The assault of two Divine Dragon Shadows was thwarted, and without the slightest hesitation, two other Mi Clan Martial Ancestors activated the Xuanji Jade to teleport away. Mi Hu felt the disappearance of the two men’s auras, suppressed the shock to his soul, tore through the wall beside him and darted in, hoping to shake off Xiao Jinlin by using the complex terrain within the city.
A green light streaked through the night, startling the city of Longchang. Mi Hu intended to make a commotion and naturally didn’t hold back. The destruction that a top-notch Martial Ancestor could cause when sneaking into a city was indeed astonishing.
The dwellings and walls crumbled like paper mache before the green light. The residents living at the heart of Longchang City were either wealthy or noble, but their guardians couldn’t interfere in time. They could only send out sharp warnings, the noise reverberated in the quiet night and alerted the masters of Longchang City.
In just an instant, there were dozens of fierce lights bursting through roof tiles and shooting skyward from the east of the city—all powerful figures from the Fierce Realm of Longchang. Although they usually had their differences, they united remarkably well in the face of this unprovoked provocation. As the upper class and those with vested interests, they wouldn’t tolerate it. Maintaining order and dignity within the city was essential to keep their benefits stable.
When they spotted the green light, the powerhouses of Longchang City swarmed over. This situation made Mi Hu worry-free rather than concerned. If he had to choose between a famous Grandmaster and a group of Fierce Realm warriors weaker than himself, there wasn’t really a tough choice to make.
...Not only did the angrily charging warriors of Longchang notice the erratic green light, but they naturally also saw Xiao Jinlin pursuing it.
Pure wood-based Spiritual Power, an Elder they had never seen before; upon seeing the source of Longchang City’s disturbance, the Fierce Realm warriors came to a simple conclusion: two ignorant outsiders were fighting fiercely in Longchang. One was beaten and fled in a disgraceful panic, taking a haphazard path that startled the guards into sounding the alarm.
They had seen too many people who thought they could dominate the world just because they were from the Fierce Realm. Disinterested in delving into backgrounds, the group of warriors spontaneously split into two teams; one surrounded the unfamiliar old man in the sky, while the other blockaded the fleeing green light on the ground.
In a way, Mi Hu’s goal was indeed achieved. Although he had drawn the attention of Longchang’s warriors, some of them also stepped forward to stop Xiao Jinlin. If he could just distract them for a moment, he could reactivate the Qingmu Battle Body, start the Xuanji Jade, and escape.
The moment Xiao Jinlin discovered Anxiang, the objective of the mission shifted from a sneak attack on Longxi to a game of escaping with their lives.Xiao Jinlin had been hovering above the green light the whole time, and although he had many opportunities to attack Mi Hu, he never took action. That was because his purpose in intercepting Mi Hu in the alley wasn’t to kill; otherwise, he wouldn’t have made his presence known so brazenly.
But the three from the Mi Clan had a strong intent to kill, and they were alarmed when they suddenly saw their target. Guilty and preoccupied with nothing but escape, they caused Xiao Jinlin to never find an opportunity to speak from the start to the end.
Now faced with this group of encircling Longchang warriors, he knew it was no longer possible to keep a low profile. He simply abandoned his initial intent, allowing his powerful Spiritual Power to erupt fiercely, transforming into streaks of seven-colored light that vanished from the spot.
With the appearance of the Grandmaster’s unique Spiritual Escape, the warriors of Longchang who had planned to surround him were shocked, freezing in midair and exchanging glances. Just as they were about to speak, a thunderous boom echoed.
Looking back, they saw a purple dragon shadow formed of lightning descending from the sky, striking the fleeing green light. The lightning and the green light collided thunderously; the Thunder Dragon dissipated, and each arc of electricity was not weaker than a Yellow Rank Spirit Art. The green light, too, was dispersed, and the pure wood-based Spiritual Power crystallized everything around it.
The descent of the Thunder Dragon was a Spirit Art Xiao Jinlin mastered after becoming a Grandmaster. It gathered the yin and yang energies from the clouds, wove them into lightning, and used the power of the dragon to guide it. If it struck amidst clouds and rain, its might would increase even more. In addition to its element of surprise, the paralyzing nature of lightning made this Spirit Art particularly suitable as an opening or connecting move.
At this moment, Mi Hu had not been severely injured by the Thunder Dragon Descent, but he was paralyzed by the thunder contained within, albeit just for an instant, it was still enough time for Xiao Jinlin to take action again.
But the anticipated combo attack did not come; instead, a whisper reached his ear, “Please, Clan Chief Hu, let’s talk outside the city walls.”
Before Mi Hu could react, the five-colored Divine Dragon Shadow clamped onto his torso and flew toward the outskirts of the city.
The group watching from mid-air in Longchang’s Fierce Realm simply watched as Mi Hu was taken away, with not one of them attempting to intercept, their faces glum as they looked in the direction from which the dragon shadow had departed.
The flight speed of the Divine Dragon Shadow was astonishingly fast, and it soon brought Mi Hu to a small forest by the Han River. The dragon shadow dissipated, and Mi Hu flipped onto his feet, facing Xiao Jinlin who was standing with his hands behind his back.
Brushing off the dust that had gathered on him while passing through the roof tiles, Mi Hu stood up straight, his head held high with pride like that of a chieftain, and mocked, “So, a spirit-embodied flesh body technique capable of accommodating mixed Spiritual Power is the price of betraying an ally? Grandmaster Xiao, your promise is cheap indeed!”
“Xiao shall not betray an ally. Take this as a reason; it shows that the Mi Clan did not suffer an undeserved loss.”
The reason Mi Hu dared to mock a master renowned throughout Longzhou was that he had already disregarded life and death, but a single casual remark from Xiao Jinlin left him pale and trembling, “Does this mean that even before the Mi Clan, the Xiao Family had already formed an alliance with the Tang Clan?”
Though it was phrased as a question, the answer was clear when looking into Xiao Jinlin’s smiling tiger eyes.
“Hah, so it was a trap set by the Tang Clan all along. Our clan chief thought that by pulling in Clan Chief Xiao, he could succeed in one fell swoop,” Mi Hu said dejectedly: “So that’s how it is.”
“So, does Clan Chief Hu still seek revenge?”
“The enmity of annihilation is irreconcilable! One day, the descendants of the Mi Clan will accomplish this,” Mi Hu coldly stated. “The world is vast, the journey is long, and the Tang Clan can’t cover every contingency in every instance. We have time.”
Xiao Jinlin nodded, not angered in the least by Mi Hu’s words, and calmly stated, “In that case, I can give a response to the Tang Clan chief.”
“Hahaha, I never would’ve expected that the strongest man in Xiling, the renowned Fire-Stealing Grandmaster throughout Longzhou, would willingly follow the orders of a devious trickster. This truly widens my horizons!” Mi Hu laughed wildly. “I wonder what rewards you will get from Tang Zhi afterwards. Could it be that he will bestow a lady from the Xiao family to you as a concubine, to become kin?”
“During the battle at South Ridge, the Mi Clan and the chiefs of the seven noble families perished at the Mi family burial ground. After the battle, the Tang Clan chief had all the fallen Mi Clan warriors interred within the Mi family burial ground, granting them the dignity of warriors.”
