I Can See Your Combat Power
Chapter 827: Chapter One Hundred and Twenty-One: Finding the WayFar at Chongming Peak, diligently deducing the Four Imperial Spirit Seals, Tang Luo had no idea that a debate concerning his supernatural power had just concluded in the inner hall of the council chamber on Bifang Mountain.
Although Bu Lin had once mentioned that possessing the “Yin-Yang Grinding” was a sin, Tang Luo had dismissed his crude words as a mere pretext and hadn’t given it much thought.
After all, he suffered from an information asymmetry with the holy lands’ major factions, completely unaware of the heinous crimes committed by the previous cultivator that possessed the Yin-Yang Grinding. Had he known earlier, he would never have allowed the Yin-Yang Grinding to reemerge at this point in time.
Yet, what in the world is foreknown? In the end, he had still displayed the Yin-Yang Grinding, shattering the cloud dragon; in the end, he had officially caught the attention of a certain Grandmaster on Qilin Mountain.
But Tang Luo, fully engrossed in his deductions, was completely in the dark about these matters as he admired the paper rolls he had filled with his meticulous notes, his face brimming with praise and self-satisfaction.
“I am, indeed, a genius!”
After a day and night of deduction, Tang Luo had found a rugged path for the once dead-end Four Imperial Spirit Seals. While it differed from all established practices that lead to enlightenment, it represented the most likely chance for Chen Menglu to prolong his life and continue deducing the seals.
One could only say that Chen Menglu was lucky, perhaps the heavens took pity on his solitary lineage and quietly opened a window for him.
Having rolled up the scrolls and tucked them into his chest, Tang Luo pushed the door open and headed toward Xumi Mountain. However, just a few steps out, he felt a strong sense of being watched and suddenly turned to look around, but found nothing, and the feeling quickly faded, leaving him deeply furrowed with concern.
“It seems that the brawl at the Divine Fire Hall must have left a really bad impression on Martial Saint Mountain. To utilize such an intensive surveillance on me is truly wasteful.”Without finding the watcher, Tang Luo thought to himself that he certainly wouldn’t consider his own perceptions mistaken. His six senses, honed to the extreme, were extremely sensitive to such scrutiny. Yet upon reflection, if there was someone capable of arranging this kind of surveillance on Martial Saint Mountain, it could only be Martial Saint Mountain itself, and given his previous actions at the Divine Fire Hall, receiving such treatment was not surprising.
Having realized this, he no longer dwelt on it. Tang Luo turned around, and the feeling of being watched reappeared, but he did not react with alarm this time. Instead, he allowed the discomforting sense of scrutiny to follow him all the way to the bamboo forest in front of Xumi Mountain.
It wasn’t until he entered the bamboo forest that the feeling of being watched completely vanished—not because the bamboo obstructed the view, but because the watcher did not dare to recklessly enter Chen Menglu’s territory.
“Is Master Chen at home? Tang Luo from Xiling has a matter to discuss and seeks an audience!”
His voice, resonating like a bell, burst forth, its waves rolling toward Xumi Mountain and echoing through the valley.
After a few breaths, a path opened up in the bamboo forest, and the refined Master Chen appeared as if from an Illusionary Dream.
Bowing, Tang Luo said with a light chuckle, “After Master’s visit yesterday, I’ve been troubled by the past events of the Four Imperial Spirit Realms, restless and uneasy. I thought about what I could do for you, and after a day’s deduction, I’ve made some minor breakthroughs. I’d like to discuss them with Master Chen if you have the time?”
“Please, young friend,” Master Chen beckoned, and with a gesture, the scenery around them suddenly rippled like water, shifting instantaneously to the central hub of the Divine Array at the Divine Country, with its vast open space and the warm sun hanging high overhead, as if they’d entered another world.
“The Illusionary Dream Space is truly splendid,”
Tang Luo looked at the scene that was both real and illusory, praised it, and felt even more confident in his deductions. He took out a rolled-up scroll from his bosom, wondering where to place it, only to see a nanmu writing desk rise up in front of him out of thin air. The barren scene changed again—walls with carved beams and painted rafters, and exquisitely elegant furniture. A study room enveloped the two of them out of nowhere, with a brilliant pearl above them radiating light.
He placed the scroll on the writing desk and pushed it gently in the direction of Chen Menglu. Tang Luo then took a seat on the chair that appeared out of nowhere, bending his knees slightly. After feeling the firm support against his back and bottom, he praised, “Although these items are formed from Spiritual Power, they are as real as any. The control of Spiritual Power granted by the Four Imperial Spirit Seals, combined with the wonders of the Illusionary Dream Space, is unparalleled in the world!”
“My young friend is too kind with his praise,” Chen Menglu said, whose entire attention was now captured by the scroll, his emotions rising and falling in a way that was uncharacteristic for a master standing at the pinnacle of the Human Race.
That mixture of longing and fear was vividly displayed, as if the scroll in front of him was a Pandora’s Box. The longing stemmed from the light that appeared before him; the fear was that this light was merely a reflection from another mountain, ultimately leading to an empty joy.
Yet with the thin scroll so close at hand, he dared not reach out to open it and could only stare blankly.
Seeing Chen Menglu’s state, Tang Luo knew that the Grandmaster would need more time to prepare himself mentally. Not wanting to rush him, yet unwilling to waste time waiting idly,
he summoned a set of paper and ink from his Void Stomach and began to work on decrypting and deducing the secret techniques on the table, indifferent to Chen Menglu’s solemnity.
With only a day and a night’s worth of deductions, he could only find a general direction for the path ahead. There were too many uncertainties to verify, too many details to fill in. Whether it would succeed depended on Chen Menglu himself. What Tang Luo did was find a sliver of space in an impasse and tell Chen Menglu that starting to chisel there might lead to an exit. Although it was less difficult than breaking through a mountain wall, the amount of work was not insignificant. Whether it would succeed still depended on Chen Menglu himself.
But no matter what, this was considered repaying Chen Menglu’s favor. Tang Luo could finally concentrate on another set of deductions without distractions.
Inside the small study constructed by the Illusion Dream Divine Array, one master stared blankly at the scroll, while a young prodigy bent over, working on his deductions. Both were undisturbed by the other, each absorbed in their own essence, in perfect harmony.
After an indeterminate amount of time passed, Chen Menglu snapped out of his dazed state. It seemed he had made up his mind as he solemnly moved the scroll in front of him and carefully opened it.
When he saw the bold, enlarged headings on the paper, he felt a wave of dizziness.
“To rebuild the Four Imperial Spirit Realms, to revive the Four Imperial Spirit Seals.”
“Using domains as boundaries, and spiritual veins as foundations; with the Four Spirits as souls; with sacred altars as spirits; uniting with the Tao through the body!”
“Visualizing the four elemental lords’ totems to complete the Four Imperial Spirit Seals soul casting section.”
“Starting with the Four Imperial Sacred Altars and ending with the Four Imperial Kingdoms, Spiritual Energy circulates endlessly, with the practitioner as the root, and Spiritual Energy inexhaustible.”
To control the Spirit without controlling the heart, to cultivate Energy without cultivating the soul, was a mistake. Why was there no further path for the Four Imperial Spirit Seals? Because the limit for humans was that of a master; after the physical body becomes suffused with spirit, there is no further path. Insisting on a flawed martial concept, wanting to break through an insurmountable wall within the brief span of life, is futile. Tang Luo’s day of deductions, even with the wildest of ideas, could ultimately only lead to this conclusion.
