Chapter 2644: “…”

Fang Sheng Lin couldn’t really find the two people who were watching him from the distance. But he knew that the sense of danger still existed after that explosion, so there should be someone who was watching over them in the distance.

That alone was more than enough to make Fang Sheng Lin more vigilant.

He knew better than anyone that having other people watching over him meant that his actions were not a secret.

“You did great, Sheng Lin,” Song Yun Xiang said solemnly.

He had guessed that Fang Sheng Lin should know what kind of weapon it is, but he purposely didn’t mention it because there were a lot of other people around them. When they were discussing about this matter, they had specifically warned him not to speak about any technology that was far beyond this era.

While Fang Sheng Lin didn’t quite understand the reason, he chose to listen to them.

Besides, Fang Sheng Lin himself didn’t know any of these technologies, so it was useless to mention them either.

“Hehe,” Fang Sheng Lin grinned and laughed lightly before he frowned. “One more thing, I don’t know the situation in the camp because I run away after I found that there might still be others watching… and uh…”

Fang Sheng Lin really felt dizzy and he frowned again.

Did he lose too much blood?

But these scratches shouldn’t make him lose that much blood, right?

“You rest first, Fang Sheng Lin. I have to check the situation.” Song Yun Xiang patted Fang Sheng Lin and then looked at General Ning. “Let’s head straight to the camp and take our comrade’s bodies before checking the place that Fang Sheng Lin mentioned. I have to trouble your adjutant to send Commander Fang back.”

“Ok.” General Ning nodded in agreement and glanced at the adjutant.

“General, how could Strategist Song go?” General Ning’s adjutant asked carefully. Because when they came here, they tied Song Yun Xiang on his back just to make sure he would not fall off the horse.

After all, Song Yun Xiang couldn’t really ride a horse with only his legs.

In the past wars, Song Yun Xiang even used carriages while other generals and soldiers were using horses or went on foot. This had already made many people speechless but they could still accept it.

Albeit only barely.

There were already a lot of complaints for Song Yun Xiang because of his special treatment. Those who saw him would wonder whether this man was here to participate in the war or for a holiday.

“He’ll ride behind me,” General Ning said calmly.

General Ning’s adjutant frowned and then glared in Song Yun Xiang’s direction.

Song Yun Xiang: “…”

He had the feeling that General Ning’s ability to pull hatred to him was extremely strong. From her brother and now her adjutant.

But he couldn’t do anything about it.

Anyway, with Fang Sheng Lin’s condition had been confirmed, Song Yun Xiang felt much better and longer worry so much.

“Bring Fang Sheng Lin to a doctor as soon as possible. If possible, I want a doctor who could check how internal organ is,” Song Yun Xiang added as he was being helped to ride on General Ning’s back.

“Yes.” General Ning’s adjutant nodded solemnly.

While he disliked Song Yun Xiang for taking advantage of their general, he would still follow the other party’s instruction carefully. No matter what, Song Yun Xiang was one of his superiors on the battlefield and General Ning’s adjutant knew that he had to listen to his words well.

Swish! Drap! Drap!

Fang Sheng Lin was brought back to be treated while General Ning and Song Yun Xiang, plus some of her soldiers, continued to the camp.

When they reached the camp, they could see the devastation there.

And there were many dead bodies on the ground.

“The number didn’t match up.” Song Yun Xiang sweep the scene and calculated quickly in his mind. “I’m afraid those who are alive are taken by the northern tribe.”

General Ning frowned when she heard this.

She knew very well that any war prisoners would never end well. So these scouts who were caught might never be able to return unless they tried to save them right away.

It’s really painful.

“I know.”

Song Yun Xiang saw General Ning’s look and knew that she couldn’t send anyone to save those scouts. He said nothing and then they continued their journey to the place where Fang Sheng Lin said where he was attacked.

Soon, the two of them found the place.

The bodies hadn’t been cleaned up but Song Yun Xiang keenly noticed that the cannonballs were all missing.

It should have been recovered by the northern tribe due to the lack of metals in their side.

As for how the knew it was cannonball?

Because the cannon that they left behind was very obvious in Song Yun Xiang’s eyes. It was now wrecked, though.

“What is this?” General Ning asked.

“It’s their weapon,” Song Yun Xiang replied. “But it’s broken and I’m not sure whether we can use it or not.”

“Oh.” General Ning nodded and then waved her hand. “Let’s bring it back. The metal should be good enough for your friend’s project.”

Song Yun Xiang arched his eyebrows and looked at General Ning’s back. He had the feeling that General Ning should have noticed something but she didn’t say anything to him. The corner of his lips curled up slightly.

“Yes!”

<Long Family Residence, Long Qian Xing’s side>

For Long Qian Xing, this period of time was really torturous. He kept on pacing in front of Nan Hua’s delivery room and couldn’t really hear anything from inside.

Outside, he knew that Long Xu and Nan Si were fighting in their respective areas.

None of these assassins managed to get close, though.

They were al stopped by these two people or the other guards who were protecting the Long Family Residence. But the chaos outside hadn’t stopped yet.
