Chapter 3666 A Bloody Saber
Davis watched the progression of the Candidacy for some time before he returned his gaze to Stella.
"How come you vultures are not bald but have a ruby crown? Is it obtained, or is it a natural growth?
He saw that she was talking to a female Soul-Devouring Blood Vulture who was at the Immortal King Beast Stage.
Apparently, she was a failed Young Mistress candidate of this clan. She married Harmon.
By all means, he should've killed her but it seems that their marriage was only in-name and not fulfilled. Harmon was recently awoken in the Heavenly Ice Stasis Valley, so it wasn't like they promised to each other. In fact, she was married to Harmon to offset her failure to become a Young Mistress while Harmon himself didn't have time to fulfill the marriage as he trained for the Candidacy.
He confirmed through soul-searching her, so he didn't go as far as to kill her.
His targets here were Immortal Emperors alone. He killed as many as twelve of them, eight at the Early Stage, four at the Mid Stage, and one at the Late Stage. The Late Stage Immortal Emperor was a Soul-Devouring Blood Vulture Fey who barely managed to lock him down but was overpowered by Stella.
Needless to say, he had absorbed all of their soul essences and could comprehend their destructive karmic property through comprehension clouds, so he was rather excited.
Nevertheless, he did end up killing her grandfather, who was a Grand Elder, a Level Three Immortal Emperor Beast. But unexpectedly, she didn't feel any hatred towards him, as though she had welcomed such a result.
Nonetheless, seeing Stella casually talk to that female magical beast, he wanted to warn her not to be too friendly.
Then again, Stella was a good girl. Her natural disposition was she was kind to all life as long as they didn't needlessly provoke her. He wondered if it would be good to interfere in her growth as he didn't want to shape it into a deadly persona like her mother's. He liked her cheerfulness too.
"Your eminence, can you take me with you?"
Noticing his gaze, that female magical beast walked towards him and knelt on the ground, her gaze lowering.
"I'm prepared to be your magical beast mount, even if it means sharing a slave beast contract."
"You think you're worthy?" Davis coldly uttered, causing her to shudder.
She knew full and well how this person, who was on the same level as her, took down all the Immortal Emperors of her clan in a span of fifteen minutes. She guessed it would've been even earlier if the Immortal Emperors hadn't run around or if he hadn't slowly battled with them as though wanting to experience their powers, even their tricks and habits.
From what she had seen, it was a one-sided slaughter.
Such a person wouldn't even care about her. She heard he even had an Emperor-Tier Beast as a wife, so she wasn't shocked that she got rejected but felt fearful that she had overstepped her bounds.
However, no punishment came.
'Wait a minute… these Soul-Devouring Blood Vultures would make a fine mount for my Reaper Soul Legion…'
Davis suddenly thought but shook his head.
If beasts acted like beasts, it would be fine, but in this world, beasts were not only sentient but also cultured and civilized. He couldn't make them act like they were mounts alone and introduce a variable in his army.
'Well, the magical beasts in the true immortal world are mostly wild, like feral beasts, so I can cherry-pick them for my Reaper Soul Legion…'
Davis inwardly nodded. He also thought that the Reaper Soul Legion needed to strengthen themselves more than to ride some mounts. Even with the resources they obtained and the resources he granted them, they were finding it difficult to catch up with him or the prowess of his wives.
Even Yotan was barely keeping up, so he wanted to go see her soon to do something about it. Davis took out a saber and waved it in front of the entire clan as though showing off, causing their eyes to turn bloodshot or shameful. His lips couldn't help but curl as he knew that they wanted nothing but to kill him, as he made their clan a mess.
The item he took out was none other than the Soulfire Ruby Saber, the most powerful offensive Legacy Artifact of the Soul-Devouring Blood Vulture Clan.
From what he heard, it seemed to be forged from a fallen star, the ruby crystal on their forehead, and their talon. It was a sharp, curved blade approximately three feet in length. At its base, a massive blood-red ruby pulsated as though there was an inner fire that went out and burned brightly as though thirsting for blood.
As a Legacy Treasure, it had more than one ability.
The first was the Soulfire Strike, which allowed the saber to burst into blood-soul flames. If it stabbed a High-Level Immortal Emperor's soul body, the main body would have a ninety percent chance of dying because of its incredibly high destructive karmic property.
The second ability was called Bloodthirsty Sacrificial Empowerment. It was when ten percent of the user's blood essence was sacrificed to it, allowing it to temporarily boost one's max prowess by one level as long as they were compatible with blood attribute and didn't surpass the saber's grade. However, doing so would damage the blade itself, causing it to chip and become useless for a period of time. It was considered a last resort. Of course, he saw signs of this technique's activation, but Stella managed to yank it from that Immortal Emperor before he could activate it.
Most importantly, the third ability was called Blood Devouring Slash. It was a passive ability and seemed to be capable of stealing blood essence with every slash it made on a person, depending on where it cuts and how deep it cuts, making it ridiculously valuable.
This stored blood essence can then be used to unleash the Soulfire Strike repeatedly, and in the case it possesses the blood of the victim when it struck the victim, its destructive karmic prowess would only rise in power, leaving the slashes almost untreatable due to the remnant energy haunting them if they didn't die from the attacks.
They would eventually succumb sooner than later if left untreated.
It made him once again understand why they would be chased to extinction. They may be small in numbers, but their average prowess was above average, comparable to Dragons and Phoenixes, while the danger they posed was much more significant.
Davis took a second look at the Soulfire Ruby Saber.
He couldn't think of any better weapon than this for Schleya.
However, he also knew Schleya was too attached to her blood-attributed curved blades, Crescentblood. He didn't know if she would use this armament even if she accepted it.
In the same way, Davis also felt if Schleya needed the Soul-Devouring Blood Vulture's blood essence, he could use this female magical beast as a source.
He saw that she still didn't reveal any kind of hatred towards him. Even his Heart Intent failed to find any. In fact, there was only gratefulness and fear, making him honestly confused. He guessed that she didn't want that marriage or to be controlled, but if she didn't want to be controlled, it didn't make sense for her to offer herself to him on a silver platter and come under him with a slave beast contract.
'She's after power…?'
Davis guessed before he kept the saber inside his spatial ring and opened his mouth.
"What is your name?" He already knew, but he still asked her.
"My name is Licora Harmon."
Davis couldn't help but smile.
The Harmon didn't come from marrying Harmon but she was part of the Harmon Clan that Harmon created before he went to sleep in the Heavenly Ice Stasis Valley. So in essentiality, Harmon was marrying his own great granddaughter hundreds or thousands of generations down the line, which made them mostly divorced from each other's genetics but still made Davis laugh as the cultivation world was funny with these types of relationships.
He raised his hand, his voice echoing out in a commanding tone, "I may have a need for you in the near future. You may wait for me, and if I don't come within a month, it means I don't need you."
"Understood, your eminence- no, my lord~"
"…"
Davis inwardly shook his head at Licora Harmon's words.
She was going to be hated by her brethren and sisters to death, as what she did was a clear betrayal of her clan. However, it wasn't like they couldn't do anything about it, as she was the strongest person here.
Despite being a magical beast, he could sense her prowess was three levels higher.
Clearly, her soul was mightier than any Saint Magical Beast.
As for the Young Mistress, she had been a Level Two Immortal Emperor whom he carved her bird face with Yama and caused her to screech loudly before he severed her into two. Perhaps Licora Harmon liked that scene and chose to come under him as he saw in her memories that she hated the Young Mistress very much for bullying and torturing her with influence.
It was like her suppressed soul had finally been granted relief by him.
