Alexander listened to Lady Parthia’s succinct proposal on the matter of grain intently, agreeing with most of it.
‘Indeed, it has to be like that. There is little hope of rescuing the flooded area by itself. Hopefully, Tibias has enough grain or I will have to beg Pasha Farzah once more…. *Tsk*… what a pain.’
For obvious political reasons, Alexander did not want to show his empty palm to the opportunistic old man right now. Hence the slight irritation.
Thankfully, he also felt such an event was unlikely.
Tibias, especially southern Tibias was quite fertile, with the Diannu river delta even producing some patches of land that were among the most productive lands in the whole world.
So they definitely produced enough surplus to come to Alexander’s aid.
“Hmmm…my lady is right. I will have a messenger sent to both as soon as possible. It should not take long for them to come if they use ships,” He thus gave a satisfied smile, then happily thanking her, “Haha, it is great to have you here… your advice has made a lot of things so much easier.”
And Alexander truly felt this way- among Alexander’s trusted retainers, Lady Parthia was undoubtedly the most qualified here. In fact, most of the others barely had any experience in administration, if any at all.
“No… it is my pleasure my lord,” Lady Parthia only humbly nodded her head, then sincerely chimed, “All these natural disasters are a test from the heavens. As mortals, we can only endure and ask for forgiveness. So I hope my lord will also learn to exercise patience.”
Or in less winded words… ‘Stay put and wait.’
Sensing Alexander’s restlessness, this was Lady Parthia’s advice.
And indeed, looking outside the window, Alexander understood there was little he could do right now, even if he wanted to. Against such an overwhelming adversary, the best he could do was hole himself inside his sturdy house and at best make preparations for how to deal with the clean of the aftermath.
‘There is no way to even send food to the people.. Forget deploying the army. The men will be just blown away by the winds like straws….if not die of dysentery from lack of fresh water!’
As Alexander thought about it, he also quickly found his prior idea to deploy the second legion to the outskirts was not really possible.
The flood water was too high for the men to effectively march through, and even if they could, half the army would probably have trench foot by the end of just the first day.
So where would they get the energy to haul the additional carts?
Not to mention, all the nearby wells and rivers were also grossly contaminated from the surrounding refuse. So how were they going to secure their drinking water?
In the campaign, you could still carry food and even firewood with you on carts and wagons.
But drinking water…. forget it. It was just too much and too heavy
Even navies, with their much greater capacities and the easiest of logistics, still found drinking water to be usually the most limiting factor in any conflict and there were even many campaigns that abruptly ended because one side had suddenly run out of the life giving sustenance.
And due to the same reason, Alexander’s worries about his border dissipated, as whatever problems his army was facing, any invading force would too, and then some.
In fact, Alexander thought he would actually half welcome such a move because then the enemy would be fighting in a foreign land with few opportunities to forage.
He could cut down their numbers without even lifting a finger- the rain and flood would take care of that.
“Hmmmm…” Thus by the end, he once again gave a pleased nod to Lady Parthia.
….
While the lady, sensing the talks had concluded suddenly became aware of her exposed state, thus quickly turned around to try and drape one of the nearby blankets around her.
However in doing so, she also inadvertently exposed her full butt to the man, who just had his schedules all cleared up.
Thus seeing such a delicious, full meal all of a sudden presented right in front of him…
“Hahaha, then how about some fun now, my lady!” Alexander’s eyes flashed red as he could not resist.
He had been looking at those two fluffy half moons for quite some time now, and now that he finally had the perfect chance, how could he not greedily grab the mature rump from behind, producing a crafty grin, and giving the soft, meaty flesh a good old squeeze.
“Nooo!” But feeling the groping hands, the lady instantly yelped in objection, moving her hips away and then turning to give Alexander a very big glare, “You already had your fun last night. No more!”
The mature lady seemed adamant about drawing the line here and seemed ready to fight the man.
She was really not in the mood.
“….” However despite the hard objection, the man’s countenance from the other side hardly changed. Alexander still kept that cool, calm look, a light smile hanging by his lips.
Because he already expected this.
In fact, he would have been a bit disappointed if the mature lady just let him do this. The fun with Lady Parthia lay in the challenge of taming her.
“Don’t be like that Parthia. Last night was last night,” Hence Alexander affectionately smirked with a firm, musky voice, then curving his eyes amusedly, “Not to mention you fell asleep midway. I hardly got to play with your new toys, *chime*, *chime*, *chime*.”
As Alexander said this, he boldly moved his hands towards the lady’s large breasts, before flicking the silver bells attached to her pink tips. It rang with a simple note, clearly audible through the silence of the early dawn.
“Mmmmm!” And the slight pain on the still raw piercing and more than that, the dirty sound it made, caused the curvy lady to instinctively let out a swallowed moan.
The seemingly innocuous action of the bells swinging around and hitting her saucer shaped areolas while ringing felt too lewd for her.
“No! Stop! Not here!” Yet the determined lady managed to once again stop the man at the last moment, gritting her teeth and slightly panting,
“Camelia should be awake by now. She can be looking for me. I cannot be caught with you here. Absolutely not!”
There was a steely undertone to her voice as she said this, a firmness that was unlike anything before.
Lady Parthia made it very clear that this was an absolutely untouchable line. Alexander could not push her on this like he had done before.
And Alexander also knew this… neither did he want to do this anyway.
Exposing their relationship to the daughter in such a way would be bad on so many different social, political, and even religious levels.
How can a son of god do such a thing with another married woman who was also his priestess? It would look morally very bad.
However, that also did mean he was going to just let Lady Parthia slip through his fingers. He felt he was very close to taming this proud as a peacock woman and thus determined to give that one last push.
So grabbing the hastily ‘trying to leave’ lady by the arm, he imperiously pulled her towards him and then officiously announced,
“*Snort*, where do you think you are Parthia? You are in my home. Do you think your daughter will know anything I do not want her to hear? Whatever I do here, will never leak. All my guards and maids are completely trustworthy… they will never say peep without my permission.”
“How do you think I dare to screw Nanazin here and not fear Ptolomy’s anger? Because I am that confident!”
“…..” Lady Parthia still had great doubts swimming all around her eyes even as she heard this. And they only reduced upon hearing the last bit.
Because the shrewd lady certainly did not buy Alexander’s earlier claims about the reliability of his staff.
‘Anyone who has a mouth will leak secret,’
As someone part of the royal court, Lady Parthia had learned this adage the hard way long, long ago, and multiple times at that. There were many instances when a maid, a guard or a nobleman she had trusted had leaked some very sensitive information, leading her to suffer a social faux pas or even deal with an even greater problem.
So the only people she truly trusted to keep their mouths shut were the dead.
But now that Alexander had followed up his claim with an example… she felt a lot more assured. The matter about Lady Nanazin was certainly a lot more sensitive than hers- the defeated queen of a nation who was brought here almost as a prize.
It was much easier to believe Alexander taking her rather than the official wife of the king he severed.
However that still did not mean the lady had accepted Alexander’s offer to tango.
Rather, turning her eyes now from angry and fiery to pleading and coaxing, she placed her hands on the man’s muscular chest and cooed,
“Please! Not today! Not now! I promise I will come again tonight. But please… Let me go now.”
