Chapter 2147 – A Lethal Assassination Attempt
The Sword of the Nine Hells shuttled through space. Every time it flashed, it crossed an unknowably vast distance.
Along the way, Su Yi keenly sensed the burning power of Yi Daoxuan’s Dao Imprint rapidly flowing away.
I wonder how Luo Qingdi and Luo Xuanji are doing… thought Su Yi.
The two of them had risked their lives to help him, and they’d been willing to fight to the death. Still, if they actually died saving him, it would deal Su Yi a heavy emotional blow.
I just hope they made it out alive. Or else…
Images of the Dipankara Buddha, Old Man Providence, Wenren Qin, and the others floated into his sea of consciousness.
The depths of his gaze silently blazed with imposing murderous intent. You won’t be able to withstand my fury!
Su Yi then took out his last Nine Profundities Heaven-Stealing Pill and gulped it down.
His two direct clashes with the old hunchback had injured him badly, and his body was on the verge of falling apart.
He had to recover. Who knew whether there’d be danger waiting for him on the road ahead? Thus, Su Yi set aside all other concerns and took his last Nine Profundities Heaven-Stealing Pill to treat his wounds and restore his cultivation base.
He wasn’t sure how much time passed, but eventually, an ancient, boundless aura assailed him right in the face, as if he’d entered an enormous, primeval world.
Su Yi looked over. It was indistinct, but the outline of a boundless world appeared deep in the distant void.
The God Domain!
Even though it was still immeasurably far away, Su Yi had Li Fuyou’s memories and experiences, and he instantly recognized it.
By now, Yi Daoxuan’s Dao Imprint was on the verge of running dry.
Thinking back to the attempts on his life he’d faced along the way, Su Yi couldn’t help but feel cautious and alert. So what if he’d become a god? There was still an enormous gap between him and his old enemies!
He’d have to keep a low profile when he went to the God Domain and raise his cultivation as soon as possible. He could resolve his past lives’ enmities after he’d gotten stronger!
He gradually drew closer and closer to the God Domain. To Su Yi, it looked like an enormous stretch of chaos filling the distant starry void.
The chaos was surrounded on all sides by mysterious Laws of the natural order that manifested a dazzling, mystical rain of light.
Within the chaos, countless worlds and planes both great and small came into view.
Of them, four drew the most attention, as they were utterly enormous. Each covered a vast territory, and each was connected to numerous lesser worlds and planes.
Those were the Four Great Divine Continents. Every last one of them was enormous beyond imagination!
The God Domain! I’ve finally returned… Su Yi murmured to himself.
Li Fuyou’s memories of his time exploring the God Domain flashed through Su Yi’s mind like fireworks.
But it was then that——
Boom!!
The nearby void split, and a flood of spacetime power swept outward like a raging tidal wave. It descended upon Su Yi from all sides.
Su Yi’s pupils constricted, but before he could respond, a heaven-shaking impact rang out. The Sword of the Nine Hells had taken a heavy blow!
As the one holding it, Su Yi suffered too. It was as if explosive and terrifying tribulation lightning had slammed into him, injuring him both inside and out, right down to his sea of consciousness and soul.
That power was just too terrifying, and its destructive aura invaded his body, as if intent on slicing him into countless tiny pieces.
I’ve been ambushed!!!
This thought had only just occurred to Su Yi when he heard a seemingly enraged sword hum, and everything went black. His body was swept uncontrollably away.
At that moment, Su Yi saw something. A figure standing in the darkness, attacking him in a frenzy.
He was tall and thin, with fair skin and eyes like portals to hell. His whole body was enveloped in countless talisman markings condensed out of dark powers of the natural orders.
Di E!! A terrifying existence who’d reached the threshold of the River of Destiny!
He’d appeared in the Immortal Realm’s Epoch Battlefield, too.
Then, when Su Yi became a god, he and other mysterious experts like him attacked together in a bid to steal Su Yi’s Dao Fruit!
According to the River Lord, he was one of the few people of the present age who’d touched the threshold of the River of Destiny!
But before Su Yi could give the matter any further thought, he felt a rending pain in his soul, and his awareness dimmed, then fled him completely.
Although he didn’t know it, the Sword of the Nine Hells carried him through time and space, cleaving through the Laws of the God Domain and flying off.
He also had no idea that Di E relentlessly pursued him and attacked repeatedly. In several cases, he came dangerously close to stopping the Sword of the Nine Hells.
But in the end, Su Yi and the Sword of the Nine Hells reached the territories of the God Domain, and Di E stopped his pursuit. He could advance no further.
His fair, smooth face was full of deep unwillingness as he threw back his head and roared in fury.
“Yi Daoxuan? No! It couldn’t possibly be him. But who was it? Who ruined my plans?”
“Just how many secrets are hidden in that Dao Sword?”
“Dammit!!!”
Di E was mad with fury, and his gaze was terrifying to behold. His imposing, maddened aura shook the surrounding void.
But even if he’d been angrier and less willing to accept this, he dared not attempt to force his way past the Laws enveloping the God Domain.
An unknown amount of time later.
Di E’s chest heaved violently, but in the end, he took a deep breath and sighed. His figure blurred, and his terrifying aura receded like waters at low tide.
Only then did he dare cross the Laws covering the God Domain. In the blink of an eye, he’d vanished completely.
Those who’d touched upon the River of Destiny were subject to the restrictions of the Eternal Laws, and thus, were refused entry by the Laws of the God Domain!
…..
Meanwhile, in the territories of the God Domain.
A Dao Sword shining with dark luster flashed through time and space as it shot toward the Southern Flame Divine Continent.
……
The Road of Celestial Guidance.
“Are you sure that Luo Xuanji woman is dead?” asked Gu Huaxian.
She, the old hunchback, Jiao Mu, and the others had returned and reconvened with the Dipankara Buddha and the other Master Gods.
The battle was over. Luo Xuanji was dead!
“I used my secret arts to burn her body to cinders, Fellow Daoist Yun Xiao destroyed her soul with his sword, and Fellow Daoist Severed Heavens used a taboo divine ability to wipe the scattered fragments of her blood, flesh, and soul from existence,” the Dipankara Buddha said calmly. “I truly cannot imagine how she could possibly have survived that.”
Gu Huaxian furrowed her brow.
She’d noticed that the Dipankara Buddha and his companions were badly injured, especially the Severed Heavens Demon Master. He was riddled with holes and covered in blood, wretched to the extreme.
There was no doubt about it. The three of them had paid a heavy price to defeat Luo Xuanji.
“Luo Xuanji fought her way out of a vanishing epoch civilization and found a path to survival amidst turbulent spacetime. She was far beyond your typical Nine-Tribulation Undying Realm Master God,” said Gu Huaxian. She shook her head and sighed. “Oh well. All of that’s in the past, and it no longer matters.”
As they conversed, Old Man Providence, Wenren Qin, Master God Yun He, and Master God Tian Huang rushed over from afar.
“He escaped!” said Old Man Providence. He had an unsightly look on his face.
Four Master Gods had joined forces, but they still failed to take Luo Qingdi down. On the contrary, all of them suffered badly at his hands!
“He escaped? Was he even stronger than Luo Xuanji?” Gu Huaxian frowned.
They didn’t recognize Luo Qingdi, and they naturally had no idea how powerful he was.
“He’s strong! In a one-on-one battle, none of us would have been a match for him,” said Wenren Qin, her expression overcast. “If we hadn’t come prepared with numerous hidden cards, the four of us wouldn’t even have been able to hold him back.”
Gu Huaxian, Jiao Mu, and the others frowned.
“However, we dealt him heavy damage, including all but irreparable Dao Wounds! Even if he recovers, he can forget about making any further progress in his cultivation in this lifetime!” Master God Tian Huang said through gnashed teeth.
His eyes blazed with hatred at the mention of Luo Qingdi, but they also revealed a hint of dread. Luo Qingdi… was just too strong!
“We meticulously prepared this ambush, but we only killed Luo Xuanji. Su Yi and that other person got away…” Gu Huaxian felt an indescribable emotion.
The others fell silent too.
Who among them wasn’t a proud ruler of the God Domain?
Yet today, they’d joined forces and still failed to take Su Yi down. Of course they were frustrated!
“Seems to me that the game has only just begun,” the Dipankara Buddha said out of nowhere. “That heretic has entered the God Domain. In doing so, he’s flung himself into the net. The moment he sticks out his head, we must seize him immediately!”
“That’s right! The God Domain is our territory. He really has effectively thrown himself into our net!” someone else whispered.
“The Dark Days of Legend will be upon us in just a few decades. We just need to capture Su Yi before they arrive.”
They conversed amongst themselves and discussed various countermeasures.
Still, there was one thing they all knew, a reality they couldn’t deny—the more time passed, the harder it would become to defeat Su Yi!
He grew far too quickly, and now, he’d overcome his taboo Divine Tribulation and become a god. If they didn’t kill him soon, he’d only grow even stronger. That was the most troublesome part of this!
“Relax. We aren’t the only ones who want him dead. There are countless old-timers who will in no way permit that heretic to live on. Just look at what happened to Yi Daoxuan and Li Fuyou!” Gu Huaxian said firmly.
……
Meanwhile, on the Road of Celestial Guidance.
“How terrifying! Was that a battle between Master Gods just now?”
“I’m sure of it!”
“Fortunately, we fled far away. Otherwise, the aftershock alone would have been enough to kill us without a doubt!”
…A crowd on board a massive warship had witnessed the battle from a distance, their hearts full of lingering terror.
There had been a massive distance between them, but the upheaval, collapsing time and space, and raging currents of destruction were more terrifying than the baleful starstorms of the Road of Celestial Guidance!
Tu Youfang, an elder of the Opening Origins Daoist Sect, guessed that this was the result of a battle between Master Gods.
Who wouldn’t have been shocked?
To the cultivators on board the warship, Tu Youfang, a Mid-Rank God, was already a prominent expert of the God Domain, someone they could only look up to.
As for Master Gods…
They were no different from legends!
Tu Youfang wondered to himself, I wonder if those three people we encountered were involved in that battle of Master Gods.
