Chapter 4256 A Meteor Strikes Verdant Vale
"Shishishi~"
Above the skies of the once glorious Verdant Vale Sect, the Heaven's Warriors who chose to stay in order to protect this place suddenly heard a child's laughter, which sent chills down their spine.
Becoming alarmed, they instantly looked up and around, searching for this voice that they vaguely remember hearing in a projection that the Divine Emperor of Death once disbursed to threaten over nine Realm Masters.
Purple-black flames abruptly lit up in the dark skies, causing everyone to turn in that direction. Like a meteor, the sphere of purple-black flames descended, appearing as though it was going to smash through the formations head-on.
The Heaven's Warriors' scalp turned numb.
The illusion formations reacted instantly, shifting the sect's appearance into a barren wasteland, then a jagged mountain ridge, desperately trying to conceal its presence as well as confuse any lifeform into circling around like it was a maze. But the flames, filled with eerie malevolence, ignored the deceptions as if they were mere shadows.
*BOOM!~*
Like a meteor from the heavens, the flaming sphere plummeted, slamming into the first layer of the Verdant Vale's defensive formations. Golden runes flared, forming a barrier of shimmering light. The impact sent shockwaves rippling outward, causing the very air to tremble and space to be sundered. The formation held for a mere… second.
*Crack!~*
Then, cracks spread like creeping vines. A deafening shatter followed, the first layer of formation breaking apart in a dazzling explosion of light and energy.
The Heaven's Warriors, watching from within, paled in horror, "The first formation fell already!?"
The second formation activated, runes of deflection forming a rippling dome over the sect grounds. A brilliant emerald glow enveloped the land and the skies, pulsing with the power of wood and water. Even the heaven and earth veins beneath the sect surged, fueling the barrier with raw heaven and earth energy. Yet, the purple-black flames above seemed to pulse in response… as if amused.
Then, the purple-black flames twisted, spiraling like a living thing.
"Shishi~" A giggle echoed out in a cute yet eerie fashion again.
The sphere expanded, then contracted sharply, condensing into a smaller, more concentrated force before piercing through the barrier like a dagger through flesh. The second formation, an actual defensive formation, collapsed, sending a shockwave rolling across the mountains.
The third layer of defense, killing formations, stirred into covering the space.
A silent, deadly array of hidden runes ignited across the sect grounds, their presence invisible to ordinary eyes. They awakened like sleeping predators, responding to the intruder with ruthless efficiency as they locked on. Blades of condensed energy shot forth from the air. Spikes of hardened earth erupted from the ground. Phantom chains, forged from pure soul force, lashed out to bind the approaching calamity.
But just as the killing formations activated, the purple-black flames halted in midair.
A figure emerged from the fires of apocalypse, a small spirit girl who looked to be no more than eight years old.
She floated lazily amidst the purple-black blaze, her long purple hair drifting weightlessly as if she existed in a dream. Her bare feet hovered above the air as she spread her hands. She wore a playful smile, her crimson-gold eyes twinkling with something between amusement and predatory.
"Mmm~ So many little traps… but they won't work on me~"
She lifted a delicate finger on each hand as she waved.
*Sizzle!~* *Sizzle!~*
A wave of silent destruction spread outward as a tsunami of purple-black flames rolled forth. The killing formations dimmed instantly, their runes blackening and crumbling into nothingness. Blades were erased, spikes ground to dust, and phantom chains evaporated. The killing arrays that should have annihilated any trespasser looked as though they had been reduced to mere decorations.
After that, the last line of defense that blocked the path to the Realm Core, the protective formations flared to life one after another, their glowing radiance trying to keep off the apocalyptic calamity. However, it flickered as though it was scared when, in truth, the tsunami of purple-black flames also affected its formation structure.
"Really?" King blinked as his voice trailed off in a stupefied manner.
He hovered in the skies along with many others. The other beasts were also speechless, while Lest Mistwalker blinked, wondering if there was any purpose for him to come here.
"Is she really going to leave nothing for us to play with?"
"Don't blame Calypsea. She loves destroying things, so let her vent and have fun." Illumina said calmly.
"She will go straight to the Realm Core so we can pick out the leftovers later. Illumina and Vereina, watch out for Venerable Knights returning. They are not to be trifled with. As for the others, let's go." Lereza shot forward, and the others followed her.
Calypsea quickly broke through the last line of defense and descended.
Only a few Heaven's Warriors tried to near her, but they were burned instantly by the heat. This made the other Heaven's Warriors discouraged and demoralized. Even though they still had over seven Late Stage Autarchs, they were scared to face this calamity.
"It's over…" A few looked pale and had quickly given up.
They couldn't muster any courage or see a better future when something like this exists and tears apart Peak-Level Autarch Grade Formations like it was nothing. It had to be known that the Venerable Knights personally funded and built these formations, so for it to break like this was a pure mockery of them and struck sheer terror in their hearts.
They even went as far as to mask these formations as something weaker. Otherwise, they felt that the Divine Emperor of Death wouldn't come, but now, they felt like slapping themselves and made all nine Venerable Knights stay here.
"Hey, don't look there! Let's play."
King descended in his human form as he possessed a dark smile.
The other eleven, except Illumina, also covered the space around the Realm Core while Lest Mistwalker ignored the Heaven's Warriors and quickly got to building the formation he had invented in the past year.
"Realm Core Spirit, how have you been!?"
Calypsea paid no heed to the surroundings. She touched the Realm Core and quickly began communicating through the Fires of Life Language with playful excitement as she licked her lips. Since she had eaten two Realm Core Essences before, she knew it tasted different.
She couldn't wait to taste it again other than doing what she was told to, which was to enthrone a new Realm Master!
