Chapter 403: Chapter 403 Contract

Michael watched as the auction staff moved into action.

They approached various members of the audience—especially those who had purchased something—and politely guided them away.

At the same time, some people raised their hands, calling to be escorted elsewhere as well.

According to Arianne, they were heading to the auction house’s standard post-event store.

“It’s just a normal one-time shop,” she’d explained. “They sell moderately rare items. Things any capable person could buy elsewhere if they looked hard enough.”

Michael gave a nod, only half-listening as he watched the movement below.

It didn’t take long before a soft knock came at the door of their private room.

Michael glanced toward the door just as it creaked open.

A young woman stepped inside—an auction staff member. She carried a small stack of papers in hand and a polite, professional expression on her face.

The moment she stepped in, her eyes immediately locked onto Arianne.

She bowed deeply. “Greetings, Lady Evermoon. I’ve come to confirm the identity of the winning bidder for the dark elf assassin and the Poison Wyvern Blood Essence.”

Then she turned slightly toward Michael, her expression shifting just a fraction. Surprise flickered in her eyes.

She hadn’t expected anyone else in the room.

But for some reason, she also felt the youth in front of her looked a bit familiar.

Before she could speak, Arianne cut in with a small smile. “Oh, the items weren’t for me.”

The woman blinked, momentarily stunned. She looked between Arianne and Michael again—once, then twice.

Then her gaze lingered on Michael, confusion now obvious in her eyes.

She tried to recover her professional poise, bowing slightly to him as well. “My apologies, sir. I wasn’t informed there was another guest in Room Eleven.”

Michael waved it off calmly. “No issue.”

The staffer quickly shook herself free of the confusion and returned to business. “Very well. May I confirm your identity, sir, for the record?”

“Mic Nor.”

It was then it clicked to the staff.

So this was Mic Nor!

No wonder he looked familiar!

After all she had watched bits of the competition a few days ago but she never expected to see him now.

Her gaze shifted between the two people in front of her and a suspicious thought came to her. However, she didn’t dare to speak of it.

“Your items will be delivered shortly. We ask that payment be confirmed before the transfer.”

“Of course,” Michael replied smoothly.

The woman bowed once more, cast one last curious glance between him and Arianne, and stepped out.

Once the door clicked shut, Michael leaned back slightly and sighed.

It shouldn’t be long before the next knock came—and with it, the delivery of two acquisitions.

One blood essence..

And one dark elf assassin.

As he waited for the staff to arrive, Michael subtly reached into his coat, his fingers brushing against the invisible boundary of his storage space. With practiced ease, he withdrew the exact amount of golden papers he needed—plus a little extra.

A golden paper was worth 1000 gold coins.

With his huge purchase, Michael just needed a bit close to one hundred and fifty.

Leaving the golden papers in his coat, Michael waited.

Fortunately, he didn’t need to wait for long.

The knock came

Two attendants entered. One held a polished wooden box, its surface engraved with flowing patterns of ancient beast script. The other guided something far more attention-grabbing.

The dark elf assassin.

She was tall, graceful even in chains, her ashen skin marred by cuts and grime. Her silver-white hair spilled over her face, partly concealing crimson eyes that stared ahead with dull fury. She was barefoot, dressed in a tattered black outfit, and bound in glowing magic chains that shimmered with blue runes.

The chains wrapped around her limbs, neck, and even her waist—each link humming faintly with suppressive power.

Michael’s eyes narrowed slightly. He could tell with a glance that those chains were no joke. The elf, in her current state, probably couldn’t overpower a well-fed adult man.

The attendant with the box stepped forward and handed it over with both hands. “This contains the Poison Wyvern Blood Essence, sir. We advise great caution. Even sealed, the energy within is volatile.”

Michael took it, feeling a faint vibration even through the reinforced wood. He nodded and carefully placed it aside before turning his attention to the dark elf.

Before he could speak, the attendant in charge of the dark elf spoke as he brought out a scroll.

The man unfurled the scroll . It was bound in silver thread, its parchment a strange, translucent material that shimmered faintly in the light. Runes pulsed across its surface like a heartbeat.

“This,” the attendant said clearly, “is the Master-Servant Contract.”

Michael’s gaze sharpened.

“This scroll is a rare, high-grade binding tool. Upon activation, it establishes a soul-level contract between the signatory and the bound target. Once linked, the servant is unable to directly or indirectly harm the master. Any attempt, even through deception or suggestion, will be met with automatic backlash.”

He paused, then added solemnly, “The servant must also obey any direct command issued by the master. Absolute obedience, unless the command is physically impossible to carry out.”

Michael raised a brow. “And if the servant refuses?”

“The contract enforces obedience with soul pressure. And should the master ever desire it—” The attendant turned the scroll slightly, revealing a black rune shaped like a dagger. “—they can use this seal to end the servant’s life instantly. A single thought is all it takes.”

Arianne’s expression didn’t change, but her eyes flicked toward the elf thoughtfully.

Michael, meanwhile, frowned slightly. It felt… extreme.

“Does she know?” he asked quietly.

“She does,” the attendant replied, stepping aside to reveal the elf fully.

The dark elf didn’t move. Her crimson eyes met Michael’s without fear—but they lacked submission too. Cold, resigned defiance. There was a sharp intelligence in her gaze, even through the grime.

She knew what was coming.
