Yu Dong calmly took the letter that had fallen and yawned slightly. What a mess! She just fell asleep and these people started to cause trouble at once. She quickly skimmed through the letter and understood the crux of the situation. Some of the officials who were supporting Xien Xieren had actually sent their relatives to pretend to be servants while acting as spies.
No wonder they were not able to catch anything or anyone till now. These children were either the sons or daughters of concubines or some poor relatives. If they made a mess, then their families would be the ones who would suffer.
However, this matter had nothing to do with Yu Dong. She crumpled the letter and took out a device that could copy one’s handwriting before writing a completely different letter and catching the carrier pigeon.
Even though the little thing tried to get away from her, Yu Dong simply instilled her spiritual energy and tamed it. She then sent the fake letter along with the pigeon carrier before turning to walk away from the spot.
“Madam Yu?” Xien Zhenya was talking with the generals and planning the next siege when she heard the guards say that Yu Dong was there to see her. She looked at the woman who was dragging someone inside the tent and said to her, “How many times did I tell you that there is no need for you to ask for permission? If you want to see me, then you can enter my tent at will.”
Yu Dong glanced up at the smiling woman and simply said to her, “I know but I still need to follow the proper protocol or else I would be accused of treating her highness without care.”
Her words left the generals who were not happy with red in the face. They had indeed complained among themselves that Yu Dong simply didn’t care about the etiquette and treated Xien Zhenya as if she was her friend when she was her leader.
They never thought that Yu Dong would actually hear these things and even bring them up here!
“Is that so?” Xien Zhenya turned to look at the generals behind her and her smile was so chilling that it terrified many of them. However, Xien Zhenya was not as foolish as Xien Xieren. She did not scold the generals as she knew that it would cause a rift between them in the middle of the war.
However, she noted down this matter in her heart and would deal with it later on once she was done with this war.
“You don’t need to worry about such trivial matters,” said Xien Zhenya as she turned to look at Yu Dong. She then lowered her head and looked at the woman who was dragged inside the tent before questioning, “Who might this young lady be?”
Yu Dong didn’t reply; instead, she shoved Qin Qing in front of Xien Zhenya and then handed the woman the letter that she had confiscated when she caught the woman.
Once Xien Zhenya was finished reading the letter, her face turned cold. She raised her head and said to the guard, “Take this woman to the prison and make her confess all the names of the spies who are hiding in the base camp.”
Xien Zhenya was not worried about the woman holding back the names of the spies because she knew that there was no way this woman would be able to resist the torture.
“Yes!”
The guards rushed in and dragged Qin Qing away just as Xien Zhenya turned around and looked at Yu Dong with a smile on her lips, “Thank you for catching this spy on time, Madam Yu, or else I am afraid that everyone in the base camp would have been infected by those disgusting things.”
What a despicable scheme! They actually wanted to ruin the drinking water of their base camp with the eggs of larvae that were found in the moving corpses and kill them all in one go.
If Yu Dong had not caught this woman—
Xien Zhenya shook her head and sighed. She had to admit that her sister was really ruthless; for the sake of staying in power, she was willing to take so many lives.
“It’s nothing,” Yu Dong’s eyes flashed and she looked at the blueprint of the next city that they needed to attack. “It seems a bit more detailed than the last time.”
“That’s because the city lord of this city holds a special scroll. It is rumoured that his family once had a bunch of imperial embroiderers who knew how to create a string strong enough that a person could be hanged to death by a single strand of the silk created by these embroiderers,” explained Xien Zhenya.
Her lips were curled up in a mocking sneer as she stated, “My dear sister is trying to win the heart of the city lord and she can actually get a chance to deal with the countries next to ours.”
Though the city lord of this city hadn’t decided whom to support yet, the fact that she was refusing to hand over the embroidery techniques for so long was enough to show that the woman was actually waiting for a better offer to be placed in front of her.
Thus, Xien Zhenya dared not to place her trust in the city lord and wait for her response.
Yu Dong’s eyes flashed when she heard the words of Xien Zhenya. She thought of Fang Chi and Shen Li, who liked to embroider and suddenly she regained the motivation to attack the city.
She turned to look at Xien Zhenya, who understood her gaze and said to Yu Dong, “Other than the secret technique to create the Blue Lily, I have no interest in the embroidery techniques; you can keep them as long as you get your hands on it.”
“Your majesty!”
“How can you agree to such a thing?”
Xien Zhenya paused and turned to look at the person behind her and said to them coldly, “What’s wrong? Do you want to quit working as generals and start sewing clothes?”
The generals: “…”
