Spirit Mountain.

Jizhen returned with a long face, ignoring the respectfully saluting monks.

He went straight to the Buddhist treasury, sweeping away half its contents with a flick of his sleeve, among which were many Shariputra relics left by monks who had passed away in meditation.

Buddhism, being marginalized by the Xuanmen Orthodoxy, wasn’t as wealthy as the Severing Heaven Sect, yet the Shariputra relics formed from cultivation techniques could be used as heritage Spiritual Objects.

Junior monks with extraordinary talents could achieve great progress in mana by receiving the legacy of the Shariputra relics!

“Amitabha Buddha!”

Chanting the Buddha’s name, Jizhen wore a sorrowful expression, “This poor monk has no choice, for the prosperity of Buddhism, I must suffer our ancestors temporarily!”

After speaking, he returned to his cave and announced he would enter a closed-door retreat unto death.

Jizhen opened his kasaya and placed Qing Lian on the ground, laughing as he said, “From now on, you are my disciple. What dharma name shall I give you…”

Qing Lian wanted to argue, but as his senses were sealed, he could only show his frustration by turning purple.

An Ancient Great God reincarnated, before he could enjoy freedom, was first refined in a Pill Furnace for a hundred years, then forcibly converted by Buddhism, filled with endless hatred in his heart.

“Below the ‘Ji’ generation comes ‘Zhao’; your original form as Qing Lian transformed, it’s fitting to call you ‘Zhao Guang’!”

Seeing the look of defiance in Qing Lian’s eyes, Jizhen laughed and said, “Seeing such an expression from you, my disciple, clearly you do not know the Buddhist divine skills of conversion, so let me demonstrate.”

He took out a Shariputra relic, pinched a spell, and released a rich Buddhist light.

The Buddhist light enveloped Qing Lian, penetrating inside and out. The echo of Zen chanting faintly rang and reflected on his soul.

Qing Lian, awakening memories from a past life, was aware of Buddhist conversion techniques, his eyes flashing with scornful laughter, allowing the Buddhist light and scriptures to invade without resistance.

As the Buddhist light from the Shariputra relics exhausted, Jizhen saw that Qing Lian remained cold and detached, not annoyed but rather admiring.

“One Divinity Transformation Shariputra relic is enough to convert an ordinary Nascent Soul, my disciple truly deserves to be Innate in status. Don’t worry, your master here still has plenty of Shariputra relics!”

From the sleeve, a few more Shariputra relics flew out, along with Spiritual Medicine and Spiritual Objects, arranged into a Formation and Prohibition according to the exquisite laws of mystery.

With the boost from the Spiritual Objects, the power of conversion of the Buddhist light suddenly surged.

Qing Lian’s eyes tightly shut, allowed the Buddhist light and chants to pass through. With his realm and status, even the conversion by an Arhat’s Shariputra relic could only slightly stir his mind. ŗà₦ốᛒЁș

Instead, he took the opportunity to fuse the Buddhist and spiritual light into his body, continuously circulating his Cultivation Technique to increase his mana.

In the blink of an eye, ten years passed.

Initially in the Nascent Soul completion stage, ready to break through to Divinity Transformation, Qing Lian directly triggered the Heavenly Tribulation. But all the thunderbolts were blocked outside of Spirit Mountain.

The demon of the heart easily overcome, divine light fell from the sky, and the Nascent Soul evolved into the Primordial Spirit.

“My disciple has such talent that you achieved Divinity Transformation so easily!”

Jizhen looked at Qing Lian, who now appeared slightly more at ease, assuming his conversion technique had succeeded and said with a smile, “As your master, I’ll help you further, perhaps you can directly attain Arhat status.”

Saying so, he scattered dozens of Shariputra relics and piled up Spiritual Medicine and Spiritual Objects into a small mountain around Qing Lian.

“Om!”

A Buddha’s chant resonated in the cave, Jizhen manifested a sixteen-foot Golden Body, and immeasurable Buddhist light descended.

The Shariputra relics and Spiritual Objects instantly transformed into pure Buddhist light and Spiritual Energy, becoming so concentrated they almost solidified, and under the pressure of divine power, unable to escape, they surged into Qing Lian’s body.

Such a crude method of cultivation could not compare with Bai Suixin’s finesse, but luckily, Qing Lian, having already broken through to Divinity Transformation, could still bear it.

With the immeasurable Buddhist light shining down, hundreds of monks recited scriptures beside him.

The originally eased expression of Qing Lian seemed to be touched by the Buddhist light and scriptures, showing a hint of devoutness.

“Amitabha Buddha!”

Jizhen’s face blossomed with joy. When he forcibly took Qing Lian as his disciple, he heard the message from Sun Changsheng, claiming that this person was destined to become an immortal, bound to cause havoc in the Heavenly Court.

A True God, equivalent to the returning-to-void stage, could already vaguely sense the will of heaven.

With a little divination, Jizhen knew that Sun Changsheng was not lying. At first, he was extremely regretful, but now he had a different idea.

The will of heaven being clear, Jizhen did not dare defy it, lest immortal and Demon Saint join forces to kill him!

However, as long as he did not contradict the will of heaven, turning Qing Lian into a disciple of Buddhism and not hindering the commotion in Heavenly Court in the future, wouldn’t it be the best of both worlds?

“Amitabha Buddha!”

With this thought, Jizhen felt his previous frustration dissipate in an instant, his initiative greatly strengthened. To ensure the conversion succeeded, he went to the treasury and took another batch of Shariputra relics.

“For the prosperity of Buddhism, let’s suffer our ancestors a bit more!”

As seasons came and went, time flowed on.

A hundred years passed in a flash, and Jizhen repeatedly ‘suffered the ancestors’, depleting the Spirit Mountain Treasury of its Shariputra relics.

Qing Lian, originally untamable, became full of devoutness, and even after the restrictions were lifted, remained sitting cross-legged on the spot, body radiating dazzling Buddhist light.

Jizhen’s expression was full of compassion: “My disciple, how do you feel?”

“Amitabha Buddha!”

Qing Lian chanted the Buddha’s name: “The Buddhist Law is boundless. It was I who was attached to form. From now on, there is no more Qing Lian, only the monk Zhao Guang remains in this world!”

“Good, good.”

Jizhen nodded slightly, his use of so many ancestors’ relics was worth it, as even an immortal had been converted, let alone a mere Divinity Transformation cultivator and an Innate figure were merely about talent.

“My disciple, all forms are illusionary, all things are like dreams, bubbles, shadows. What is your understanding?”

Qing Lian pondered for a moment, then replied, “The Buddha is the Buddha, the Dao is the Buddha, all laws and all things in the world are transformed by Buddhist Law!”

“Very good!”

Jizhen’s smile became even warmer, and he continued to ask several more Zen koans from the Buddhist scriptures to test whether Qing Lian had truly converted to Buddhism.

Qing Lian solved each one, with both the commentary of Buddhist predecessors and his personal insights.

“With such a gift for the Buddhist Law, you are indeed meant to be a disciple of Buddhism!”

Jizhen no longer had any regrets. Even if he had exhausted the Spirit Mountain Treasury, as long as he secured an Arhat, there would be a chance for Buddhism to take control of the Heavenly Court in the future.
