Chapter 2809: New Plan
When Alex came back to life, his mind was wrought with pain, his senses weakened because of his soul being wounded earlier.
He lay on the ground at that point, so he quickly got up, bringing out his sword to fight in a hurry. The sword shattered the moment he brought it out.
Death retaliated faster than he could prepare to fight back. His sword was destroyed first, and then his body. He was cut down where he stood, and he soon understood what was going to happen next.
He was going to die and die and continue dying for a long time before this all ended.
At least, this time his death wasn’t in vain. He knew something more about the woman that stood before him.
Over the course of the next day, Alex died many times, the last few of which took him a long time to come back to life.
It took a while before Alex regained consciousness and found Death absent. He let his body heal a little more and felt at his senses.
Nineteen days. It had been nineteen days since he died here.
He stood up and looked at the situation that Death had left behind. When he did, he found himself in the middle of the beast corpses, with the old man nowhere to be found.
He grabbed his head a little, still feeling weak. Neither his body nor his mind had fully healed.
Alex brought out Whisker and gave him a task.
“Can you collect all the blood from around this place for me and gather it around me? Also, check if some of these corpses have infected Beast cores. We need to take care of those before they turn into Sun Wraiths.”
Whisker nodded and immediately got to work.
Alex sat down at the center and began absorbing energy. Bit by bit, he consumed a lot of Blood Aura into his body, slowly improving it. It improved significantly enough that Alex was happy with what he received.
With Whisker’s help, he did not let much of the Blood Aura go to waste. It was half a day later when he was still in the middle of absorbing the aura that Alex saw the old man fly down from the sky and land close to them.
“My god…” the old man said in a hushed voice. “You really are alive.”
“I told you I wouldn’t die,” Alex said. “Where were you, senior?”
“Following her,” the old man said. “I honestly thought it was pointless to follow her since she had killed you, but you’re actually alive.”
“Oh… I should’ve warned you. It takes me longer to come back to life with each subsequent death,” Alex explained.
The old man nodded. “Honestly, when you flopped to the ground at the start, I thought you were dead just then. But then you came back to life again and again.”
“The first time? Oh, I entered her Divine Sea,” Alex said. “It was so confusing because there was nothing there.”
“You entered her Divine Sea?” the old man asked in surprise. “When I tried it, she didn’t let me.”
Alex appeared confused for a second before realizing. “You mean 60,000 years ago?” he asked.
The old man nodded.
Alex shrugged. “Maybe something had changed. Anyway, it’s completely vacant. I thought her soul might be at the bottom of the sea, but when I tried to go down there, my soul ended up dying.”
“Your soul died?” the old man asked in a shocked tone. “You can live even when your soul dies?”
“Just like my body, I can regenerate my soul too,” Alex explained. Of course, he kept the part about his body and soul being connected. As long as his soul was alive, his body would return, and as long as his body was alive, his soul would return.
The only way to truly kill someone in the 3rd Stage of the Undying God Physique was to destroy both their body and soul at the same time, letting no part of them remain.
Not everyone was aware of this. Although, that didn’t mean they didn’t have the power to do so. Most Gods would be able to do so without much issue. Although, when the Sword God Purplerain tried to kill him, he only tried to kill him enough times so he lost out on Qi.
That man had likely experienced fighting someone in the 2nd Stage of the Undying God Physique.
“Well, it’s good that you’re alive,” the old man said. “So, what do we do now?”
“Do you know where she’s going now?” Alex asked.
“She took a left. She’s headed in that direction,” the old man said, pointing. “She left about three days ago, so she isn’t that far away.”
Death could only walk bit by bit, and she stood around to fight for a long time should beasts gather. So even if they were to take another week of break, she wouldn’t reach very far.
“We need a different plan,” Alex said after thinking for a while. “My initial plan was to help her regain her mind, but her mind is gone from what would be the greatest place to help her. Now, I have just one more option really.”
The old man looked curious. “What option is that?” he asked.
“I need to tire her,” Alex said. “I need to make her fight over and over without end.”
The old man narrowed his eyes. “You do realize how much she fights, right? Just look around yourself.”
“I do see this,” Alex said. “But she gets breaks in between her fights, doesn’t she? The beasts aren’t constant, and she has no issue killing them. But if I can be an issue to her somehow, then I can force her to burn herself out. Maybe then I’ll have a chance to figure out just what is really wrong with her.”
The old man didn’t think it would work, but it wouldn’t hurt to try.
“When do we start?” he asked.
“Once I’m more of a trouble for her to cut me down,” Alex said. “Whisker, it’s time for me to drink all the Elixir I can.”
