Forgotten Legend of the Bloodied Flower
Chapter 2553 - 2555: Investigation“Really?” Long Ai Ning’s eyes brightened when she heard that.
“Yes.” Nan Si nodded.
“In that case, I have to prepare a good welcome gift for my brother.” Long Ai Ning smiled sincerely, but there was a coldness in her eyes.
To make her wait for so long, she has to prank her brother!
Hmph!
Nan Si could see that Long Ai Ning wanted to make things a bit difficult for her brother but said nothing and only nodded in agreement. Anyway, whatever Long Ai Ning wanted to do, he will listen to her.
Outside the carriage, Lou accidentally heard Long Ai Ning’s words laced in cold tone and paused for a moment.
He silently lit a candle for Long Xu in his heart before he continued to walk towards Chu Yue’s direction. He and Chu Yue were responsible for Long Qian Xing and Nan Hua’s safety on the surface.
Yes, it was on the surface.
Because both Lou and Chu Yue knew very well that their martial arts were far from comparable with Long Qian Xing and Nan Hua. If these two wanted to, they could defeat them easily in battles.
Even in terms of danger detection and so on, Nan Hua was far better than them.
But the atmosphere was light.
And as the season was getting closer to Spring, the other forces have started to make their move.
…
<Northern Border, General Yang’s side>
General Yang and Minister Yang had already informed General Gao about Emperor Yang Zhou’s order for him to build the road. The problem was that the distance was simply too far away.
This caused General Gao’s progress to be almost non existent.
At the very least, the progress was really slow and it would take a long time for the road they built to be connected.
Moreover, they also have to connect a few more cities that were located at the forefront.
This caused many of them to be very busy.
Minister Yang and General Yang were both reviewing the progress while paying attention to the situation at the north.
There was no attack from the northern tribe.
This was something that they had found out nearly two months ago and after they sent people to go to the north, there was still no progress whatsoever. There were some traces of the northern tribe, but none of them planned to attack.
If the scouts were too close, they would still get attacked.
But the northern tribe seemed to have gathered around.
“It’s strange to see them gather around,” General Yang muttered in a low voice as he looked at the information in front of him. The result of investigation in the past two months were not very good. The information that was passed back was very limited.
It was to the point that General Yang wondered if he didn’t send enough people.
But he couldn’t really send so many people to the north where it was really dangerous. He didn’t want to risk the lives of his people.
“It’s enough,” Minister Yang muttered in a low voice and he looked at General Yang. “They should be developing a new methods or weapons to catch us off guard.”
“How do you know that?”
“The northern tribe has always been nomad. The main reason was because of the resources in the places where they lived were far from enough for them to fill the supplies they needed,” Minister Yang started.
“They would need to find places with better resources for their animals, such as the goats, to survive. If they simply stayed in one place without regards of the resources, they would have long died in the northern area.”
“Moreover, the northern tribes are called northern tribes because they’re not united. If you have paid attention, there are at least three different tribes who had been attacking our border over the years and most of these tribes would attack in different direction. The year when they attack is also different, which gives us the impression that the northern tribe will always attack every single year.”
Minister Yang’s eyes narrowed slightly. “But in fact, these tribes might not have good relationship with each other. Of course, this is only a conjecture and it’s possible that they’re simply taking turns under a person’s order. We have limited knowledge of the northern tribe even after fighting against them for so many years.”
General Yang listened to his brother’s words, his heart felt cold.
Because Minister Yang’s words were true.
In the past, they have more knowledge about the northern tribe and usually fought in accordance to the knowledge they have. And from what they knew, this information was obtained from generation to generation through sending spies and scouts to the frontline.
As for how this first started, no one knew.
But whoever dared to propose this kind of method to obtain information must be really brave.
The main reason why everyone thought that the northern tribe was only one tribe was because of the record written about it. But this record was written more than one century ago, so the record was no longer accurate.
With so many years passing, how accurate can this record be?
Many things could happen in the passage of time.
During this period of time, it was highly impossible for them to remain the same. Of course, there was still the possibility that the structure remained the same, but how many people are there in the north?
None of them knew for sure.
It was definitely impossible for the northern tribe to ask everyone in the tribe to attack them. After all, there were also women and children who had to stay back and protect the tribes.
“We’re negligent…” General Yang felt ashamed when he thought about this. What he paid attention to were the habits of these northern tribes and the best method to deal with them. As for their number, they only have estimation based on how many people attacked them each year.
For other details…
He really didn’t know anything.
