“Indeed! This item was inadvertently discovered by one of our elders in the wilderness and secretly brought back to the sect.”

“Since then, we have been waiting for the ancient ruins to open, but alas…”

Yin Qiao, the white-haired elder, explained in detail to Jiang Chengxuan, then sighed deeply, lamenting the twists of fate. Treasures of the world should belong to the virtuous or, perhaps more accurately, the capable.

They initially thought this secret would be the opportunity for their sect to rise, but instead, it led to severe setbacks, likely crippling their sect for the foreseeable future. This was truly a case of “an innocent man gets into trouble because of his wealth.”

Jiang Chengxuan remained silent, acknowledging the truth of their words. Fortunately, the two quickly adjusted their mindset and began to explain the treasure map.

The so-called treasure map was essentially a partial map of the Water Immortal Sect’s ancient ruins, though incomplete, marking some of the key locations.

The original map was stored within their sect, not brought along. They had memorized the marked locations to explore discreetly, avoiding potential theft of the secret.

Their plan was to share the opportunity with another force if necessary. However, the other side’s relentless pursuit and the killing of their sect members forced them into a fight to the death, abandoning thoughts of collaboration. This twist of fate had ultimately placed the secret in Jiang Chengxuan’s hands.

“Daoist Jiang, time is of the essence. Let’s proceed.”

“Nearby is one of the major locations marked on the treasure map.”

After a brief discussion, Yin Qiao took the initiative. Jiang Chengxuan agreed, leading them onward.

The location was within a cavern, difficult to find. As they navigated, they avoided detection by other sect forces and soon arrived at the marked spot. Instead of the expected cave, they found a narrow valley.

“Strange, this should be the place,” Jin Dashan said, puzzled as he looked around, their senses revealing no hidden entrances or formations. Not wanting Jiang Chengxuan to misunderstand, they quickly explained.

“No rush, let’s search thoroughly,” Jiang Chengxuan reassured them. From his divination, he knew this journey would yield results. The marked location must hold some hidden mechanism.

Encouraged, Yin Qiao and Jin Dashan resumed their search in the valley. Despite their efforts, they found no entrance.

“Could the map be wrong?” they began to doubt.

“Something seems unusual here,” Jiang Chengxuan said, drawing their attention to a spot beneath a cliff where an ordinary stone was embedded in the rock. It emitted no energy, but Jiang Chengxuan’s intuition told him it was significant.

Examining it, Yin Qiao and Jin Dashan were baffled. They lacked the means to interact with the formation, if it was one at all.

Trusting his instincts, Jiang Chengxuan recalled the terrain they traversed, noting its resemblance to the rock’s shape. This suggested the stone corresponded to a specific spot in the valley.

To their astonishment, Jiang Chengxuan used his power to extract the stone, then found the corresponding spot in the valley. He flicked the stone into place, triggering a reaction.

An array emerged, accepting the stone and revealing it as a pure space gemstone.

Yin Qiao and Jin Dashan, impressed, praised Jiang Chengxuan, “Daoist Jiang, not only are you powerful, but your mind is also sharp. We are in awe.”

Jiang Chengxuan smiled modestly, not mentioning his divination, “Let’s proceed.”

The space gemstone activated, creating spatial ripples that condensed into a ring-shaped portal, exuding dense celestial energy, leading to another place.

“Let’s go!” Jin Dashan led the way, intending to scout ahead. Seeing no danger, Jiang Chengxuan and Yin Qiao followed.

After they entered, the valley returned to tranquility, the space gemstone resetting itself.

Upon entering the portal, Jiang Chengxuan felt a familiar sensation from earlier in the ruins. As the dazzling celestial light faded, his vision cleared.

They stood in a spacious corridor, designed with clean lines and ancient beauty.

“Is this the Water Immortal Sect’s legacy?” Jiang Chengxuan murmured, excited.

“Yes, these places usually aren’t dangerous, but there may be residual formations. Proceed with caution,” Jin Dashan advised, drawing from previous experiences.

Nodding, Jiang Chengxuan led the way. Along the corridor, they found occasional murals depicting wolf-like beasts, though they couldn’t identify them, not even Yin Qiao.

Reaching the corridor’s end, they found a vast hall with a grand palace exuding celestial light. As they approached, waves of energy surged from the palace, forming ripples that coalesced into a massive silver wolf.

This majestic beast, formed from the palace’s energies, stood as a guardian, blocking their path.
