Chapter 1062: 1062 Deep Into The Past

The scene cut there, so Wolfe never got to see if the valley survived the aftermath, but he knew where it was now, so he could at least go look for it.

The vision from the crystal continued, and Wolfe was plunged into a scene from the very start of the war. The day that armed soldiers had arrived at the Noxus Family manor.

“Good afternoon gentlemen, would you like some refreshments?” A girl asked from the window of the house, while a young woman opened the door for them.

“We need to speak to the Family Head.” The leader of the group insisted, then fell silent, while his men waited with guns drawn.

The girl activated the stove to boil water for tea, and a device in the leader’s hand beeped.

“They’re resisting. Kill them all.” He ordered.

Wolfe watched in horror as a hail of null stone ammunition tore through the house, which didn’t have anyone in it but the young housekeeper and her daughter.

They never stood a chance. In fact, they never even reacted in time to raise a defensive barrier.

Then the scene changed to the Immortal Saint and ten other men with similar facial features looking at the rubble of the farmhouse.

“The human barbarity has gone too far. Look at this. First, they demand that we give them magic to enslave their own people, and now they’re killing children for trying to make them tea.” One of the men snarled as they watched the replay of the scene with a Time Magic spell.

One of the other men nodded. “Pacifism is no longer a viable option. We must take a stand. I will put it to a vote with the council. Those who wish to stand can make themselves known, and those who do not can move their people somewhere safe.”

The Immortal Saint frowned. “I believe that I know a safe place for them.”

Then, as if King Drider couldn’t decide if he was against spoilers, or if he just wanted to tease Wolfe with partial information, the scene cut again, to a meeting between the Immortal Saint, a Magi King in pure white robes, and fifty human leaders.

They were set in some sort of official meeting room, as everyone had name plates, and there were reserved spots for their assistants behind them.

At one end of the room, there was a throne of sorts, with a single man seated upon it, but he didn’t seem to be a King of Kings. Instead, the title below his name read [Speaker of the Council.]

The Speaker tapped his microphone to start the meeting.

“Thank you, members and esteemed guests, for meeting on such short notice. Today’s meeting is of the utmost importance to the security of the One World Alliance, and the three billion citizens it represents.”

The Magi present frowned, and Wolfe struggled to remember anything he might have learned from before the war, but he wasn’t getting why the reference to the size of the alliance angered them.

The speaker continued. “As you know, the slaves have been in rebellion for nearly five years now, and the rebel witches have created a potion that cleanses the curse of obedience from the slave collars.

This cannot continue. At this rate, we are going to have to purge an entire continent to get the situation under control, and the loss of revenue will be staggering, not to mention the loss of breeding stock.”

The crowd rumbled in agreement, while the Magi sat silent.

“Which brings us to the issue at hand. It is no longer acceptable for the Magi to sit idly by while our world crumbles. You must take action to stop these rebellions and the senseless upheaval of our society.”

The Magi in pure white pressed a button to activate his microphone. “What of the six billion people you don’t consider citizens, but merely residents of your lands? For them, this has been a great improvement in their living conditions.

Therefore, I fail to see how this is a net negative for the One World Alliance. The Magi don’t care about political power brokers, wealth or titles. Why should we help you subjugate the majority of your population to keep your profit margins high?”

The outrage was as instant as it was predictable, and it went on for nearly five minutes before the speaker banged his gavel to bring order.

“Are you saying that the Magi Clans are traitors to humanity, and to the One World Alliance?” The speaker demanded.

The white robed Magi simply sighed and shook his head. “You are not the One World Alliance. You are a mouthpiece for the wealthiest among its people, and the people have spoken.

You have been deposed, your capital cities razed to the ground. All you have left is military might that you have turned on your own people to preserve your power.

Even now, they are holding popular elections, and not a single name in this room is on the ballot.”

THEY ARE SLAVES! They do not get to vote. They do not get an opinion. We OWN them.” A man in the front row shouted.

“The Chairman has spoken.” The speaker agreed.

“Generals, detain the Magi. They will be executed as traitors.” The Speaker announced, but the white robed Magi simply opened a portal and walked out with the Immortal Saint behind him.

The scene followed them back to a house full of people in rags, who were looking hopefully up at the duo.

“Your Majesty, did you get them to see sense?” A young boy asked.

The white robed man shook his head. “No, they cannot be brought out of their self-destruction. They demanded that we help them create new slave collars that you could not escape, and then ordered us executed as traitors for refusing.

I do hope that you can get enough of the army on your side to stop their madness. But if you cannot, then come to any of our residences, and we will provide shelter.”
