Harry Potter and the Secret Treasures

Chapter 1138: Sorcerers and Vampires

Facing Riddle, Mr. Borgin was so excited that he couldn’t speak, and his head was full of terrible thoughts.

In this case, the best way was to explain nothing and frankly admit that Riddle was Voldemort.

Voldemort’s power was still there, and Mr. Borgin would not say it out.

Although he was not a Death Eater, he was not on the side of the Ministry of Magic either.

On the contrary, he would provide them with the help they needed.

If Delphi was not here, it would be a good idea to do so, but now Riddle’s identity must be kept secret.

Although Evan couldn’t see why he had to do this, it was probably Riddle’s insistence, and Evan didn’t want to complicate matters.

In this case, the Memory Charm seemed like a good choice.

Before he could take action, he heard Delphi shouting, “Obliviate!”

A red light flashed, and Mr. Borgin fainted.

“He just called out Riddle’s name; he must have figured out my identity,” she explained. “My identity is very sensitive. Well, how to put it, my father was a Dark wizard, he used to be a Death Eater. You know what Death Eaters are, don’t you?”

Evan and Riddle exchanged a glance and slowly nodded.

“I read about them in a book; they are said to be followers of the Dark Lord,” Riddle said.

“Yes, the Dark Lord!” Delphi lowered her wand and said vaguely, “He was defeated fifteen years ago. Death Eaters were arrested by the Ministry of Magic, and any wizards related to them were implicated. I… I don’t want others to know about this, especially given the current situation. We still have to go to the Ministry to steal the Time-Turner…”

“Don’t worry, we’ll keep it a secret,” Riddle said.

“I’m quite interested in that battle,” said Evan, noticing Delphi’s tense gaze on him. “I’ve never heard anyone talk about the details of that battle. Voldemort—I mean, the Dark Lord—was such a powerful wizard. How did he fail?”

“Of course, you wouldn’t know. It was a despicable plot!” Delphi walked over, took the Invisibility Cloak from Mr. Borgin’s hand, and continued, “The final battle took place at Hogwarts. The Dark Lord’s army had already occupied the place. He had unimaginable power, and even the so-called greatest wizard in the world, Dumbledore, was powerless. He had already won the war; the Dark Lord was about to conquer everything. But in the end, he made a mistake. He dueled Harry Potter…”

“Harry Potter?”

“Yeah, that’s the famous Harry Potter, the Quidditch star, the best Seeker, the guy who once led England to win the World Cup,” said Delphi disdainfully. “I heard he’s now an official in the Department of Magical Games and Sports of the Ministry of Magic.”

Well, this life trajectory sounded a lot like Ludo Bagman’s, except for the part about defeating Voldemort.

Evan originally thought Harry would become an Auror. He’d never expected that after the war, Harry would use his Quidditch talent to become an internationally renowned Seeker, leading the England team to win the World Cup.

This sounded incredible, but not entirely impossible.

“That’s ridiculous. How did a Quidditch star defeat the Dark Lord?” Riddle asked with a frown.

“No one knows. Their duel took place in the Chamber of Secrets beneath Hogwarts. No one witnessed the specifics of that battle. The final news was that the Dark Lord was defeated. Indeed, it’s absurd and definitely a conspiracy,” Delphi said. “No one could defeat the Dark Lord.”

“And what happened after that?”

“After that, the war ended, and Muggle-born wizards gradually gained the upper hand. The Wizarding World has developed into what it is today,” said Delphi. “Don’t they teach this history in Hogwarts’ History of Magic class now?”

“I just finished learning about medieval witch burnings, the Goblin Wars, and the Giant Wars,” Evan said.

This was true. In the normal timeline, people were very reluctant to talk about the history of Grindelwald and Voldemort’s first rise. Evan couldn’t even imagine Professor Binns talking about this period.

“Those in power want people to forget that history because their victory wasn’t honorable,” Delphi said, trying on the Invisibility Cloak before putting it away. “Let’s go. Let’s leave before he wakes up. He won’t remember the three of us…”

They walked out of the shop. Knockturn Alley’s ground was newly paved with black bricks, and both sides were still lined with Dark magic shops.

Borgin and Burkes was no longer the largest shop. Evan saw at least three stores that were much larger.

There were some hooded, sneaky wizards coming in and out, and a pile of bones and other eerie things were displayed in the window of one of them.

The window of the largest Dark magic shop next to it was full of weird dolls, corpses of unknown creatures, and abstract statues that looked like demons. None of them were magic props that Evan recognized.

Further ahead, the windows of another shop were filled with cages full of scary creatures, such as huge black spiders and pythons crawling all over the place, and unknown insects that made people’s scalps numb at a glance.

In the dark doorway not far away, there was a picture of a pale vampire with a hideous face and fangs exposed. The shop sold blood, coffins, amulets, and other vampire-themed items.

The overall layout of Knockturn Alley had not changed much, but the goods in the shop windows were getting weirder and weirder.

Dark magic shops like Borgin and Burkes, which Evan was familiar with, still dominated but were fewer than before.

“Compared with Diagon Alley, Knockturn Alley has basically changed little in the past ten years. It’s difficult for the Ministry of Magic to infiltrate, and there’s not so much Muggle technology,” Delphi said, wrinkling her nose. “You may not know if you haven’t been here before. The only change now is that there are many more shops selling witchcraft from Africa and vampire magic supplies. I hate those sorcerers and vampires.”

“Sorcerers and vampires?”

“I heard that because of the Muggle wars, many people have flocked to this country from the Middle East and Africa. The number of Sorcerers is increasing. Their magic is different from ours, and their concepts are completely different,” Delphi pointed to the largest Dark magic shop and said, “Just like those dolls, I still don’t understand how they cast spells with those things.

“As for those vampires, because they fought against Voldemort in the last war, their status was legalized and recognized after the war. More and more vampires are gathering here, and the Ministry of Magic doesn’t care at all…”
