her immortal martial energy left but she didn't consider this a regretful endeavor as she was starting to feel like these immortal crystals were needed because they were protected or eaten by these strange creatures. But even after waiting for a minute, no crystal creature invaded the crystal mountain she was in.
It made her heave a sigh of relief and walked out of the crystal mountain to peek at what was going on. She took the piece of junk and moved it to the side, lightly looking out. There was no crystal creatures at the northeast end, allowing her to move out and check.
It was just as she expected.
The crystal creatures were tamely feasting on the foot of the crystal mountains, grinding with their claws and ramming to make the immortal crystals drop.
Evelynn couldn't help but smile.
She failed to consider the reason they couldn't sense such a massive change, which was because the heaven and earth energy here was too dense, allowing Immortal Emperors to progress as much as nine times faster or even more.
It was because of the sixteen crystal mountains that were present in the same area, which wouldn't be found in First Haven World. Each of these crystal mountains was filled with at least nine High-Level Immortal Crystal Vein Sources, making the atmosphere dense with heaven and earth energy.
It was because it was too dense that the crystal creatures were unable to detect such a change, and for the same reason, they were unable to detect her. The atmosphere was too thick for their senses to spread out, not that she knew if these crystal creatures had any soul sense for that matter.
Nonetheless, having confirmed that they would not be a threat, she returned to the crystal mountain and closed the exit with the crystal chunk and continued to excavate like a true miner.
Her scythes were speedy in doing the work. However, she was almost out of immortal martial energy, so she sat down to recover.
Fortunately, she was a fey, so the rate of absorption was faster than humans. Using the immortal crystals stored in her inner world, she restored her immortal martial energy. One should know that the Immortal Crystal Vein Cores were considered to be an infinite source of energy as long as one let them recharge through the passage of time. They would absorb the heaven and earth energy from the atmosphere and end up generating Vein Fragments, and the Vein Fragments would start generating Immortal Crystals.
That has always been the case. So, completely absorbing the Immortal Crystal Vein Source was considered a crime.
Evelynn didn't fully absorb from the Immortal Crystal Vein Source. She also had the dense heaven and earth energy to support her recovery. In twenty minutes, she restored her immortal martial energy to ninety percent, so she continued to excavate.
She did this for three hours straight and managed to excavate twelve more High-Level Immortal Crystal Vein Sources, making it a total of thirteen.
Indeed, she had already intruded on another crystal mountain, clearing it up from the inside. It took some time not to get caught by the crystal creatures, but conversely, her mining skills using her scythes have considerably improved, reducing the time needed to obtain an Immortal Crystal Vein Source.
*Booom!~*
Outside, she heard a commotion.
Even without being able to sense anything, she knew that an inheritor had chanced upon these crystal mountains.
Evelynn's lips curled in derision, wondering what was with all those inheritors who thought they could walk out openly. Did they consider themselves to be infallible?
She didn't bother going out to check, but at this time, she noticed that the commotion still continued for a longer time than before since this wasn't the first or second time people found this place.
This should be the fifth commotion ever since she stepped here.
She walked to one of the edges she carved out. It was on the wider side of the crystal mountain, allowing her to see the entirety of the northwest, so she peeked out to see what was going on.
"…"
Her eyes slightly widened to see four people take on the Mid Stage Immortal Emperor Beasts. They were all Level Eight Immortal Kings, but they didn't seem to have anything special about them from the other inheritors she had her eyes on.
The fact that they were Level Eight Immortal Kings meant that they had only made it to the first step, so she low-key looked down on them. However, she didn't underestimate them and kept watch.
They battled the crystal creatures, two turtles, three rabbits, and four serpents.
The four inheritors seemed to unleash all kinds of attacks at them, holding them at bay. Evelynn was surprised to see that all four of them were from different factions since the techniques they used were different.
She didn't think inheritors would combine forces but if it was the case, it was possible that there could be hunting parties made on purely benefits as well.
She didn't know what had happened in the previous hours, but she once again felt the need to go out and collect information. On the other hand, she wished Isabella and Shirley were safe.
They had no way to contact each other other than burning their blood essence, but that would be like lighting up a fire and revealing their location. Hence, no one did it, not a single inheritor.
"Dammit." One of the four inheritors raised their voice, "We can't take them down without using Divine Techniques."
"Indeed." A plainly dressed white-robed man spoke after he gave a heavy nod, fire rising from his body before it blasted onto the crystal turtle beast.
"Girar!"
The crystal turtle beast backed off a bit, smoke arising from its mouth.
It seemed to be capable of withstanding a direct blast to its mouth.
"Using Divine Techniques will cause a change in weather, no different than revealing our location. It is better to lead them away so we can plunder the Vein Fragments and Vein Cores and bring them back to the Hidden Pagoda."
That person continued, raising his hand as he gestured, "Quick, I will plunder them, so you three lead them away."
"Fuck off, Marpitas. Do you think you can take them all for yourself!?" Another inheritor cursed.
"If we don't do anything, the commotion we made will eventually be found out by others!" Marpitas roared.
The others clenched their teeth, defending against the physical attacks of the crystal creatures. However, knowing that they couldn't prolong this battle, they quickly nodded and warned him not to take advantage, or the three of them would hunt him down.
They quickly tried to lead the crystal creatures away, but the creatures really took the bait, following them into the forest.
This allowed Marpitas to heave a sigh of relief before he turned to look around and harrumphed.
"Fools…"
He muttered under his breath and punched out a crystal mountain nearby, causing a part of the crystal structure to collapse, revealing a High-Level Immortal Crystal Vein Source. Actually, there were two of them, allowing him to take them with ease as he deposited them into his inner world.
"…"
Evelynn's brows twitched.
What she took hours doing was going to be obtained by this man in a few minutes. It couldn't be helped as their cultivation was vastly different, with hers having been sealed. Her body could only consume the immortal martial energy and not use it. That was the difference between being able to make use of energy and not being able to make use of energy.
*Boom!~*
As she was watching the man unleash another punch and thinking of escaping as she couldn't possibly defeat him, the mountain to her south suddenly exploded, and a winged crystal creature suddenly shot to the skies. Novel Fire - novelfire.net
"…!"
Evelynn's heart sank.
It was a crystal phoenix, but its wingspan was eighty meters in length. It unfolded its crystal wings and soared into the air.
"What the…"
Marpitas was shocked. He shuddered under its undulations before he quickly made a decision— to run away. He had just taken a few steps on the ground when the crystal phoenix took a dive from the skies and shot towards him with immense speed.
"Fuck!"
He roared and took out something as he patted his stomach. Something came out and glowed fervently.
*Boom!~*
The crystal phoenix crashed with its crystal body onto the surface where Marpitas had been present. It caused a crater to form and also created an intense reverberation, but this was a crystal field where the vibrations didn't travel too much, and the momentum was severed by the countless pieces of immortal crystals, causing cracks to appear in them which caused the energy stored in them to start dispersing.
Still, the crystal phoenix didn't seem to be injured. Instead, it seemed to stand up and look for Marpitas, but he seemed to have escaped. Still, it kept a keen eye on its surroundings, looking around, and its gaze moved towards the crystal mountain Evelynn was in.
"…!"
Evelynn closed the lid of the wall with a crystal chunk and stepped back.
Her forehead was covered in sweet perspiration from all the work and the tension over this situation. She couldn't believe she was not stuck here with a Peak-Level Immortal Emperor Crystal Beast watching over this area and that it was right inside the crystal mountain she was planning to go into next all along.
