Shumi sat at the back of a large hall, watching the tournament with a few thousand other people. A few people had tried to approach her during this time, but with Fairy Xin right next to her, no one dared to.
She had left the place where the tournament was being held a while ago and had arrived at the Pillheaven Continent. Here, she now waited for the day when the inter-realm teleportation formation would activate again.
She had heard it would take just a day to prepare it, and it had been some time since then. She would be leaving very soon.
Shumi watched the competition with some intrigue, given her curiosity regarding Alex, a man who had saved her when she was young. He was a man from a world where she had lived in the past.
She wondered what else he knew about her.
She wanted to know what it was that she had felt with him around—the feeling of being dragged toward him, like metal to a magnet. Her curiosity surrounding him as a subject was very high.
And now that she knew she was leaving this world, she could only wonder when she would meet him again.
Shumi noticed some movement next to her and turned to see Fairy Xin’s legs shaking while she sat there.
“Is something wrong?” Shumi asked with worry. “You look nervous.”
“Hmm? Oh.” The shaking stopped. “It’s nothing, don’t worry about it.”
Shumi didn’t believe her. “Does it have anything to do with why we had to leave the stadium in a hurry?” she asked.
Fairy Xin grimaced a little but said nothing.
Shumi frowned. “I have always trusted you to do the right thing for me, and you have, which is why I do everything you tell me to do. But some of the things that have been happening for the past few days have been strange, Sister Xin. At some point, you’re going to have to explain something. You can’t expect me to follow you around after making decisions that no sane person would. You have to explain yourself.”
Fairy Xin didn’t react for a moment, but then she nodded her head. “I understand,” she said. “I will see what explanations I can give you once we go to the next world. For now, trust me.”
Shumi nodded and turned back to watch the tournament.
Fairy Xin turned back as well and watched Alex on the stage, making some random pills. The Alchemy God’s commentary on everything that was being done by the contestants told her that he was making random pills that didn’t have much to do with the competition itself.
She wondered what exactly it was that he was doing in that case.
And what it had to do with whatever was going to happen very soon.
‘What major event will take place here?’ she thought. ‘And what does that have to do with him?’
It was clear from the start, despite the man having not spoken about him, that the event would involve the young man on the projected image at some point in the future.
As for what that event was, Fairy Xin now desperately wanted to be present for it as well. However, she couldn’t leave Shumi alone. Shumi needed to leave this world for that event, and she was not going to go anywhere without her.
Fairy Xin had a responsibility toward Shumi to watch over her until she was strong enough to look after herself.
A little over a day remained for the final competition when everyone who was watching the tournament was notified that the teleportation formation was ready. It was time for them to leave.
Just a day more, and she would find out who the winner was, but since time was against her at this moment, she had to leave.
Shumi got up and turned toward Fairy Xin. “We failed, didn’t we?” she asked.
Fairy Xin paused for a moment and nodded. “We completely and utterly failed.”
Shumi took a deep breath. “Then let us make sure we do not fail on the next part too,” she said.
Fairy Xin nodded. “We won’t,” she said. She knew they couldn’t afford to fail. What they were going to do next was the entire reason they had come to the Human Immortal realms after all.
The Medicine World was just a stop and not the final destination.
Shumi and Fairy Xin started walking away, leaving the hall with the many others that would be leaving this world prematurely, right before the ending of the competition.
Shumi took one last look at Alex in the recorded images and hoped to learn more about him in the future. She had questions, and she wanted their answers. She was willing to wait a long time for them too.
“Let us go.”
Half an hour later, the two women left the Medicine World to go to the Eclipsing Heaven. Neither of them could have ever realized at that precise moment what their departure meant for the future of the entire world.

Starsight sat in the Chamber of Gods toward the back with a Reverend who had come on behalf of the Blood God and a disciple of the disciple of the current Golden God. She merely chatted with them throughout the competition while continuing to enjoy what was happening.
She was in the middle of one of those conversations when she suddenly sensed something.
Her eyes wandered around for a moment, confused.
“Is everything alright, Senior?” the grand disciple of the Golden God asked.
The Blood God’s Reverend waited for her to talk as well.
“My apologies, but I will have to put an end to our conversation,” she said. “Something has come up.”
Neither of the two could say anything but simply excuse her.
Starsight walked out of the room and left for someplace quieter with a lot fewer people around. She found a VIP room that was empty and went in.
Immediately, Starsight closed her eyes and began divining.
She had realized just moments ago that something had changed. The restriction on her divination had somewhat been lifted. As she divined, the restrictions on divining still prevented her from seeing a lot, but she could start seeing some things again.
If she wanted to perform a proper divination, she needed to get closer to the people. Thankfully, she could at least do something for now.
To test how much leeway she had at that very moment, she began divining the upcoming future. Her intention was merely to see if she could find out who the winner was.
She saw that future in bits and pieces, none of which she could piece together to find an answer. She began shortening the timeframe, making the future closer and closer.
Starsight saw an additional figure on the stage in one of her glimpses of the future but couldn’t tell where that person had come from.
Pulling her divination further closer to the present, she finally saw something rather clearly. Her eyes opened wide at that very moment, and she ran up to the giant windows through which she could see the stage down below.
Her eyes landed down there for only a moment before she lifted her head and looked toward the open sky.
Something big was going to happen very soon.
