GREED: ALL FOR WHAT?

Chapter 2246 - 2246: No Telepath.

As for the things he came here to do and the things he had done here that he forgot, they told him to forget about them. They said it was for his own good.

Meanwhile, in the room, the crown on the lady’s head became visible again. It was also glowing brightly in the dim room.

The lady took it off her head and placed it on the table. By the time she did this, the crown had stopped glowing and had returned to the state of being a white crystal crown.

The lady lifted a briefcase that was on the ground beside her chair and placed it on her lap. She opened the briefcase and slowly placed the crown into it.

The process was slow as she was being very careful with the crown. There was even a piece of fabric in the briefcase that she placed the crown on.

After doing all of these, she clasped the crown with restraints in the briefcase. The restraints would ensure that the crown doesn’t move around no matter the orientation of the briefcase.

Then she closed the briefcase and stood up. She left the room, closed it behind her, and walked towards the first room that Jack had entered when he got to the restaurant.

Sir Kriss was waiting in this room for her. Before he asked, she replied.

She said, “They didn’t touch his mind at all. It appears they didn’t even hypnotize him. No one questioned him about his origin and purpose beyond the ordinary, and no telepath appeared to speak to him.”

“The only people he met were the leaders of the gang and none of them are telepaths. In fact, there is no trace of a telepath anywhere in the gang.”

“Can you imagine that? We send a noble without a mind shield into the den of a supposed telepath and have found no trace of a telepath for up to four weeks now.”

She shook her head in disappointment and said, “This whole thing seems like a letdown for my effort. It looks like I’ve wasted my time for nothing. If I didn’t have inside information, I wouldn’t suspect that there was a telepath in contact with the Golden Hammer gang at all.”

She placed the briefcase on the table and took the seat opposite him. Then she continued with her report.

“I have inside information, and I suspect that there is a telepath behind the scenes, but I am not sure anymore. I suspect that you might be wrong.”

“As for Jack, he has abided by your rules and hasn’t told anyone about what he is doing. He is a little dissatisfied with what your family is doing to him, but he has no intentions of exposing your actions to others or sabotaging your plan.”

She said so much without being asked. That was only because he didn’t need to ask for her to know what he wanted to hear. After all, this wasn’t the first time they were doing this.

Sir Kriss finally spoke. He said, “I would be dissatisfied if I were him. First, the wife is hounding him in public and pressuring him everywhere to make the leaders of his gang subject themselves to invasive investigation procedures.”

“Then the husband secretly meets with him and wipes away his memory of the meeting, causing him great pain and distress. He has to live with a painful headache for days after each meeting and still has to deal with the troublesome wife every day.”

“These two are enough to make even a saint dissatisfied. But he won’t tell anyone and has to endure it because he is being paid and because the consequences of crossing me will be far more severe than the distress he is experiencing right now.”

Then he said, “As for the telepath, I am sure that there is one. There has to be a mental influence for why eight epic beings would suddenly appear in a third-rate gang and why those eight epic beings would be willing to work together in harmony even though their gang lacks funds.”

She gave another option. “Maybe their gang doesn’t lack funds. Maybe they are rich and are lying to Jack.”

Sir Kriss nodded in agreement and said, “It is possible. Maybe they are richer than they claim. But where did their wealth come from?”

“Surely it can’t be from the two gangs that they raided. Those two gangs had one epic being each. Even if they had enough wealth to support two epic beings, that will be enough wealth to take care of four epic beings, not eight.”

“So where did the wealth to take care of the other eight come from? And where did the wealth that they used to buy the rank 4 divine flesh that they advanced with come from?”

“Surely, the Golden Hammer gang wasn’t rich before. They could hardly support the advancement of one epic being, much less the rise of eight. Who gave them or lent them the money they used to advance, and for what purpose?”

The lady shook her head and said, “There is just too little information.”

Sir Kriss said, “You’re right about that. We know too little. That’s why we have to do this to know more. As for the existence of the telepath, I am certain that it is real.”

“If the telepath is real, there are many reasons why he or she didn’t reach out to Jack or try to manipulate his mind. The first reason is that the telepath is not interested in Jack. It is what I am most inclined to believe.”

“The second reason is that the telepath knows that Jack is bait. This is also possible and would explain why the telepath has refused to surface.”

“The third reason is that there was a telepath, but he or she has escaped in fear after killing my daughter Celine. If this is true, it will indicate that the telepath is smart and cautious. But it also begs the question of why he or she killed Celine in the first place.”
