I Was Caught up in a Hero Summoning, but That World Is at Peace
Chapter 2311: After the Birthday Party ⑤Although the sudden conversation with Life gave Eris a stomachache, ironically enough, she is an extremely competent individual, and once the conversation began, things progressed quite smoothly.
To begin with, as the daughter of a marquis, Eris had been raised with a proper education, possessed a diligent personality, and placed great importance on information. As a result, she had a wide range of knowledge, and conversation was one of her strong suits.
[Come to think of it, you achieved quite an impressive result at the quiz competition, didn’t you? Even just speaking with you like this, I can sense the breadth of your knowledge, and it makes you easy to talk to. I myself am someone who doesn’t know many things, and while I don’t think ignorance is a sin or anything like that, I do feel that intellectual people are easier to speak with.]
[Those are kind words. As for the quiz competition, I was lucky in many ways, but I do make a conscious effort to gain various knowledge on a daily basis. Still, when it comes to things related to Kaito-sama, I often feel my own lack of ability. There are so many unpredictable situations that I find myself at a loss.]
[In regards to Miyama-san, I do think there are some aspects where you just can’t help it. To be honest, even when I first met him, while I did recognize him as someone important, being the one blessed by Shallow Vernal-sama, I never imagined he would become such a pivotal figure.]
Fortunately, Life had approached the conversation with a desire to interact, so she was relatively friendly in her manner, which in turn made it easier for Eris to keep the conversation going and engage in a calm and pleasant chat.
Life, for her part, had a very favorable impression of Eris, and felt that she truly was someone worthy of the high praise Kaito had given her. Their interaction could be described as going quite smoothly.
[……This has been a pleasant time, with some truly fascinating topics, but I suppose we can’t go on talking forever.]
[You’re right. I’ve noticed more and more people gradually heading home, so we probably shouldn’t remain here either.]
At Life’s words, Eris felt a small sense of relief inside. She understood that this was a signal to wrap up the conversation, and she was glad she had managed to get through it without incurring any displeasure.[I realize this was all quite sudden and must’ve been a bit overwhelming for you, but if possible, I’d like to continue having interactions like this from time to time in the future. I myself have a lot to learn when it comes to interacting with other races……]
[Yes, of course. If I can be of help in any way, I’d be glad to cooperate. Speaking with Life-sama, I also found it to be a very valuable and educational experience. I’d be honored if more opportunities were to come.]
Though she had been quite nervous at first, Life turned out to be gentle and polite, and not the type to speak in roundabout ways or test others with subtle implications. Because of that, Eris found her a fairly easy person to converse with.
Of course, there was still the pressure brought by speaking with a Supreme God, but even so, Life was undoubtedly someone who made conversation enjoyable, and Eris responded to her words with sincere gratitude.
However, it was at this point that an event occurred which, in a way, could be considered Eris’ greatest miscalculation.
Life, having observed Fate and Chronois, had made up her mind to deepen her interactions with the Humans and was now acting on that decision. In other words, she had precedents to refer to. And when precedents exist, it is only natural, whether God or Human, to follow the actions of one’s predecessors.
Which means that, in continuing her interaction with Humans…… with Eris, it would be entirely reasonable for Life to model her behavior after the other two Supreme Gods.
So then, which of the two would Life choose as a reference? ……Fate, in this case, is an extremely special example. In her case, she deepened her relationship with Kaito and became his lover. As her affection for him grew, she also came to regard the people around him as important to him, and thus became interested in them as well.
In other words, she didn’t consciously set out to interact with Humans; her broadened perspective was a result of her romantic involvement with Kaito. Therefore, her situation doesn’t serve as a useful model for how to engage with Eris in this current context.
Naturally then, the one Life would turn to as a reference was Chronois. It was only logical that she would choose to imitate Chronois’ actions, especially since she too had deepened her relationship with a noblewoman, Lilia. In a sense, it was a perfectly reasonable course of action.
And what did Chronois do when she first met Lilia……?
[Eris, our conversation has been a truly meaningful experience.]
[Your words are far too generous.]
[Please take this as both a token of gratitude for that, and as a sign of my hopes for our future relationship. It’s a provisional one but…… I grant you the Blessing of Life.]
[ ! ? ! ? ! ? ]
As Life raised her hand, Eris’ body began to emit a faint glow———- it was clear that a Blessing had been bestowed upon her.
[Well then, I look forward to our next meeting.]
[Y- Yesh……]
Eris managed to reply somehow, but mentally, she was on the verge of collapse. Her knees were about to give out, and the shock of what had just happened completely overwhelmed her ability to think.
A Provisional Blessing from a Supreme God was simply too much. Technically, during the first Six Kings Festival, Life had already granted her Provisional Blessing to all participants under Shallow Vernal’s orders. However, that was solely due to Shallow Vernal’s will, and while certain physical enhancements like youthfulness had not persisted, the other effects of those Provisional Blessings had faded after a year.
Now, however, Eris had received a personal Provisional Blessing directly from Life herself. This was an extraordinary matter, proof that Eris, as an individual, had been highly esteemed by a Supreme God, and just like with Lilia, imagining how that might affect her reputation going forward was enough to make her feel like her stomach might literally start bleeding.
Even as Life departed, Eris remained in a daze. Then, a gentle hand patted her on the shoulder. When she turned around, she saw the face of Lilia, looking at her with an expression of deep, heartfelt sympathy.
[……Ahh, D- Duchess Lilia…… I- I…… why did something like this have to happen to me……]
[I understand how you feel…… truly, deeply, painfully so. But if I may say this, even if it sounds cruel…… from my own personal experience, this is just the beginning.]
[What…… What terrifying thing are you saying……? D- Don’t tell me…… you too, Duchess Lilia……?]
[F- Fufu…… I even feel a bit nostalgic now. If you ever need someone to talk to when things get tough, please don’t hesitate to reach out.]
Eris already felt like she was at her limit, but the way Lilia said this was just the beginning, with such earnest, unwavering eyes, left her pale and trembling in fear.
<Afterword>
Ultimate Stomachache Warrior : [The place you’re standing right now…… I passed through it more than two years ago!!!]
※ Lilia’s encounters with the Gods included the God of Time and Space -> God of Creation -> God -> God of Life -> A full all-star lineup of high-ranking and low-ranking Gods held a rally in her garden. (All of this happened over roughly three months.)
Serious-senpai : [……So in the end, Lilia Albert really is the strongest……]
