Chapter 103: Present
Reylin carved his own path.
That was always the case, but even Reylin made mistakes.
The crucial mistake was that he unconsciously paid more attention to the ascended. They did unimaginable feats and were praised by residents, to say nothing of Reylin seeing one in person.
After he'd received the quest, Reylin believed that it was his path.
"My own flames are enough," Reylin chuckled while looking at the cleaned battleground.
His flames were unquenchable.
They quickly boiled down to the topic and did their job. Whether it would be to calm him down or erase his problems, Reylin's fire didn't disappoint.
Simple and effective.
Reylin's impression of flames was as such.
Still, Reylin's interest in other kinds of flames also grew bigger.
Be it a holy flame or Callan's devouring flames, Reylin found them exciting, and he would certainly play around with them.
"A few existences noticed me... Right?" Reylin sneered and stepped down from the necromancer's death spot.
The drop was already in his inventory, so Reylin focused on the more important stuff.
Indeed, Emilia was more important than those items.
She wasn't just an NPC he would click a few prepared quotes with. Should this game be really like that, Reylin would have never been that much interested in it.
"Reylin!" Even more emotionally than a player, Emilia called him.
Reylin extended his hand and seized her waist, "Three legendary skills weren't enough to calm you down?" He looked at her from the top.
Emilia's eyes rose, and she bit her lips, "I was worried nonetheless. If my eyes don't lie to me, you have been trapped by the necromancer. Fortunately, you are a freak of nature! Otherwise, I would have been emotionally devastated right now!"
"Thanks for worrying so much about me, my priestess," Reylin whispered, then put her closer to his chest, "Listen how fine I am."
Emilia didn't say anything more and closed her eyes while lying on him.
Reylin shifted his eyes to Callan and other ghosts, "Well, good job all."
All ghosts nodded to him.
They all returned to the mansion, where Reylin spent a casual time with Emilia in the bed. It was nothing but just lying and thinking about the future.
It was also a good moment to think about the battle against the necromancer.
Emilia had killed a few ghosts, and she did a lot. All she needed was praise from Reylin, and the priestess was content with imagination training.
Reylin also threw his mind back to the battle, to be more precise, to the dark matter cage.
[Crown's Mana - Your Fire Heart produces your own mana. It is separate mana from your normal mana, and it is hoarded in the second heart.]
That was one, if not the biggest, a step toward his ambition.
Reylin possessed two hearts, and those kept producing mana for him. He currently had just one hundred of Crown's Mana, but mana consumption differed in this system.
All in all, Reylin obtained much more mana and strength.
"We will complete Emilia's quest, then yours," Reylin glanced at Estras, then closed his eyes.
He was exhausted and ready for sleep.
Estras didn't reply, his thoughts unknown.
-
The priestess' quest took a giant leap during the battle against the necromancer.
She was close to its completion, and it would be just a short matter of time. After two days, Emilia was ready to leave the dungeon phase 1 and take proper sleep and a bath in her house.
She took a liking to her gun, and it seemed like it had replaced her staff already...
She shifted her beautiful brown jewels toward Reylin and smiled, "It's your turn now. Let's get rid of those ghosts and have a date outside."
Emilia was now more or less like other priestesses.
She was in love.
However, her love was greatly different from others. That was a man who would see the ascended more than once, and he indeed would thwart plans for more than just them!
Reylin just faintly smiled at her, and they went around the dungeon silently.
He was less talkative, and Emilia pointed it out when they were alone, "You are oddly quiet lately... I think you've shown more contempt for Estras than attention to me."
"You have to wait and see. I am preparing a present for you, actually," Reylin reassured her, and he did it in his unique way, which was simply making a few circles on her big ass.
Emilia looked at him weirdly but didn't comment on that.
Instead, "Don't be so natural with it, or you will fondle my ass in public! That would be embarrassing!"
"Yeah, my bad," Reylin slapped her ass instead.
"..."
At last, Reylin completed his quest as well.
[You have completed the Burial Ground Dungeon Phase 1]
[You have received Estras' Heroic Swordsmanship Passive Skill.]
Ding!
[Epic Skill!]
[Hero's Showtime Passive Skill has been learned.]
[You have received the Burial Ground Dungeon Phase 2 token(Lv. 120)]
"Well, we are ready to go," Reylin turned his eyes to Emilia.
She understood that it was time to part, so she went to speak with her ghost for the last time.
Reylin did the same, but he spoke with Callan instead.
The horse had been following them all the time, and he only became friends with Reylin. Their talk was natural, and it seemed like they were good friends already.
Reylin said while fanning his face with warm air, "You've become stronger in just these two days. The Arena will continue, and new players will swarm this dungeon for new skills and experiences... And some undead loot."
"Indeed. I will surely survive through any ordeal," Callan replied with a strong will.
"I am not that close with residents, and no one sane would come to this place from your world. Anyway, I will make sure to preserve your flame," Reylin added.
Other than that, Callan had shared his race traditions and flames secrets. Of course, those secrets were more than anyone else would ever get, but they were still not threatening to his race in the second layer.
Anyway, Callan believed that Reylin wouldn't go against his race, even if a few idiots from his race would bar his path in the future.
It was because Callan knew how important the first impression was.
And it was quite a good time for both of them.
They were like fire buddies.
Finally, Reylin and Emilia could leave the dungeon.
"Farewell," Reylin said toward Callan, then turned toward Estras.
Estras had been silent all this time, but desperation suddenly invaded him. His ghost face contorted, and he extended his hand toward Reylin.
His hand went through Reylin's heart, and he howled, "This is farewell, but for you! How dare you treat me worse than a dog!"
"I would treat dogs better than you, actually. You know... I would give them much more attention," Reylin chuckled while his HP began dropping down.
[A hero's ghost, Estras Law, is invading your body, system, and mind!]
[You might lose control over your body if you leave it as it is...]
"Player!" Estras clenched his hand and accelerated the inevitable.
However, Reylin was all smiles, and he called out to Emilia, "This is your present. Kill me and enable yourself to have a greater future. You will join those inquisitors while being able to level up. I look toward nothing, but a good future, my priestess."
Emilia stared at Reylin and his ghost, trying to take over his body.
Her lips curved up, "With pleasure!"
"Ah, what a woman," Reylin whispered before Emilia's bullet killed him.
Emilia was indeed an emotional rollercoaster!
She was overly worried about him two days ago, and now, Emilia casually pressed the trigger to kill him.
Reylin was far from disappointed.
