“From today on, you are members of the Qin family.”

Li Wen's face was expressionless as she stood in front of Wang Hai and Wang Zhi, with a servant behind her holding two sets of black military uniforms which she handed to them.

“As evolved individuals, you will enjoy the treatment of military officers. Your housing and meals will be provided by the family.”

Li Wen then took out two black cards and handed them to Wang Hai. “You have a D-level talent, and you will receive 2,000 merit points each month. You can use these points to exchange for energy cores, gene potions, and weaponry.”

She then looked at Wang Zhi with a trace of displeasure in her eyes. “You have a B-level talent, and you will receive 3,500 merit points each month.”

Wang Hai happily accepted the card, inspecting it with delight. He had only one thought in his mind—choosing this path was indeed the right decision! 

Not to mention, this villa was far more comfortable than the shelter he was previously in. His previous room in the temporary shelter was just ten square meters with only a bed, incomparable to this luxury.

Her tone grew colder and more menacing when she mentioned immediate execution, making Wang Hai's heart skip a beat, and he quickly nodded.

Wang Zhi was initially started but, being strong-willed, she immediately retorted, “I'm not the only one with such thoughts, am I?”

Li Wen's expression stiffened. She had once been a special agent nurtured by the Qin family and had almost become Qin Jun's personal bodyguard, but was overshadowed by Xie Han at the last moment. 

After the apocalypse, she awakened her talent and became an evolved individual under the Qin family, which elevated her status considerably but distanced her from Qin Jun. 

Seeing Wang Zhi, a newcomer, daring to dream of Qin Jun made her instantly hostile.

However, Li Wen said nothing more and left with only a parting remark, “Prepare yourselves. The young master will be taking a team to Donghua City tomorrow, and you are to lead the way.”

After Li Wen left, Wang Hai grumbled to Wang Zhi, “Why did you have to provoke her?”

Wang Zhi snorted but said nothing, her mind drifting back to Qin Jun's incredibly handsome face and his noble, high-and-mighty demeanor that captivated her.

The next day, a large convoy departed from Dongdu, heading towards Donghua City. Qin Jun did not bring many soldiers, only a mixed reinforced battalion with a strength of 1,200 men. 

In the apocalypse, ordinary soldiers were useful for defending fortifications and firepower points but were less effective against zombies and mutated creatures in the wild. After all, a mutated soldier could become a significant threat.

However, Qin Jun brought over 70 evolved individuals. Over the past few days, more people had awakened their talents. 

With the Qin family monopolizing the nearby subspace dungeons and obtaining talent seeds, they had created a batch of evolved individuals.

This was once the largest hospital in Donghua City and had now become the largest shelter in the city. 

The hospital's perimeter walls had been reinforced with iron and wooden boards, topped with barbed wire, and surrounded by defensive trenches. 

This shelter housed tens of thousands of survivors but maintained a strict hierarchical structure.

The elderly and useless lived in tents in the courtyard, surrounded by the stench of filth. The young, healthy men lived in the hospital wards and staff dormitories, valued for their labor. 

The evolved individuals enjoyed the VIP rooms on the higher floors, which had been converted into more comfortable living quarters. 

The top floor, once the hospital director's office, belonged to one person. The floor that one lived on symbolized their status.

On the highest floor, a woman's screams echoed, and a few thugs outside the door exchanged knowing smirks. The screams grew weaker and finally ceased. 

After a while, the door opened, and a brutish man stepped out. He was unnaturally tall, nearly three meters, with explosive muscles like a mountain of flesh, exuding an oppressive aura that made anyone's legs go weak at a glance.

This was the owner of the shelter and the most powerful evolved individual in Donghua City—Blood Bear.
