At noon, in the Heavenly Craft Camp on the Edge Star.

On a flat mountainside on the eastern side of the camp, a group of people gathered to chat and gossip.

“The Thirteen Stars keep winning victories; Lu Shenjun’s divine power is boundless!”

“It’s mainly because of those Black Armor warriors. They’re incredibly strong, capable of self-replenishing mana, fearless in the face of death, and possess the strengths of both Daoist soldiers and demon puppets. How could they not win?”

“Those warrior Daoist soldiers were once living human beings. Now their souls are obliterated, and their bodies can’t even rest in peace. It’s truly cruel.”

“In war, people die. Without them, it might be us Daoist soldiers lying dead. We should thank Lu Shenjun.”

“That’s true. If anyone’s to blame, it should be that Green Worm Demon Monarch. She’s the one who caused those souls to dissipate. Lu Shenjun is just making use of waste.”

Chen Mu in the crowd squinted slightly, gazing at the two who had just spoken.

If they knew that it was Lu Yue himself who spread the Green Worm Gu Poison, he wondered if they would still revere Lu Shenjun so much.

“Ignorance is bliss,” Chen Mu sighed to himself.

The continuous victories in the Heavenly Star battles were all well and good. But if the war turned sour, or if too many Black Armor warriors were lost, would Lu Yue secretly start refining front-line Daoist soldiers into more Black Armor warriors?

“Once a bottom line is broken, it can be broken twice.”

“That Lu Shenjun doesn’t seem like the benevolent type,” Chen Mu silently shook his head.

Fortunately, the Edge Star was far from the front lines, so there wasn’t much to fear.

Moreover, with the Delusion Seven Emotions Flame and Heavenly Demon Armor as his foundation, Chen Mu wasn’t afraid of Lu Shenjun’s plague poison. If things took a turn for the worse, he could handle it.

As he pondered, a black dot appeared on the distant horizon. Within a few breaths, the black dot rapidly expanded, and a massive white cloud came into view before Chen Mu’s eyes.

Countless white ropes dangled from within the cloud, intertwining and weaving into an enormous net.

A vast number of demon and exotic beast corpses were held within the net, being dragged along by the white cloud in the sky as it swiftly approached the Heavenly Palace Camp.

“I didn’t expect that the skin and bones of the Eagle-beaked White Jade Snake would be used here.” Chen Mu looked up, watching the white cloud and the net in the distant sky with interest.

The white cloud was the Five Clouds Cloth, a special magic artifact of the Thousand Mechanisms Sect. It could float, bear weight, and was often used to transport large objects.

The white jade-colored net below, on the other hand, was woven using the ropes made from the Eagle-beaked White Jade Snake demon puppets.

“Adjustable in size and extremely tough by nature, with a bit of refinement it has infinite uses.”

“As expected of the Thousand Mechanisms Sect, truly masters in the crafting of all kinds of artifacts.”

Chen Mu thought of the Cloud Bat Flying Boat and Bai Gui Ship, both special demon puppets crafted from exotic beasts, similar in essence to the white jade ropes in the sky.

While he marveled, the Five Clouds Cloth dragged the white jade net into the air above the Heavenly Palace Camp.

The white jade ropes squirmed and retracted back into the cloud layer.

Like a fishing boat dumping its catch of fish from the net, accompanied by a strong stench, the demon and exotic beast corpses tumbled down with a loud crash, plummeting into a large pit below.

Several Daoist soldiers, fully clad in protective armor, leapt into the pit, quickly sorting and boxing the remains, then handing them over to the Demon Dispel Department members waiting by the pit.

Chen Mu joined the queue, picked up a box, and carried it to the Demon Dispel Department’s camp.

This was his task for the day.

Over the past ten days, similar routines had repeated nearly every day. Chen Mu had already become well-practiced at it.

By evening.

Chen Mu returned to the westernmost housing area of the camp.

Standing before the snail-shell-shaped house, Chen Mu infused mana into the Yellow Jade Identity Token at his waist. A flash of emerald green light danced around the edges of the circular black-and-green door panel.

Soon after, the tightly shut door slowly opened.

Chen Mu stepped inside and closed the door behind him. Immediately, he slapped a Dust-Avoiding Talisman onto himself.

The powdery dust, carrying a faint stench, instantly flew off his gray short robes.

He summoned the Five Ghosts Black Cloud, letting it sweep over his entire body to cleanse him thoroughly.

The odors accumulated from working in the Demon Dispel Department were instantly cleared.

But Chen Mu still didn’t feel entirely clean. He brought his hands up to his nose, sniffing several times. Only after confirming there were no lingering odors did he let out a long sigh of relief and settle into a nearby rocking chair by the door.

“Back when I was farming Yellow Bud Rice in Yunzhou, I dealt with the earth all day, often coming into contact with stinky fertilizers.”

“Now I can’t even tolerate a slight stench—how spoilt I’ve become.” Chen Mu shook his head, chuckling.

Flipping his hand, he pulled out a palm-sized White Jade Gourd and habitually took a sip.

The cool liquid slid from his mouth to his stomach, soon spreading warmth throughout his body and sending a refreshing sensation straight to his head.

The gourd contained a mixture of Replenishing Origin Soup and Nourishing Spirit Wine. Over the past ten days, Chen Mu had relied on these two to quickly recover his depleted vital energy.

By now, his body had mostly recovered.

The Yin Spirit Divine Fetus cultivated in his Heavenly Demon Body had also regained its radiant and full luster under the nourishment of copious cold white mist.

“Finally, I can resume rebuilding my Daoist Foundation.” Chen Mu eagerly started inspecting his Jade Seed internally.

At this moment, the Jade Seed was covered in dark golden patterns, ancient and enigmatic.

Chen Mu skillfully reversed the River Chariot Divine Acupoint, first refining mana into primordial qi, then recalling the Jade Cicada Dao Foundation Map in his mind.

The primordial qi was guided by an invisible force, autonomously drilling into the inner walls of the Jade Seed.

A fine, hair-like root emerged from the outer wall of the Jade Seed, beginning to grow outward.

“The first three layers are for replacing the foundational roots of the Jade Seed. Subsequent cultivation involves expanding outward from this foundation to form a complete Daoist Foundation.”

With the feedback from the Gray Wall, Chen Mu gradually gained understanding.

With the Dao Foundation Map in hand and the Gray Wall providing supplementary feedback, as long as there was sufficient primordial qi, the Daoist Foundation could be successfully forged step by step.

What he needed most right now was a stable environment.

And the current Edge Star…

Was actually not too bad.

“The tasks in the Demon Dispel Department are demanding, but with the Triple Yin Slaying Demon Technique’s assistance, dispelling demons is a breeze. That leaves plenty of free time each day.”

“The Edge Star is far from the Heavenly Gate Thirteen Stars and won’t be affected by the front-line battles. It’s perfectly stable.”

“Though it can’t compare to the Heavenly Pass Star, it’s still a decent place for cultivation,” Chen Mu thought cheerfully and quickly immersed himself in reshaping the Jade Seed.

Heavenly Gate Star, the main star.

Atop a cliff on a towering peak, Lu Yue sat cross-legged on the edge of the precipice, his purple and black Daoist Robe fluttering as he gazed at the rolling sea of clouds in the distance, his face expressionless.

“Master, the Plague Immortal Flag has been successfully placed in the Primordial Energy Well.” A figure clad in black and red armor, Han Ying, suddenly appeared behind Lu Yue.

“Including this one, the Plague Immortal Arrays on the Heavenly Gate Thirteen Stars have all been completed.”

“Good.” Lu Yue nodded slightly, “Rest for a day. Then take people to the Heaven Pillar Eleven Stars to continue setting up the arrays.”

“Master, should we inform Elder Lan about this?” Han Ying hesitated and asked.

“The plague poison can kill demons, but it can also kill Daoist soldiers. Lan Xiuzhu, with his hypocritical compassion, would never agree to deploying the plague poison.” Lu Yue’s eyes flickered as he glanced at his disciple with a cold snort.

“The Heavenly Gate, Heaven Pillar, and over thirty other stars have long been occupied by demons. If he can’t reclaim them, then I will.”

“What about Jiao Mu Star Lord?” Han Ying’s face showed a tinge of uncertainty.

“If it didn’t approve, how could you have placed the Plague Immortal Flag in the Primordial Energy Well?” Lu Yue’s expression remained cold.

“The Star Lord is a Star Spirit, unconcerned with universal ideas of good and evil. It only cares whether the stars remain under its control.”

“Even if every living being on a star perished, it wouldn’t bat an eye. Go without worry.”

“Yes!” Han Ying immediately clasped his hands, bowed, and disappeared from the mountain peak.

Lu Yue, however, remained seated motionless. He flipped his hand, producing a dull gray Inheriting Heaven Gourd.

As he gazed at the faint silver patterns on the gourd’s surface, a fervent expression flashed momentarily across his face.

“It’s close.”

“Once I use the Plague Immortal Technique to refine the myriad demon essences, I am certain I will achieve my Second Primordial Spirit.”

“At that point, I can open an external Daoist Grotto and ascend even further!”
