[OP: ]
A stigma is a power or authority or a skill that belonged to a divine being, someone who possessed divinity and acknowledgement of the world.
Divinity, still, is not a power but a concept. To possess divinity is pretty different for all beings since it’s not a power but a state of being.
“There exists divine beasts, those born with divine power. These conceptual creatures possess a kind of connection with the world and nature that make them different from any being that exists in the world.
The others who possess the title of a god or Lord have simply gone beyond the natural constraints of the world, and achieved the truths that bind the world and other concepts of the world.”
Gods are either very old beings who have existed for a long, long time or are people who achieved something that the others of their kind could not and understood the truths of the world that the world does not want them to understand.
They gathered so much power– not strength but the abstract power that one cannot define with the simple definitions of strength– that they became different from the other beings that existed in the physical world.
They themselves become concepts that exist independently from the bounds of the world, and when their achievements are recognised by the people, their divinity becomes strengthened.
“Ultimately, they gain powers that aren’t simple or logical.”
The power that Rein possessed was the power to see things that no other being in the world could. The powers that Wali possessed made her a unique entity that could wield a certain kind of art like no other.
The power that Dark Angel who looted Hiraani possessed, was also different from the simple powers that one could understand with their limited minds.
“Divinity, as a concept, is not something everyone can understand until they experience it in some way…”
The reason those who see Divine beasts and use of their divine skills are considered unique in themselves is exactly because of this– they have seen the divine power, and indirectly the divinity that those creatures possess. So, they understand it to some extent.
It’s not simple but those who come face-to-face with this higher concept will know what one means when they talk about a divine power that is not like any magic or weapon technique in the world.
“But once you experience how unfathomable Divinity is, you start questioning the meaning of power that those possessing these divine powers might have.”
Neither Rein nor Eon possessed divinity.
However strong or smart both of them might be, they weren’t even close to the teachers that teach them at the academy, much less the mentors that look after them– the world famous individuals who possess powers much greater than most other individuals in the world.
Still, to become anywhere close to the divine beings that actually possess divinity and a step beyond the transcendental powers like the headmaster or the divine beasts, they still had a long way to go.
“Borrowed powers have their limitations.” to possess the divine powers that their skills or stigmas provided, they would have to go through a lot of troubles and gain a great amount of strength.
It was going to take time, but right now, even with this borrowed power, they were in possession of a card that, in certain situations, could save their lives.
“I can keep the Divine channel open for about a minute now.” Rein had worked hard to increase that number from a few seconds to an entire minute.
“For us, it’s a little less than a few seconds.” Eon, on the other hand, could not maintain the divine channel connecting him to the divine powers of his master for long.
A few seconds was all that he could use the divine powers of his master for. But unlike Rein who could only use the divine power for limited things, when Eon connected with the stigma’s power, he could access a lot more powers and abilities than Rein could.
“We can stretch the access time if I give up control to Lucy, but that puts a great toll on my body and it will render my entire body lifeless for a few moments after using the power.
Using it with the help of Lusy is the only way to access the full extent of that power, but it’s also a double edged sword for us.”
Eon had just shown her the things that they could do with the power of their stigma.
He had just shown her how he could create the legendary white flames that could purify anything it touches, the same flames that are present in many places throughout the tower.
They could access the other authorities of his master as well which included the authority of future sight, the authority of Oracle, the authority of ‘world voice’ the authority of ‘achievement announcement’ the authority to create and destroy any element that existed, the authority to access knowledge of any kind, and use it in any way they desired.
The powers that Eon could not use right now because of his inherent limitations were pretty vast. There were many things he could not do, many things that he did not have access to but knew the existence of.
He was shocked when he first realised this when he used it on the puppet of the evil god back at that cave. He knew at that moment that the powers that his master left for him were not limited to one or two abilities like Rein.
The eyes that she had were an inherited skill, a skill that was simply One skill. The skill could do a lot of things but it was still just one thing while on the other hand, Eon had access to everything that his master possessed in her last moments.
It was crazy how someone could do something like this. No god, no divine being that possessed powers of that kind would ever leave everything they possessed to someone that they barely knew for a few years.
She also did not leave those powers to her own child, Zoe, but to her successor, to Eon.
Eon was dumbfounded for a long while when he sat down to think about this matter. Now that he had told Rein about it, even she was deep in thought about how this was possible.
It wasn’t easy to leave even one of your powers to someone through a stigma. Giving it away meant you were granting someone access to the power that defined you, and your divine nature.
That person would become a part of that divine entity while the person would become a part of that higher divine self.
The stronger the power, the greater ownership of the divine over the individual, and the stronger the individual’s dedication to that one divine entity.
A stigma did not bind the two entities, it simply forged a connection between them that stood out from the rest of the connections in nature.
Those of higher authority could perceive this connection and when it comes to influencing these individuals that have connection with a different divinity, they would have to face the connection that the individuals have with that other divinity.
“Even after she’s gone, she’s looking after me…” There were emotional tears in his red eyes right now.
His master, the grandmother that had saved him and looked after him, gave him something so precious that it would help him for the rest of his life until he himself possessed the divine nature that his master once did.
A High Phoenix, a Saint, a world element that had been a fear of the gods and demons alike. She had countless achievements to her name, and she named Eon as the successor of those achievements, as the person who would inherit everything she had when the time comes.
“This makes matters a little complicated as well though.” since he would have all that his master did when he awakens his own divine nature, he would stand out a little too much too quickly.
The powers that he would have would be a little too much for someone that had just awakened as a Divine being. There would be many eyes on him, there might be beings who don’t like him and would try their best to eliminate him.
In those higher worlds, he might have to stand alone as well. He might have to stand by himself and fight with those beings in a way that he does not know yet.
“That’s why we should gain experience.” It wasn’t a requirement anymore, it was a necessity.
“And you should get that experience.” Rein shook her head with a helpless smile when she saw that serious look on her darling’s face.
“You aren’t going to gain divinity by just sitting around like a lazy bum, you mister. Get up and work, let’s go.”
To gain divinity, one needed strength and achievement.
They would gain strength with experience and time, but to gain achievements, they would have to do things that have either not been done, or are so unbelievable that even nature would be surprised if those things are done.
“I’m not the lazy bum here, ok?” With a smile of his own, he got up while shaking his head and jumped forward at Rein.
But she avoided him with her movement skill and moved away. He wasn’t going to catch her that easily.
“Hey~.”
“Come here, you little witch~!”
They still had a lot to do. Together and by themselves.
Eon, especially, needed to look after himself.
He still needed to take Anna outside along with the rest of them, so he had to be prepared for that as well.
