I bought a present at Alice’s general store, and now that the preparations for Aoi-chan’s birthday celebration are complete, I head back home. The plan is to hold the celebration after dinner in my room.

And so, as a preliminary check, Hina-chan came straight to my room upon our return home.

[Should we do some decorations…… guess not huh?]

[If we go that far, it might be a bit too much. I did buy some candles, so I think that should be enough.]

[That’s true. We decided to keep it simple with just a cake and a present, so that should be plenty.]

[Well, I can adjust the room’s lighting quite a bit though……]

Since we’ve decided to keep this a simple celebration, we won’t be doing any decorations. However, it seems like my room’s lighting can be adjusted in various ways, so I might be able to create a nice atmosphere.

To test it out, I knocked on the wall in a specific rhythm, causing a section of the wall to slide open, revealing the magic tool that controls the lighting.

[……Kaito-senpai? Why did your wall just slide open to reveal some weird device? Is this actually some sort of secret base?]

[I mean, I’d also like to know exactly how many hidden functions this room has, but whenever I ask Alice, she just brushes me off…… This is one of the few she actually told me about. It’s my room, yet there are so many things I don’t even know about it.]

[I- I see……?]

Hina-chan looks bewildered, but to be honest, I don’t know much about the hidden functions of my room either. At the very least, it seems like there’s a feature that connects to some kind of hidden space. Even though it’s my own room, it’s full of mysteries.

Alice did tell me about some features, like sliding the wall to reveal storage shelves and certain magic tools. Some of them can be activated by knocking in a specific rhythm or repeatedly turning my magic power on and off while touching the wall.

[Well, knowing Alice, I don’t think she would install anything I’d truly dislike…… You wouldn’t, right?]

[Look into these ultra-beautiful eyes of Alice-chan. They’re so pure and clear, right? There’s no way I’d ever think of something devious……]

[……It’s fine for now, but if I ever get the sense that you added some weird prank features…… I’ll have Canalis-san clear everything out.]

[……Isn’t siccing a literal god kinda cheating……?]

Well, I do trust Alice, so I don’t think she’d install anything I’d really dislike. That being said, I can definitely see her pulling pranks or messing around, so I made sure to warn her.

If I actually asked Canalis-san, she’d probably be able to completely uncover all the room’s functions.

(……I could do that too, you know? You do know I could also do that, right?)

……Alright, if it ever comes to that, I’ll ask Shiro-san.

I could feel this distinct, no, an obvious sense of dissatisfaction from her…… exactly like when I turned to Eden-san for help with Dr. Vier, so I made sure to let Shiro-san know that if the time ever comes, I’ll ask her.

Anyway, we got a little sidetracked, but for now, the simple planning is done.

[……There’s still some time before dinner. What should we do?]

[Ah! In that case, I’d like to play a game with you, Kaito-senpai!]

[A game?]

[Yes! You played with Aoi-senpai before, right? But it’s not fair if only Aoi-senpai gets to play. I want to play games with you too, Kaito-senpai!]

[Fumu……]

Playing a game itself wasn’t a problem. Setting it up would be quick, and playing with Hina-chan sounded fun. The real issue was deciding which game to play.

First and foremost, online games weren’t really Hina-chan’s thing. Rather, she seemed to view games as a casual activity, something to enjoy with family and friends in a lively atmosphere. So, it was safe to assume that she wanted to play a party game together.

[……Then, how about we play a classic board game, like a sugoroku-style one?]

[That sounds great! But, I feel like Kaito-senpai would be ridiculously strong at those kinds of games.]

[Well, I made sure that Shiro-san’s Blessing doesn’t affect this kind of game, and it’s not really about winning or losing, so let’s just have fun.]

[Okay!]

And so, until dinner, Hina-chan and I played a game that was a staple in our original world, a board game set across all of Japan, where players compete to amass the greatest wealth.

Partway through, Aoi-chan returned home and joined in, making it a lively game for the three of us…… In the end, though, I won by a landslide.

T/N: Sugoroku-style games are like, any board game where you advance spaces based on rolling dice. Think Game of Life, Snakes and Ladders, Monopoly, etc.

<Afterword>

Bugged Luck Stat : [No worries! I can read the mood, so I’ll make sure it’s a close competition while still ensuring Master wins by a landslide in the end!]
