304 Alis (Part-2)

Chaos was the main villain of the book.

Its minions caused mayhem in the empire, driving its citizens to small worlds by the end of the third volume.

Assisted by the undead from the uncharted land, they caused the downfall of the empire and took the fat piece of land for themselves.

The uncharted land was mentioned only a few times in the book because its plot focused mainly on the war between the two sides. As it was a largely unexplored area and only a few things were mentioned about it in the book, Roy was totally clueless as to what was going on there.

It can be said that it was because of Damien that he came to understand it better and found out that there existed a kingdom of Outlaws in the uncharted land, outlaws that were thirsty for their blood and wanted to destroy the empire.

Crimson Mages and Dark Knights basically never made their appearance, at least not in the book, but Roy believed that they were the ones pulling the string from behind, plotting the fall of the empire, and he had many reasons to believe that.

"Are they to be feared?"

Since he knew so little about these unknown enemies, Roy didn't hesitate to ask more about them from Damien.

Roy's eyes were fixed on him. Not even a subtle change in his expression would escape his notice. To him, it didn't seem like Damien hesitated before nodding.

"There are plenty of reasons why they should be feared."

Damien started listing them out to Roy.

"Crimson mages and Dark Knights were basically once humans, but after accepting what is called the invitation of Death, they became undying. Barely anything is known about Uncharted Land. I don't know who or what it is. Maybe it's just a concept, or maybe it's just a mental case that has deluded itself into believing that it is God. But the power it granted them is too dark to be ignored." Damien said, "That makes it evil… for sure."

By the time he finished saying that, they had entered the garden. Damien sat down on the bench and patted the empty spot next to him. Roy understood that he was going to tell him something dark and heavy, which the ones inside the manor were better off not hearing, and he sat down next to him.

"What kind of power do they have?" Roy tried to divert the topic away from Death. He didn't want to think or talk about it. Doing that would land him in unnecessary trouble. Maybe this time, even Damien would attract its attention.

"I was getting to that part," Damien spoke.

His voice wasn't particularly loud, but the strong wind blowing and howling in the garden couldn't suppress it from entering Roy's ears.

"As you already know, an undying is divided into two types."

Damien raised his hand, and it stopped howling as a magic barrier enveloped his estate.

'Much better.' Roy relaxed a little and sat more comfortably on the bench. He placed one leg over another and attentively listened to Damien.

"The first is the crimson mages. They have a stagnant sea of magic. It lacks life and can't be nurtured through orthodox means. Even magic herbs with the best medicinal value can't expand the size of their magic sea. That's where the benefit of accepting death's invitation kicks in. They have a forbidden magic circle engraved on their bodies."

After hearing his words, Roy's brows furrowed.

He remembered what the author said on Discord.

Engraving a magic circle on the body was a painful way to commit suicide.

The pressure that acts on the body when someone draws it on their body is enough to turn their bones to dust and explode all their organs.

It wasn't possible for humans to use their bodies as a medium for magic circles. They could only form magic spell models in their magic sea.

Of course, the author said that a dragon among humans could make the impossible possible. Roy didn't understand what he meant at that time. But now that he knew that limiters existed, he was certain that breaking all of them would allow a person to grow so physically strong that they would be able to draw a magic circle on their bodies without side effects. But to break all eight of them… that has never been done before.

'It won't be easy to kill them.' Since the undying could engrave magic circles on their bodies, it could only mean that they had extremely sturdy bones and excellent defense.

Damien's words fell on Roy's ears again. "It gives them the ability to directly absorb the magic sea of others. Of course, it's hard to do, provided that they are being resisted. But if they are looting it from a corpse, it becomes easier."

'They are similar to me in this aspect.' With the help of his system, he could do what they could do. But they couldn't do what he could do. He had the upper hand against them. As a matter of fact, he was more blessed and fortunate than anyone in this Major World because he had the system.

"The way they do it is even more disgusting."

When Damien revealed to him how they absorb the sea of magic from a corpse, Roy felt his gut churning.

The fuckers feed on humans in the same way humans feed on animals. They were once humans. Doesn't that make them cannibals?

What a disgusting thought!

"Ugh!" Damien heard him voicing out his disgust. "I was better off not knowing that." Roy looked at Damien like he had wronged him.

There were predators out there who survived on humans and had farms where humans were cultivated like wheat and reared like. They needed to eat them every once in a while to not die. That's why they had established human farms. Knowing this shocked and disgusted him to his core, and he elevated Alis and its sick citizens to the same level of threat as Chaos in his heart.
