Chapter 305: Let’s end this.
‘…Nerissa?’
Kael’s eyes widened in shock.
Sure, the current version looked much younger than the one he saw in the previous Vision, but he was sure.
He could never forget those silver eyes and hair.
It was that woman…
In an instant, Kael’s anger shot up and at the same time, thousands of questions appeared in his head.
‘What is she doing here…? Is she their ally?’
He wondered.
‘If this is true then…
Does this mean all of this is pointless…?’
Kael’s mind shook.
The Future Kael, on the other hand, didn’t seem to share his worries. He simply observed the five people who had surrounded him and after a slight pause, he gave in.
“The lesser worlds Creston sent us to existed to strengthen us.”
He glanced at Alaric, the only one he could actually convince and,
“We reached a level that even the strongest of those worlds—who had trained all their lives—couldn’t reach, in just one or two years.
Do you think that’s because all of us are the chosen ones or something?
Don’t be foolish.
Millions of us were sent to millions of different worlds, and every single one of us returned as the strongest of their respective worlds?
Does this mean every single one of us had that level of potential?”
“…”
The humans narrowed their eyes. Obviously, that was impossible. A few was still believable, but if it happened with every single human who managed to return…
Then there must be something else at play here.
“All of that happened because all the lesser worlds connected to Creston hold a special power.”
The Future Kael spoke, and this time, Alaric reacted to his words.
“The Hero’s Blessing…”
He muttered out loud and the Future Kael nodded,
“Yes, we all call it the Hero’s Blessing.
The lesser world blessed us—the Heroes who came from a foreign world—with a growth rate much faster than one could imagine.
This was the reason we grew so fast.
However…”
The Future Kael paused again, once again observing everyone before…
“The ‘Hero’s Blessing’ doesn’t just work on the ‘Heroes’ who were summoned to those worlds.
It works on every foreign entity that steps into those worlds.”
“So you are saying…”
A woman’s eyes widened in fright as she realized what these words meant, and at her words, Kael nodded with a grim look on his face.
“The monsters that we sent to those worlds…
They must have received the Hero’s Blessing as well.
So once they are here, we are going to face a far stronger version of these monsters than we would have if we had faced them normally like Creston wanted us to.”
The Future Kael revealed, his words terrorizing the people surrounding him. Even Alaric’s face turned pale.
Not just him, even the other humans who stood far from the six of them but were hearing his words were frightened as well.
The monsters who were strengthened by the Hero’s Blessing…
As people who were on the receiving end of the said blessing, they could imagine the terrifying destruction they would face if such monsters came to Creston… all at the same time.
Seeing their motionless bodies, the Future Kael knew his words were working. He continued,
“Do not be mistaken.
One way or another, we still need to face those monsters.
They came for Creston and they will not leave before Creston falls or they do.
The monsters we sent to other lesser worlds, they will return eventually, stronger than before. It wouldn’t be surprising if they all returned here at the same time but…”
The Future Kael stared at Alaric and,
“Nerathis still cannot fall.
We have made too many mistakes, we cannot make another.
We cannot afford to make another—not this one, not Nerathis.”
The man who had interrupted Kael before narrowed his eyes at those words, but Kael ignored him and—
“Nerathis is the strongest lesser world.
The Hero’s Blessing in Nerathis is the strongest.
If we send the monsters behind this Gate there, they will grow at a horrifying rate.
I know this because I come from that world.
If worse comes to worst…”
The Future Kael paused for a moment, then, in a heavy voice,
“We might face another… me.”
He declared, and in an instant, Kael saw how their faces became even paler. Some humans at the back even lost their balance, almost as if the very thought of facing another Dragon Lord horrified them to their very core.
It was a reaction that made Kael frown.
Once again, he glanced at his surroundings and—
‘Wait…’
He realized something.
Hundreds of dead humans…
The rest of the humans looking at him with wary looks on their faces…
This…
All this death and destruction, the dead humans and dragons…
‘This all happened because they fought… me?’
Kael’s body shook.
‘I… killed all of them…?’
He couldn’t believe it.
‘Why? Why did I do it?’
He wondered, and once again, his eyes fell on the Portal behind Alaric,
‘To protect the Portal…?’
He thought inwardly.
It was definitely a possibility.
But before Kael could think all this further,
“That’s quite a story you came up with, I give you that.”
The man who had been interrupting him all this while laughed out loud.
“How did you even come up with that? I guess fear of death awakened your creativity, eh?”
The man then glanced at Kael and,
“Did you think it would work?
Did you think we would let you live if you came up with a random story at the last moment?
After so many sacrifices, we finally found a way to efficiently deal with Gates that had been terrorizing our world for such a long time without suffering any casualties, and you want us to believe that this is actually leading us to our destruction?
How ridiculous!”
He shouted.
His words echoed throughout the battlefield, pulling the dazed humans out of their reverie.
Yes!
All of this was nothing more than a story the Dragon Lord had come up with because of fear of death.
He has no way to prove himself.
They made up their minds.
“I am n—”
Kael tried to explain himself, but the man turned towards Alaric.
“Alaric, stop listening to this guy.
Other than a random story, he doesn’t have anything.
Let’s end this.”
The man announced.
