Eternal Tale

Chapter 368: First Transaction

The leaderboard was not something Chen Xun planned to purchase; it had no immediate use and seemed tailored for the large factions.

When they had first descended into the Three Thousand Great Worlds, they had clearly resisted the invasion of the world's origin without having their lifelines extracted.

Otherwise...

Chen Xun suddenly found the idea amusing. His bone age was only twenty; could his soul age also be twenty? If he appeared on the leaderboard, it might cause quite the stir.

He glanced at Sister Crane. If her soul age corresponded to her physical form's age, her appearance as a being with a million-year lifespan might create an unprecedented sensation in the Great World.

“Big Brother?”

Sister Crane tilted her head, puzzled by Chen Xun’s stare. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” Chen Xun replied with a slight smile. “This leaderboard is of no immediate use to us.”

He turned his gaze elsewhere. “When we’ve earned enough spirit stones, I’d like to buy a leaderboard of the Ten Thousand Races Rankings. I’m curious where humanity stands.”

“Moo~~”

“Brother Ox, you’re interested too? Hah, maybe there’s even a ranking for the Ox Clan.”

“Moo!” Brother Ox chuckled, though inwardly he doubted it. He had rarely encountered any other ox-type spiritual beasts, either in the small realm or in this grand world.

“Big Brother, do you think the Flameglow Ancient Lion Clan exists in this world?” Xiao Chi asked hesitantly.

Chen Xun stroked his chin and replied thoughtfully, “It should. With how vast the Three Thousand Great Worlds are, there’s no species they don’t have. You’ll encounter them sooner or later.”

Sister Crane smiled warmly but remained silent. She had no clan of her own; her family consisted only of these few companions.

Xiao Chi wagged his head back and forth, muttering to himself, before catching up to the others as they continued exploring.

Time passed quietly as the group wandered through the first level of the Spiritual Treasure Pavilion. Their curiosity sparked repeated exclamations of awe. The goods on display ranged from small and intricate artifacts, like timing devices, to grand and expensive treasures.

Chen Xun eventually branched off to examine the alchemy furnaces. The options were diverse, with every grade represented, but the prices were staggering, starting at tens of thousands of mid-grade spirit stones.

“The Northern Cold Scorching Furnace should suffice once repaired; no need to splurge on these pricey forges,” Chen Xun mused, his steps deliberate. “The materials from the garbage fields can be repurposed. After some reforging, it will be as good as new.”

He felt a sentimental attachment to his old alchemy furnace, which had served him faithfully over the years. Replacing it seemed unnecessary.

“Senior.”

Chen Xun turned toward the voice and saw a middle-aged man clad in an elegant green robe approaching. The man exuded a lazy yet polite demeanor, his cultivation at the mid-stage of the Deity Transformation Realm.

“This junior is Yun Jin,” the man said, bowing respectfully. “I noticed Senior has been browsing for quite some time. Have any of our furnaces caught your eye?”

Yun Jin’s keen gaze lingered on Chen Xun. He was certain this senior was new to the city and likely a Void Refinement cultivator. Such a customer could bring substantial business to the pavilion.

“Not particularly,” Chen Xun replied evenly. “Does the Pavilion purchase cultivation resources?”

Yun Jin’s eyes flickered with understanding as he offered a faint smile. “Senior, our pavilion does not purchase completed artifacts. Might I ask what you intend to sell?”

Chen Xun raised an eyebrow. The statement revealed much. The pavilion likely avoided external artifacts due to concerns over quality and reputation. Instead, they relied on their in-house refiners to produce goods.

Selling completed artifacts would tarnish their brand and introduce risks.

“I wish to sell some Great Desolate Crow God Crystals. Would the pavilion be interested?”

“Senior, please follow me.” Yun Jin’s expression became more focused. “The Spiritual Treasure Pavilion is always interested in purchasing Great Desolate Crow God Crystals. Let’s discuss this in the Bamboo Whisper Pavilion.”

Yun Jin led Chen Xun through a shimmering spatial portal into a lush bamboo grove. The serene environment, dotted with stone tables and shaded pavilions, exuded tranquility.

Chen Xun took in the surroundings, his eyes bright with interest. “So this is the famed Heavenly Grotto?”

Yun Jin gestured toward a stone table. “Please have a seat, Senior.”

Once seated, Yun Jin prepared tea with practiced elegance. “Senior, how much Great Desolate Crow God Crystal do you wish to sell? We purchase at the standard rate: one hundred mid-grade spirit stones per jin.”

Chen Xun set down his teacup, his expression calm. “Four hundred jin.”

The tea kettle in Yun Jin’s hand wobbled slightly, betraying his surprise. A Void Refinement cultivator selling only four hundred jin?

Recovering quickly, Yun Jin offered a smooth smile. “Four hundred jin amounts to forty thousand mid-grade spirit stones. The transaction can be completed immediately.”

Yun Jin retrieved a black Spirit Mark—a rectangular device gleaming with an ethereal light. The words “Spiritual Treasure Pavilion” were engraved on its surface.

Chen Xun waved a hand. “I don’t have a Spirit Mark. Can we conduct this in physical spirit stones instead?”

For a moment, Yun Jin’s calm demeanor faltered. “Of course, Senior.”

He tapped the Spirit Mark, and the table was suddenly covered in neatly stacked mid-grade spirit stones. The gems shimmered with refined energy, their purity far surpassing the inferior stones Chen Xun had seen before.

Chen Xun examined the spirit stones closely, noting their perfectly symmetrical facets and the pure spiritual mist swirling within. “Excellent quality,” he murmured, satisfaction gleaming in his eyes.
