“You shameless, smelly bastard,” Old Master Ding cursed at Ding Nuan Nuan. As much as he liked this girl in the past, he hated her just as much now. All the good things in his family went in her mouth and after eating so many good things, this girl turned out to be an outsider!

Damn, his luck!

Old Madam Ding puffed out clouds of smoke while sitting in the courtyard. She felt like the entire sky was falling on her head, after finding out Ding Nuan Nuan was not her granddaughter, she seemed to have lost her soul.

This was the child whom she had cared for from the day she was born, as for the mer sons of her eldest daughter, she had never even paid any attention to them nor had she given them a good look.

All her attention was placed on this child but now it turned out that all the hard work and money that she had used to nourish Ding Nuan Nuan went to raise another person’s child!

The more she thought about it the more furious Old Madam Ding became. She wanted to kill Ding Nuan Nuan but was stopped by Ding Nan who said to her that if she was to hurt the child, people would start talking about their family.

Not to mention, they would be hauled to the yamen for killing a mer and a child.

It was better to lower their heads and live their life quietly for a while. As for Gu Mo and his daughter, their matters could be dealt with slowly, anyway, she had already found out about this Madam Fan from the villagers.

Though that woman was good-looking, she was a live-in daughter-in-law as she had married into her husband’s family. She had no power or money.

There was no way she would take an illegitimate child under her wing and even if she were to agree, her husband who was a man would not agree.

Thus, neither Gu Mo nor Ding Nuan Nuan had anywhere to go.

Old Madam Ding didn’t refute her eldest daughter. After all, even if she reincarnated three times in this world— she wouldn’t have the guts to enter the yamen. It was simply impossible.

And why should she find trouble for herself for someone like Ding Nuan Nuan and Gu Mo? Her eldest daughter was right, there was no need to make a spectacle out of their family.

However, she still did not feel comfortable leaving Ding Nuan Nuan off so easily. Old Madam Ding, thus called an exorciser. Even if his girl couldn’t be sent away for now, they still needed to at least get rid of that dirty thing that was latched onto her.

What if she harmed someone else?

That was how Ding Nuan Nuan’s luck turned for the worse, the second the exorciser arrived at the Ding house, he started beating Ding Nuan Nuan with a peach wood sword. He also burned a talisman and made her drink its ashes.

When Ding Nuan Nuan refused, she was suppressed on the ground and the water filled with ashes was poured down her throat.

Ding Nuan Nuan screamed and ran around the courtyard trying to escape but she couldn’t even take three steps before being pressed down on the ground.

The doors of the Ding family were opened and everyone saw what was happening in the courtyard.

In the past, the neighbours would stop the Ding family when they beat their mer sons but this time around when it was Ding Nuan Nuan who was getting beaten up, none of them made a move.

How dare they?

They all feared that ghost that had possessed Ding Nuan Nuan, what if that thing latched onto them? They all were afraid of getting implicated. What was more they thought that it was better for Ding Nuan Nuan to be exorcised.

Lest she caused trouble for them.

In fact, a few neighbours rushed ahead and wiped the blood of a black dog on the face of Ding Nuan Nuan.

Ding Nuan Nuan was tossed and kicked around by everyone to the point where she could no longer stop herself from fighting back. She screamed and shouted that she was no longer possessed and that every one should let go of her.

“The doll is gone!”

“The doll is gone!”

Unfortunately, no one was willing to listen to a single word that she was saying to them.

In the end, Ding Nuan Nuan had no choice but to scratch and bite people. She threatened them to leave her alone, if they did not listen to her and she died then she would haunt them all!

Only then did everyone let go of her.

However, when they looked at her their gazes were clearly unfriendly as they all believed that Ding Nuan Nuan was still possessed by that ghost, if not how could a child say such terrifying words?

Ding Nuan Nuan did not care about anyone, she had been tossed around until she was hardly breathing. She had received such fatal injuries and now she was beaten like this, she was a child, how could she withstand this beating?

She escaped from the Ding family and went to hide in the abandoned house at the back of the Big River village. She couldn’t let them catch her!

On the other hand, Yu Dong was observing the greenhouse, though not a lot of things were damaged she noticed that a few strawberry plants seemed to have been uprooted.

Without asking anyone, she knew that it must be done by. Ding Nuan Nuan. That girl was so young but she was clearly scheming. She must have taken these plant saplings because she wanted to plant them in her house.

Yu Dong shook her head and noted the damage down, she was going to scold the patrolling guards. To think that they would lower their guard in front of a child! It was simply embarrassing.

“Dong Dong!”
