Chapter 1076: 1076 Shrine At The Gate
Wolfe finished with his work and stared at the marble temple he had erected over the park with pride. It had taken way more surface area than he had thought to inscribe all the spells that were needed to deal with the burning Null Stone, but the result was beautiful.
But now there was a fountain of pure mana and cleansing energy flowing out of the temple into the ocean, where it was being absorbed by the barriers around the Noxus Family home, whose barriers were already nearly repaired.
The leak was sealed, and the null stone wasn’t bleeding curse energy into the ocean anymore, which was allowing Wolfe’s cleansing spell to rapidly clear the surrounding waters, instead of struggling to keep up.
“Well, lady and gentlemen, it looks like we’ve got the worst of the issue solved. My cleansing spell is keeping up with the problem for now, and the waters are beginning to clear.
The Shrine that I created will continue the work even after we leave, and I left an enchanted whiteboard spell there, so that anyone who passes this way can add names to the memorial. It’s not realistic to get them all, but I added the feature just in case.” Wolfe explained.
The inside of the barrier still looked pristine, as it had held against the Null Stone for all this time, but the barrier had looked pretty unstable at first, and definitely unsafe to pass through.
Now it was calm, simply existing over the complex.
Wolfe could sense that the Noxus Family house was actually much larger than it looked. There was incredibly powerful space Magic still active inside, and he was eager to see if he could understand how to use it.
He had seen time magic spells, and he had no idea how that was supposed to function, but space magic might be different.
“I will head inside now. Would any of you like to come with me, or will you wait here in the pure mana of the shrine? I’m probably going to be most of a day searching the grounds.” Wolfe asked.
The trio discussed it for a while, then the Selkie swam over to join Wolfe. “I will stay with you until you leave the area. The others will go back with their reports for the Queen now.
She needs to know that a major source of corruption has been neutralized, as it will affect an entire region of the Ocean, and she doesn’t like surprises.”
The two mermen took off in the direction they had entered from, following the path of lowest corruption out of the area, so that they could make it back to the Queen unscathed and not make her doubt the efficiency of what had happened here.
The ocean currents would make the safe zones slowly shift, but there should still be enough of a safe zone for them to make it home with their own barriers intact and no damage.
“Shall we?” Wolfe offered, holding out his arm for the Selkie to take.
She laughed as she put a fin on his arm and swam beside him through the barrier, then transformed, to land on her feet in the air inside.
Wolfe extended an armour spell over her, sot the Fae didn’t have to struggle with issues caused by the depths, and then scanned the area for living, or unliving, hosts.
He only found one inside, a vampire from what he could tell, but not any sort of normal one. It was an incredibly powerful undead, possibly even at the Saint Rank, as the Lich Lord Asmodai had been.
Wolfe stopped at the wooden gate in the low garden wall that surrounded the property and sent a small surge of mana into the spell that was engraved on the gate, the equivalent of a doorbell.
“Damned spells aging out. Now I’ve got to fix another one before it drives me crazy with the ringing.” Wolfe heard someone cursing, before the sound of stomping feet caught his attention, and the Vampire came in sight.
The old man stopped in shock, staring at Wolfe and the Selkie.
“Good afternoon, I am Wolfe Noxus, current Patriarch of the Noxus Family. On the surface, at least. I don’t know if the branch down here has a surviving Patriarch, or even any living members.” Wolfe greeted him.
“What happened to my grandson?” The old man demanded.
“That depends on which one is your grandson. If it’s the Undying Saint, he is currently in the Underworld with his wife, so the position passed to me.” Wolfe offered.
“You’re not even a King, why did it pass to you?” The old man grumbled.
“Because there were no other options. I am currently the only living Magi over the Third Rank in the world. So, I got the position as Patriarch.”
“I’m going to need a drink for this. Come in, come in.” The vampire instructed, then turned and walked back into the house.
“What a strange day.” The Selkie sighed.
“Just wait, it’s about to get even more insane. You haven’t seen any of the spells on the property activated for guests yet. Once they are, this will be an entirely different experience.”
As if they had been waiting for him to say something, artificial birds and flowers appeared in the yard, and the simple stone exterior of the house was covered in delicate creeping vines, as well as beautiful golden statues.
“That is… all fake? I can feel the nature magic, so a Fae helped them make it, but those aren’t real plants, they’re just images of the plants and animals.” She gasped.
“I told you that it was about to get even more crazy. Prepare yourself for the inside. I can feel the spells coming online already.”
Together, they walked through the gardens and up to the front door, a simple obsidian entryway with bronze fittings that only had spells on them to prevent corrosion.
The whole house was like that from the outside, simple yet elegant, but entirely constructed with magic.
