The third reason for leaving is that she was the one who created the mutants that Bushwick used to wear down the lamp bearers. She accomplished this by using her Rank 2 divine ability to curse captive godclads with the curse of a weary mind.
To a mortal, the curse of a weary mind will make them sleepy. They will feel groggy for a while until they lose consciousness and never wake up again.
Unfortunately for godclads, when their minds are cursed to become weak and they become unconscious, there is something within them that is willing to take control of their body for them. This way, she can induce the mutation of a godclad.
She told Bushwick to hide her involvement in his schemes. It is clear that he didn’t tell her brother about her capabilities, but she can’t count on him to keep her actions a secret forever. In fact, she expects Bushwick to use it against her sometimes in the future.
If word of her involvement becomes known to the general populace of godclads, they will surely hunt her to death for her crime. It is because she has offended a lot of godclads with what she did.
Another particular force that she offended by turning godclads into mutants en masse are the lamp bearers. Once the lamp bearers come to town looking for revenge, they will kill her painfully if they find out about what she did and manage to nab her.
There is just too much danger in Ivory Town now. As a fate weaver with poor offensive, mediocre defensive, and nonexistent escaping capabilities, if she wants to keep her life, she has to leave the town immediately.
After making up her mind, she left the scene and disappeared.
The reality of the situation is that she is not the only one who was considering leaving Ivory Town. Many godclads became uneasy after they heard that the lamp bearers were killed and saw the Ivory family come out to kill the innocent family members of the lamp bearers.
It hasn’t happened in a long time, so many people don’t know what the town will become if the Ivory family gains complete control of it. But there have been written records of this kind of thing, and most of what was written painted a grim fate for the inhabitants of the town, both mortal and godclad alike.
According to history, nobles will begin eliminating everything that can threaten them in their territory. The first thing they will do is kill any godclad above rank 2.
Every godclad that is rank 3 and above won’t be spared. Then specific pathways like the pathway of killing, the pathway of knights, the pathway of slavery, and the pathway of the telepath will be purged.
No one particularly cares about the pathway of slavery and the pathway of the telepath. No one will miss those two pathways if they disappear, but the purge of every godclad in the other pathway will be felt.
The most important thing about this purging of pathways and rank 3 godclad is the lack of safety. It is only as bad as the lack of privacy and freedom. Everything in the town will be under the control of the nobles, and there will be no human rights.
These are the reasons why many people rebelled against the rule of the nobles. History is clear about this.
Time and time again it has been proven that nobles aren’t good rulers. Nobles always become tyrants. It is why the history of the Kent Kingdom is riddled with rebellions.
History is also clear that the god of justice, despite being the most successful rebel, almost failed many times. No one thinks that they are the god of justice, so they began considering a preemptive retreat.
No one thinks that Ivory will become a great place to live once the Ivory family gains complete control of it. They expect things to get so bad that even other noble families in the town also began to move out of the town.
Some churches decided to stay, but other forces, like the Vault of Gold, decided to leave because they are sure that they won’t be spared when Bushwick starts making the rounds.
Only special forces like the White Tower, who don’t care about anything not related to knowledge and are confident in their safety, decided to stay.
Special individuals like the Silver Mirror also decided to stay. Silver Mirror didn’t think that he could defeat Bushwick, but he was sure that he could. His confidence lay in the fact that the lamp bearers couldn’t get him for many years.
As for the rest, they began to leave the town quickly. So even before the lamp bearers returned for revenge, Ivory Town was already splintering. And before a war started with the Church of Justice, the town was already embroiled in unrest.
Legion was sealed in a basement somewhere practicing. But even though they didn’t go out to interact with the world, they got enough updates from the minds of their slaves for them to stay up to date with what was going on in the town.
From what they heard, they too began contemplating leaving Ivory Town. They thought about it for a long while before deciding to leave.
They decided to leave because they didn’t want to get involved with the upcoming war and because there wasn’t much to gain in Ivory Town for them anyway.
There was still energy water to gain if they stayed. They could always steal some from the Ivory family. Unfortunately, there is no rank 4 divine flesh available in the town for them to use to advance.
This lack of a path forward is the most important reason why they decided to leave. The revenge of the lamp bearers is a close second.
But before leaving, they decided to advance to rank 3 in all of their pathways first. They don’t need the power to leave, but it will increase their chances of successfully surviving the wilds if they leave as rank 3 godclads.
