Mending the heavens.

For ordinary cultivators, there was no impact whatsoever.

Instead, with the cease of the loss of the primal source, the dissipation of the spiritual energy of heaven and earth slowed down, and there won’t be a complete demise of magic in the future.

It didn’t affect True Gods much either; they couldn’t break through anyway. The only regret was the loss of the opportunity to become the lackeys of the Divine Realm.

“It’s just that it ties a great karma with all the future Immortals,”

Zhou Yi shrugged nonchalantly. As long as one is alive, one will gain karma. Even secluding oneself in a cave would not avoid the repercussions of spell duels or meteorites from outer space.

“After cultivating for tens of thousands of years, am I supposed to be running from the prodigies of the era?”

Battling through spells was out of the question. The lesson from Di Shi Tian was etched in his memory; there was no sense in fighting a battle of ego with an opponent you could outlast through evasion.

Zhou Yi never understood the value of face, losing face was better than losing life.

While reflecting,

the purple aura manifested at the site of the heavenly repair, and three divine lights descended in succession, condensing into three branches that fell into Zhou Yi’s hands.

“Supreme treasures of heaven and earth!”

Zhou Yi’s face showed delight. These three branches, if refined into magical artifacts, would undoubtedly become the strongest in this realm.

The other treasures were merely manifestations of the primal source, indistinct from the mountains, plants, air, and spiritual energy to the heavens and earth. These branches, however, were a part of the heavens and earth themselves.

After pondering for a moment, he opened his mouth to release spiritual fire to refine the branches, but the fire extinguished upon contact.

He also tried the Water Refinement Technique, but it dissipated upon touching the branches.

After trying more than a dozen methods of artifact refining, the branches remained unchanged, any spell or technique upon them dissolved into mana.

“What’s this? Looks good but isn’t functional!”

Zhou Yi pondered for a moment, his fingers calculating and deducing the uses of the branches, and indeed, he saw the clearly defined workings of fate.

“One for the Spirit Ginseng child… Alright, after drawing this pie for ten thousand years, Heaven has helped me to realize it; truly, where there’s a will, there’s a way!”

“One for hosting the split soul… This object, transformed from the primal source of heaven and earth, can merge into barriers weaker than this realm and ultimately pass through with the split soul.”

“After the death of the split soul, the heavens and earth can take it back anytime!”

Zhou Yi sneered. Heaven was impatient to absorb external primal sources, always urging him.

“The third one is for refining a protective artifact, ensuring that I stand undefeated in the duels within this realm, without fear of being killed by prodigies!”

“A grand Heavenly Master, unrivaled in a realm, and yet, Heaven, you underestimate me too much?”

Zhou Yi grumbled but honestly swallowed the third branch, which would need a long time to be nurtured and refined.

The Spirit Ginseng child received the transmission and streaked across the sky to the mountaintop, excitedly saying.

“Immortal, has the Jianmu tree split?”

Zhou Yi handed over the branch and said, “The Jianmu is the Heavenly Pillar; this is a branch of the primal source of heaven and earth. Once you refine it, you can transform to innate status.”

The Spirit Ginseng child swallowed the branch of Jianmu in haste, tears brimming as it said, “Some people told me you were deceiving me, saying the Jianmu is straight and connects to the sky; it doesn’t have branches.”

“I didn’t believe those words, I waited and waited, and finally, the wait is over!”

“Cough cough cough! As a grand Heavenly Master, honest and trustworthy with an impeccable reputation, how could I deceive a child?”

Zhou Yi’s fingers calculated and he immediately knew who was speaking ill of him. It was neither framing nor trying to sow discord, merely a spat with the Spirit Ginseng child during a casual conversation.

One argued that it was recorded in ancient texts, the other that the Immortal would not lie.

“Humph! Daring to speak ill of me behind my back, since you’re so bored, I’m dispatching you all to the suibu (yearly assembly) to patrol the continents!”

Zhou Yi consoled the Spirit Ginseng child and turned his attention to the remaining branch.

“Let’s try bearing Divine Sense.”

A strand of consciousness separated from within him, settled into the branch, and he felt an unprecedented clarity.

The thought, nurtured by the primal source of heaven and earth, grew visibly until it became a split soul, reaching the limits of a thought’s potential.

“Heaven really thinks of everything!”

Zhou Yi combined the Reincarnation Sutra, the Distraction Curse, and the Door to the Divine Realm into one, forming a new Magic Divine Ability, still named after reincarnation: the Reincarnation Curse.

The Reincarnation Curse could divide a thread of the divine soul, refine it into a split soul, and undergo reincarnation.

The reborn split soul, constrained by the Distraction Curse, was always within Zhou Yi’s sensing range. He could possess or destroy it with a single thought, covering the loophole of the uncontrollable Reincarnation Sutra.

Once the reincarnated body reached a certain level, it could open the Door to the Divine Realm, or the Immortal Realm, also referred to as the pathway to Ascension.

Once the pathway is pierced, it allows for ascension to this realm and incidentally plunders the primal source of the lower realm.

After the ascension of the split soul, the pathway will not close, allowing cultivators from the lower realm to continue using it for ascension.

“I’m not trying to plunder the primal source of the world; I am sincerely making an effort to open the pathway to Ascension, as seeing the creatures of the lower realm unable to achieve immortality, living and dying in such pain, is too much to bear,”

“This is indeed a great merit!”

Zhou Yi harbored no qualms about plundering the world’s primal source, as divination had shown him.

Excessive loss of the world’s primal source would hardly affect the living beings; it merely meant no longer being able to cultivate, which is to say, continuing on solely as mortals, passing down from generation to generation until the world collapses.

Perhaps, for mortals, it’s actually a blessing!

As Zhou Yi pondered, his fingers formed a spell to refine the split soul, and streaks of spiritual light descended to forge restraints and formations.

After the split soul was refined, the well-crafted Door to Ascension was infused into the branch.

The restraining formations and arrays used for the Door to Ascension had completely transformed into Immortal Dao inscriptions. Moreover, with the cheating-like boost from Heaven, Zhou Yi found himself constantly in a state of enlightenment.

After spending a thousand years, he finally figured out how to locate two realms with the Door to Ascension.
