First Demonic Dragon

Chapter 978 - 978: Dark Movements...

– A few minutes before the phone call…

Audrina dropped to her knees in her bedroom and slipped her arm underneath the bed.

She fumbled around a bit before she pulled out a wooden box hidden below.

Unclasping the locking mechanism, she lifted the lid and stared at the box’s contents.

Gently, she lifted her hand and ran her fingers over the black blades sitting within bound cloth. The familiar rattle of chains gave her stomach a slightly anxious feeling.

There was a knock at the door suddenly. Lailah came in, followed by a figure in a violet dress.

Audrina looked up at her and smiled. “Sister. You came.”

Isabelle stepped into the bedroom reverently, having never been inside of her sister’s bedroom before.

“You remembered me… I’m surprised.” she said coolly.

Audrina’s eyes became dejected as she removed her items from the box. “I feel like that’s something I should be saying, don’t you? Last I checked, you stopped answering my calls first.”

“I was a little busy.” Isabelle dismessed.

Audrina scoffed as she went towards a dresser. “Yes. I’m sure going out every night is very demanding of you. Clubs won’t frequent themselves after all.”

Lailah wisely decided to exit the room before things started flying.

“Are you kidding me? I didn’t come here to be insulted, Audrina!” Isabelle snapped. “If you have nothing more to say then I’m going back home and-“

“Father’s turned up.” Audrina suddenly said.

She heard her sister’s heart skip a beat.

“…And what exactly is the old man up to in this life? Thought you said you couldn’t find him.” Isabelle said with much less attitude than before.

“We couldn’t. But my love has had a vision, and from that we were able to pinpoint a location.” Audrina divulged.

Isabelle folded her arms across her chest as she leaned against the fireplace. “So why call me for this..?”

“We’re both in the vision, sister. I don’t believe I should ignore that.”

Audrina pulled on a long-sleeved black t-shirt and covered herself in a dark cloak.

She paused to look back at her sister, and then snapped her fingers.

In an instant, Isabelle was wearing similar clothes. This seemingly harmless act immediately grated her nerves.

“You’re still doing exactly as you want all the time I see…” She growled and ripped off the cloak. “I never said I was going to go with you.”

Audrina was completely unfazed by the hostility. “You were in my love’s vision. She’s never wrong, so evidently you were always going to go.”

That didn’t help Isabelle feel any better.

“Does what I say ever mean anything to you? Or do you just wait for me to finish talking so that you can tell me what to do anyway?” she snapped.

Audrina paused in the middle of picking up her sister’s cloak.

She slowly rose back to her full height while dusting off the cloak before returning it to the shadows.

“…Maybe I have been a bit bossy over the years. It comes with the territory of being an older sister, you know…?”

She reached for Isabelle and took both of her hands in her own.

“But… I’m not going to be like that now. If you don’t want to go with me, then you need only say that. I will not twist your arm.”

Oddly enough, Isabelle found that this was the part of her sister she disliked the most.

Even when she wasn’t being forced into some kind of servitude, she still often found herself completely unable to refuse her favors when asked sincerely.

She looked around awkwardly for an escape and found herself staring at her clothes.

“…I’m not wearing this. We’re just regular siblings, not fucking twins.” Isabelle pulled off her cloak.

For some reason, her words made Audrina smile more than just a little bit.

Isabelle wished she’d just kept her mouth closed.

“Come on then. Let’s see if we can’t find you something a bit more individualized.”

A few minutes later, Audrina and Isabelle were walking out of the room together.

Audrina shut the door behind her while she finished up her conversation on the phone.

“-So I’ll be leaving home for a bit, my love. We’ll probably get back at around the same time.”

Isabelle rolled her eyes discreetly.

Audrina paused with a slight, warm smile on her face.

“Honey, that’s sweet, but you don’t need to cut your trip short for me. I’m a big girl, I don’t need you to watch my back all the time.”

If Isabelle had to listen to any more of this, she felt like she was going to be sick.

“Honey, that’s…” Audrina sighed in exasperation. “…Alright, fine. But just a few. And I want Ganny instead of Bayle.”

Isabelle made a gagging face behind her sister’s back and pretended to hang herself.

“Yes… I love you too. Take pictures of our babies for me, and do try not to let Courtney do anything too dangerous.” Audrina smiled into the phone.

But after a few seconds, her smile quickly faded. “…Why did you just go quiet? …Yes you did. Abaddon Tathamet, do you think that I don’t know you? What is Courtney doing right now? Send me a picture or-“

All Isabelle heard was a quick ‘gottagoloveyoubye’ before the phone clicked, and her sister let out an agitated growl.

Isabelle snickered. “Trouble in paradise?”

Audrina grumbled to herself as she slipped her phone into her pocket. “More like an overprotective husband and a few idiot in-laws. Only one of them is an actual problem.”

Isabelle wished she hadn’t said anything. Just listening to her babble about these things was almost enough to make her sick.

“You know, you’ve been making a really shitty face since earlier.” Audrina folded her arms. “Care to get something off your chest now before we leave?”

“…I have no idea what you’re talking about.” Isabelle said stubbornly. “Now what’s this thing you’ve agreed to take with us?”

Audrina shook her head. “Not a thing. An armed escort. And…”

She placed two of her fingers in her mouth and whistled.

Not two seconds later, Isabelle felt the entire hallway shaking.

Suddenly, a figure turned the corner and ran straight for Audrina on all fours.

“Aht. What have we told you about running in the halls?” She chastised lightly.

Gandora slid to a screeching halt in front of Audrina- her tongue still wagging happily. Audrina watched the big creature melt as she gave her the obligatory chin scratches.

“…I’m assuming this beast is not the full extent of our escort for this journey?” Isabelle asked.

Gandora glared at her as if she didn’t appreciate being called a beast.

“This sweet girl is going to get us from A-Z safely.” Audrina corrected. “But no, she’s not all. I’m afraid we’ll still need a few guards.”

Isabelle snorted. “Is that the only way to make your dear husband feel at ease?” She replied with a heavily sarcastic voice. “My, what an obedient little housewife you have become.”

Gandora covered her snout with her paw out of shock.

As a pet who enjoyed reality tv dramas, she could not believe that Isabelle had just said that!

Audrina’s eyes hardened. “Are you going to be such a complete and utter bitch for the entire duration of this excursion?”

“If the mood strikes me.” Isabelle flipped her hair behind her shoulder nonchalantly.

For a moment, Audrina and Isabelle were locked in an intense stare-down.

And then, out of nowhere, Audrina’s lips curled into a familiar smile as she hooked one of her sister’s arms in her own.

“Good. I was worried that this trip was going to be boring.”
