Chapter 3657 Adaptation! IV
Now was the time for him to reveal anything he had been hiding!
And perhaps reveal whatever it was that had caused the Wheel of Existence to merge multiple Gateway Domus together.
The Great Beyonder uttered those words softly, as Noah's weavings pulsed in quiet resonance.
Compared to others…what made him unique?
The answer rested entirely in his Purity.
One of his bodies, currently stationed in the True Frequency of the Singed, could feel the gaze of the Origin Singed. And from that being's eyes, he felt something rare.
Caution.
Not hostility—but caution. As if the Origin Singed could not fathom the level of Purity emanating from the True Source Noah had just obtained.
Of course, he held the True Source Atlas of Existence, among other things—but here, the Singed remained singular in its judgment.
Noah's path diverged from all others. While they ascended through Lesser Sources, Greater Sources, Prime Sources, and eventually the revered Undeniable Telos Prime Sources, before evolving into True Source Complexity Entities—
He had walked a different road.
He didn't climb through Amalgamation. He never cobbled together fragments.
He severed his Ordinances eighty-one times until they became Pathways.
And when he finally obtained a Source from the Pathway—it was already a True Source.
Noah's ascent was different. Profoundly so!
Naturally, his Purity didn't match the conventional metrics explained by the Great Beyonder.
Nascent Source-Bearer Complexity Entities were known to have Average Purity, but he could feel it- his Purity far exceeded those bounds.
It felt as though his Purity belonged among Harmonized Sourcebound Icon Complexities.
So.
He decided to test it.
His Weaver of Existence Distinction analyzed the Pillars of Concordance cast by both the Great Beyonder and Veyl'Aethra—pillars that had turned their surrounding regions into extensions of their True Source.
His gaze then turned to the distant silver seas and rising waterfalls of Causality, where two Dead Things now approached.
And he spoke, softly.
"Pillar."
HUUM!
The Great Beyonder's eyes flew open, astonished as she heard the first word. He didn't hesitate as he completed it.
"Of Concordance."
…!
Three simple words.
But in the next breath—toward the direction from which the two Dead Things advanced…
A dazzling pillar of white-gold brilliance erupted.
It wasn't just flames.
This was a pillar of judgment.
A white-gold flaming monument that rippled across many light-years, rising and descending with seeming infinitude. It spread the weavings of its True Source across the domain of Causality—and just in time.
The two Dead Things were approaching.
The Great Beyonder turned toward Noah, her gaze unreadable.
He didn't even need to look back before he spoke.
"The Purity of my True Source may have just surpassed the distinction between Nascent Source-Bearer and Harmonized Sourcebound Icon. It seems… if Purity is high enough, even Average or Low Complexity can be overridden to exhibit power on par with higher-tiered beings."
…!
He said it so casually.
The Great Beyonder and Veyl'Aethra exchanged glances.
The old man offered Noah a smile.
"It's always good to see the young ones outpacing us. But let's not celebrate yet—this is only a portion of the Dead Things making their way here. I still don't see how we'll survive the rest."
Yes.
Things were only beginning.
The Great Beyonder kept her sharp gaze fixed on Noah, speaking as she observed the two Dead Things surging toward the white-gold flaming domain where his Pillar of Concordance had been enacted.
"The ones approaching your True Source… I know them well. Nyxal, the Dreamer Beneath Withering Stars, bearer of the Dead True Source of Somnial Nihilum—a collapsed Source of dreams and imagination. And Grys, the Archivist of Hollow Truths, with the Dead True Source of Veritas Moribundum—a fossilized Source of Truth that corrupts certainty itself.
Both are tricky little fuckers. Will the Purity of your Source be enough against them?"
She asked a critical question, just as Nyxal and Grys entered Noah's expanded Pillar of Concordance of the Singed.
Nyxal's form was a titanic humanoid of ashen-gray flesh with five glowing eyes across his face.
Grys was a woman with an obsidian trident, her lower half a mass of writhing octopus-like tentacles.
The moment they breached Noah's domain, the white-gold flames surged wildly.
The flames latched onto the weavings of existence surrounding the two Dead Things—burning not with heat, but with the purity of eonic embers that could never be extinguished.
OOOH!
Roars of fury erupted from both beings.
Grys' corrupted Source shattered certainty in her surroundings, causing the white-gold flames to flicker in and out of reality.
Nyxal unleashed a source of endless, recursive dreams—powerful enough to trap even True Sources in endless loops, further disrupting the flames.
And yet…
They burned on.
Flickering, warping, but never fading.
They returned.
These were no ordinary flames.
They were the True Flames of the Singed, fueled by such terrifying Purity that even the Origin Singed had taken notice.
With proper Complexity, they might one day scorch even Harmonized Sourcebound Icons.
But for now…
"We may not be doomed after all," the Great Beyonder whispered.
Noah turned to her with a raised brow.
"Why do you always speak too soon—just before you're proven wrong?"
He had to ask.
Because just as the Great Beyonder finished her words…
HUUM!
Another Dead True Source blared, this one from behind Nyxal and Grys.
That brought the number to three.
And from the direction of the Wild True Source of Fear, two more Dead Source auras erupted, bringing the total to five from that side.
And it didn't stop there.
As if every Dead Thing across the merged Domus had been waiting for the perfect moment-
BZZT!
From the white halls and corridors of the Pale Verbum Labyrinth, four more Dead True Source auras surged outward in a maddened burst.
Add Yrrmoth, already advancing from that direction, and that made five from the Pale Verbum Labyrinth.
Five more from the Domus of Absolute Fear.
Three from the Hollow Cascade of Reversed Causality.
Twelve Dead True Sources in total.
Against the three of them.
The Great Beyonder's visage shifted—her face a mask of fury and grim realization.
She cursed under her breath.
"What a bullshit fucking move from the Wheel…merging all these Domus like this. If I finally die now after all this time because of its twisted calculations…"
